Chapter Seventeen

Chapter Seventeen

I see you move your lips, but it sounds like gibberish

I hated PE.

It was literally an hour and a half of my time that was just wasted.

It wasn't like I could really participate even if I wanted to.

That's a lie. I could... I just didn't want to.

But of course today Ray wasn't having any of my excuses. Luckily for me though he only bothered me for the last twenty minutes of class.

"C'mon pansy. It's just basketball. It's not like we're playing dodge ball or something." He said the second I denied his request to be partners today. It wasn't that I didn't like to be partners with Ray.

Actually it was.

He was far too competitive, last time we played together he knocked me down...

I had more than myself to worry about now.

Not that Ray knew that.

No one knew except my family and Olly's...

And I was planning on keeping it that way for a while.

"I don't want to play today Rayden. Why can't you just... I don't know, do whatever it is you usually do and I'll just watch."

"You're no fun Alex." Rayden sighed but it seemed like he had given up. I stood to his side as he shot at the basket, applauding him occasionally when he'd actually make it in.

"So how are you and your singer boyfriend?" Rayden asked after a few minutes, looking at me for a second.

"His name is Oliver and we're fine... were great actually." I smiled even though it irritated me a little that Rayden never called Oliver by his name. I couldn't figure it out but Ray and Olly just didn't like each other.

"I know his name, I just choose not to call him by his name. I heard he was back in town." Rayden stops shooting for a second, placing the basketball underneath his arm as he looks at me.

"He was like a week ago. He's back with his band right now... they're heading to America soon."

"Sounds exciting. You going with him?" He asks, flicking the hair that had fallen in front of his eyes.

"No. You know I can't." I said, glaring at him as Ray just shrugged.

"It was just a question Alex."

"It was a stupid question." I grumbled, crossing my arms over my chest. It wasn't that I was really cross with Ray... I just didn't appreciate the fact he'd reminded me that I wasn't going with Olly.

"I'm sorry Alex. I was just wondering." Rayden goes back to shooting hoops. I just roll my eyes before walking over to the wall.

"What's up with you and Brenna?" I asked, earning nothing more than a shrug from Rayden as he continued to shoot the basketball.

"Dunno, don't really care to be honest. I'm kinda over her and all that bullshit." Rayden says, not even making eye contact with me.

"Why's that?" I asked, looking at Rayden as he missed the hoop. He let out a curse before finally stopping.

"I wasn't ever really into her? I mean yeah... she's hot and a nice girl... she just wasn't really my type..." Ray shrugs again, walking over to the wall. He leaned against it with me, smiling as I clicked my tongue.

"Never really got why the two of you dated anyways..."

"You'll probably call me a dick if I tell you the real reason." Rayden chuckles a little, shaking his head as I arched an eyebrow.

"Really now? Why did you date B? Was it to make someone jealous or something?"

"Pretty much. It was a stupid idea though. Mainly due to the fact that this said person already has a boyfriend and shit... Kinda hard to make someone jealous when they've already got someone." He laughs again, shaking his head before letting out a long such.

"That's true... who is it though? Do I know them?"

"Probably." He just shrugs again, avoiding the question. I went to ask him again but our teacher blew his whistle, letting us know that class was over for the day. Rayden ran to the lockers before I got the chance to talk to him any further. I tried to forget about, knowing full well that he probably wasn't going to tell me.

It probably didn't help that Brenna met us outside the locker room either. She smiled at Rayden brightly and he only returned it partially.

"We should have a movie night tonight." Brenna suggested proudly, smiling brightly as she skipped next to us. Ray and I both groaned, knowing that it really was just an excuse for Brenna to watch some random chick flick.

"Can't. I um... I have to babysit." I said quickly, cringing as I realized she wasn't going to buy it.

"We can have it at your house then! I'll be over around five." She smiled and I tried not to whine. Ray just arched his eyebrows as she skipped away.

"I love how she just invited herself to your house."

"Well... she can always tell when I'm lying." I whispered, shaking my head.

"Everyone can. You're the shittiest liar."

"Thanks Ray. I appreciate the reassuring boost of self confidence right there." I said sarcastically, glaring at him.

"You're too damn sassy for your own good, I hope you realize that." Rayden chuckled as I rolled my eyes.

"And you're a pain in my ass. I hope you realize that."

I don't know about this chapter.

It's like a filler I guess haha.

Anyways, Rayden or Ray is played by Zac Efron, aka one of my baes. If you don't remember him, he's Louis and Calums oldest son :)
