SOPHIE'S POV
Dex and I arrived at the hall, hand in hand. We pushed through the door and entered into the elegant hall.
" Hello, welcome!" A cheery voice exclaimed. We turned to see a man in tuxedo, holding masks. He thrust one into my hand, and one into Dex's.
" We will be playing a game later," He explained, and then gestured towards the tables. " Find your names and settle in."
Uh-oh. I didn't have a good feeling about this "game."
Dinner flew by, and then the next thing we knew, it was time for the "game."
A women walked up to the microphone, and tapped it, saying, " Testing, one two three, one two three." She then cleared her throat, then spoke louder. " Hello, all. We will now be playing a game with the masks you got. As you can see, each mask has a different sign. You need to find your other half of the design. Once everyone has found their other half, you have to dance with them. Ready?" We all nodded. " Go!"
I stood up and searched around the room for my other "half."
" Nope, no, sorry!" I told everyone who asked me if they had their other half.
Then, I found it.
My other half.
" Hey!" Hi!" I said the person. I think it was a boy around my age. I peeled off my mask and did the same. I couldn't help but stare.
This boy had the most teal eyes, and his hair and face were just......perfect.
" Ummm," I muttered, stepping back.
" It's okay," He smiled. His voice was smooth, like honey.
" I have to go!" I blurted, turning and running out of the hall.
I stopped at the bottom of the steps. This. Was. Not. Happening.
I liked this boy. I had moved on from Dex. ARGGGGGG! I buried my face in my hands.
No. NO.
There were no words to explain my feelings.
I wiped my face with the back of my arm and went back into the hall.
I knew what had to be done.
