I wake up to hear a hysterical woman yelling and a voice trying to calmly, but nervously reply back.
"Who are you?! Why are you in my house?!" I recognize my mother screaming.
"Look, I'm Frank's friend, my name is-"
"Get out, get out, get out!"
"Mom, stop it!"
"Frank shut the hell up, there's a stranger in our house!"
"Mom, it's my friend-"
"Frank get her out!"
"Mom. You're drunk." My mom stares at me with a blank stare, stopping with her hysterics suddenly. Kelsey stares at me, clearly not knowing what to do in this kind of situation. I sigh and look my mom in the eye. "Go to bed." My mom looks at me with big eyes, begging. I shake my head, and she walks away, down the hall to her room. Kelsey stands still for a moment, then quickly closes the door and stares at me expectantly. When I don't say anything immediately, Kelsey juts out one of her hips and raises an eyebrow, putting her hands on had waist. I curl up under my blankets. "When my mom isn't working, she's drinking. When she isn't drinking, she's sleeping. When she isn't sleeping, she's fooling around with anyone who will sleep with her. Right now, she was drinking, and will be sleeping." I put my blanket over my head. My bed dips under Kelsey's weight, and I feel light enter my blankets for a second, and then it's dark again. But I feel a hand over mine, and all is well.
