Mylo refused to talk or make any contact with the both of them, for like 2 weeks, making Hazel feel like crap, and Eugene on the top of the world.
"I wanna hug him." I murmured to Eugene. Who immediately rubs my back. We were watching Mylo from a distance, since he wouldn't talk to the both of us.
"He's annoying, but I miss his voice." Eugene whines. I continue staring at Mylo, who most likely felt it on his head and turns. His eyes automatically locking with mine. He motions me to go towards him, which I do. Leaving Eugene alone. He takes his key off and pushes it into the air, once I get close.
"Kumfa." A portal opens and he steps inside, I scamper in after, we seem to be floating on a bubble, which is surrounded by more bubbles. Below us is a ocean. The air smells like bubble mixture. The bubble we were standing on popped. Mylo goes all limp and stays afloat, and I fall into the ocean. My eyes close automatically as I hit the surrounding liquid. I force my eyes open, which makes them sting; apparently, the ocean that I was now engulfed in, wasn't water, but bubble mixture. I flail my limbs around, trying to surface, which only pushes me down farther. I was drowning, but in a children's toy. How depressing. I felt hands wrap around my arms and pull me up. I gasped for air. Which might've been a little too dramatic, but I'm not sure how long I was under there.
"Thanks." I breathe out.
"No problem, guess you don't float her like I do." Mylo says, letting out an awkward chuckle.
"Guess not." I say. "So why are we here?"
"There are little scenes in the bubbles, well for me I guess." He explains.
"Maybe, if I touch your key..." I dragged on the ending to key, then poked the key, which tangled from his neck. The world sprung to life, scenes filled the bubbles.
"This is why I said 'You sound just like her' When we met, because I saw you here." Mylo says, I nod, letting a small smile spread across my face. I glance around at all the scenes, some good, most bad. Which isn't good. The ones that really get my attention are the ones with Eugene and I doing couple-y things.
"Can we go back home please?" I ask quietly. Mylo, grabs hold of my forearm and holds me up.
"Reira!" He yells, doing the usual thing, that I've seen like a million and a half times. We both step through the portal where Eugene stands waiting. My eyes throb, which sounds really gross.
"Honey, what happened?" Eugene says, grabbing me by the shoulders and looking into my eyes, which were probably bloodshot and a bit swollen.
"Nothing." I say, squirming out of his grasp.
After a week, Mylo was talking normal again, to the both of them, and also making physical contact. Eugene and Hazel, got, well, closer. And before the blink of an eye, they started acting like a couple.
"Hazel, wanna go out tonight?" Eugene asks, digging his hands into his pockets.
"I dunno." I say, running my hand through my greasy locks. I really need a shower.
"Please, we can go to that one fancy restaurant." He says, he's somehow accumulated some money in his time here.
"I need a shower and good clothes, which are two things I can't accomplish right now." I start looking for my wool coat, I was gonna head home and take a shower, and change out of these dirty clothes. My eyes caught the coat.
"Please don't go..." Eugene whines.
"I've gotta take a shower, and maybe I'll find some dressy clothes. Just chill." I pull the coat off and hook and put it on.
"What time should I pick you up?" He asks, I look at the clock on a wall beside his head. 5:57.
"7:30." I say, pushing open the door to Mylo's house. "Bye Mylo!" I yell , earning a prolonged yell from the kitchen.
"Bye, don't get beat up on your way home." His eyes fell to the still healing bruise on my neck. It was barely visible anymore and it didn't hurt, just a very fade yellow-brown mark on my neck.
"Bye." I say, stepping out of Mylo's home and skipping away, humming a note, just to hear something instead of the eerie silence, which wasn't normal at this time, the sun was still slightly lighting the sky, making it a navy blue instead of pitch black. Usually there were kids still walking home from school, even though it ended 2 and a half hours ago, I guess they went to the prep school that was far away. Not the point, an eerie silence fell upon the cities streets, which as noted, isn't normal. Its probably some festival that nobody cared to tell us about. I start on my way home, getting there surprisingly sooner than expected, maybe because no distractions? Anyway when I got home I was a wet and cold mess. I peel the wool coat of my shoulders and pull my boots off too. I then retreat to the bedroom and sift through my closet. Looking for something at least semi-dressy, which took awhile to find, because I don't wear dressy clothes. The thing I found was a mid-thigh length dress, which was blue. I took that into the bathroom and hung it up on the metal towel rack.
After I was showered, dressed and groomed, there was a knock on my door. I pulled on the uncomfortable flats I had dug out of my closet. Then I realized it's really cold, like it-blizzarded-3-weeks-ago cold. I sigh and open the door, and there stood a well-dressed Eugene.
"Wow, you clean up nice." I say, he flashes me a small smile.
"You don't do too bad yourself." He says, I could feel a nice warm blush set on my cheeks.
"Why thank you." I say.
"Shall we go?" He asks in a strong Britishy accent. I giggle.
"One sec." I run into the kitchen and grab my wallet off the counter. I walk back to the door.
"Lets get out of here." He says. We start walking in the cold, It was extremely cold, I was shivering. The restaurant was a 3 blocks away, so we got there in a jiffy. Jiffy? Do people even use that word? Whatever. Eugene talked to the nice lady standing behind the podium as we walked in, It's a hostess I believe. She sat us at a window table. The restaurant was absolutely breathtaking, there was a chandelier made of glass or crystals. The floor was wood, I think, it was a pretty floor though. Everything here was pretty. Eugene whistles, trying to catch my attention. I look at him. He flashes me a smile, which I return.
"This is beautiful." I say.
"I know, like you." He smirks.
"That was very cheesy." I say, letting myself laugh.
"I know. Why did I even say that?" He asks, chuckling.
"Because you're a cheese block." I reply. A nice waitress lady thing walks up to our table.
"Here are your menus." She hands us laminated pamphlets. "Can I get you a drink?"
"Water." I answer, smiling at her.
"I'll be good." Eugene replies. She walks off, her heels clacking on the maybe-wood floor. I open the menu and look at all the yummy, hard to pronounce food. My stomach growled at the sight of all the food pictures. I flip through the book, then look at the back. Which was the kid's menu. I want the mac-n-cheese, as strange as that sounds. I flip to the center of the book, finding a garlic knots. They look good.
"What are you getting Geney?" I ask. He cocks an eyebrow at me.
"Geney?" He asks, a smirk appearing on his face.
"Sorry." I apologize, my face getting hot.
"Don't worry about it, I was thinking on getting the steak. What about you darling?" He asks.
"The mac-n-cheese, or the garlic knots." I reply.
"You should get the knots, don't wanna look juvenile." He smiles.
"Okay." I say. We sit there and talk until the waitress comes back.
"Would you like appetizers? Or just jump into a meal?" She asks, smiling.
"We'll jump right in, I'll get the steak, and she'll get the garlic knots." Eugene says. She grins.
"I'll bring that when it's ready." She walks away to the kitchen.
After we were done eating, Eugene paid and we left. I actually tried to pay, but he wouldn't let me. We were currently walking to my house. I was shivering.
"Do you want my jacket?" He asks, slipping his jacket off his shoulders, and he placed it over mine.
"Thanks." His body heat remained in the jacket, which almost automatically soothes me.
"I had a lot of fun." He says, once we saw my house in the distance.
"I did too." I look over at him and smile. He smiles back. We arrive at my doorstep.
"Hey Hazel?" He asks.
"Yeah?"
"Will you be my girlfriend?" He asks, it was kinda pathetic and sweet and stuff how he asked it, he kinda sounded like a 7 year old asking his crush to be his girlfriend.
"I don't see why not." I smile, then walk inside.
