Chapter 2
I stare at my phone. It's now or never I guess. I enter Kelsey's contact and text it.
Me: Hey. This is Frank
Kelsey: Hiya! Finally got the guts to text me huh?
Me: Yup
Kelsey: Anything keeping you from texting me?
Me: Only the anxiety of talking to a pretty girl.
Kelsey: Flattery will get you no where.
Me: Damn it.
Kelsey: Well I gtg memorize my schedule and crap.
Me: Okay, see ya tomorrow.
Kelsey: Seeshya
I reread all the messages and am proud I didn't sound awkward or anything. The thing about anxiety was kind of true though... Not just flattery. But I guess it's better she just saw it as flattery anyways. I put my phone on my nightstand and finally get to the homework I had been avoiding since I got home from school.

"Brendon... Help me!"
"No I'm just a whore to you."
"Shut up and come over."
"So needy."
"You're mistaking me for Pete."
"Oops sorry but you both hold the same amount of stupidity."
"Ouch that's low even for you."
"Poor Pete."
"Come over in 10?"
"Fine fine just don't tell Ryan. He might get jealous I'm running over to other guy's houses at night."
"I'm sure." I hang up my phone and put it down on my nightstand again. I can't comprehend my math homework. Brendon is surprisingly a math whiz. Who would know. His boyfriend is great at literature. Between the two of them I'm covered for half my homework. Gerard is good at art. Ray is good at social studies. Mikey is good at science. Pete is too stupid. Patrick is too nice. Then that leaves me. I'm bad at everything. I don't even like anything in particular. Except music. I love music. All of my friends are pretty much band geeks, but I'm one of the more I don't know, prominent band geeks I guess. I like playing guitar and singing but I'm no good. Even though my friends tell me I am. Anyways I have all of my other homework done but math is the worst. I hear a Knock downstairs.
"It's unlocked!" I yell not bothering to be quiet even though my mom is probably sleeping in the room across the hall. She's always too hungover to wake up at this time anyways.
"Good to know I can come over and kill you anytime I want."
"You're welcome to." Brendon easily teaches me how to do my homework and lingers on my bed when I finish.
"So what about this new girl huh?" I roll my eyes.
"What about her?" I ask wearily.
"Do you like her?"
"Sure we could be friends."
"You know what I mean." I sigh and put my homework away.
"I just met her yesterday. Of course not."
I start walking downstairs and Brendon follows.
"Well are you interested in her? Because you guys would like be adorable together." When we arrive in the living room I walk over to the door.
"I'm not looking for a love interest Brendon." I open the door and Brendon starts to walk out.
"Then what are you looking for?" I close the door before answering, locking it for once.

I wake up screaming again, sweat running down the back of my neck. I look at the time. 5:13. I put my face in my hands and decide to wash my greasy hair. I then put on ripped light blue skinny jeans and a dark sweater, seeing how it's winter in New Jersey. I complete the look with black and white converse. By the time I finish a piece of toast I think it's time to walk over to Kelsey's. I get there and she's waiting outside, clinging to an oversized flannel that partially covers another band tee. She's wearing black skinny jeans again and is wearing her boots again. I grab her backpack and sling it on my shoulder not carrying my own backpack. Kelsey laughs and a smile remains on her face. I like her smile. I notice that she looks an inch or so shorter than me. I want to yell 'yay' or something stupid Like that but it would probably be embarrassing. Instead I smile and walk next to Kelsey to school.
"Frankie! Kelsey!" Brendon shouts and slings an arm around each of our shoulders. I try to shrug him off but his arm remains. I discreetly hand Kelsey her bag so none of my friends notice of say anything. She nods at me and winks. Kelsey winked at me. I blush and turn my head down. No one sees as the rest of my friends join us. I have music and art with Kelsey. Art is our first class. The only empty seat in class was next to me of course so we sit next to each other. I quickly get distracted in doodling random shit. After a while I sneak a glance at Kelsey's artwork. Then I stare in awe. She's almost as good as Gerard. And he's like the best artist ever. Maybe they can collaborate sometime. That would be nice. But somehow the thought of Gerard being alone with Kelsey doesn't make me too happy. I frown staring at my paper while thinking about it and not finding a solution to my annoyance.

The next day we have music together, first class again. I love my teacher. He just lets us do whatever the hell we want most of the time. I immediately grab a guitar and a chair. Kelsey looks around and seems to understand how this class works. She grabs a base guitar. She starts playing before I do, her having a pick on a chain around her neck and me having to search my pockets for a pick. Her pick looks a light grey but shimmers rainbow when you stare at it. I don't recognize the tune Kelsey plays, and she hums the words. Her skills aren't too bad, but she messes up on the guitar a bit. She would probably be more fit for singing.
"Did you write that?" Kelsey looks up at me as if realizing that I'm here in the first place.
"Mhm."
"Well it's pretty great. Have any lyrics?"
Kelsey nods, seeming a little nervous. "Can you sing them?"
"I-I can try." I don't understand her nervousness. When she starts playing the guitar, it's much slower and softer than before. When she adds the lyrics, it really sounds beautiful. Her voice is also quiet. But even though the song is beautiful, the lyrics scare me.
