Chapter 19
Hello, darlings.
It's just me, Max. I'm just popping in to say hello and tell you that I love you so much and I hope you are all having a great day/night.
You're my confetti.
Even if you fall to the ground, I'd be there to pick each one of you up.
OKAY THAT'S ENOUGH OF THE FEELINGS *yeets away tears*
Enjoy!
or don't
Once again, I get the views either way.

"I will literally drop kick you in the face."
Your voice came out stern and hard as you glared at the young man in front of you, your hand resting on your heaving chest as you struggled to catch your breath.
You and Jungkook had been together all day. He took you to the castle gardens and showed you a few hidden paths in the forest, making sure you knew your way around enough to get back to the castle if you ever got lost.
The two of you laughed and joked with one another all day long. You enjoyed his company. He was funny and kind and he was patient with you, even when you accidentally spilled a pale of water all over him.
You couldn't get what Jimin had told you out of your head, though.
Every time you looked at Jungkook, you remembered Jimin's words...the story of his past was heartbreaking and honestly....scary.
When you looked at him, you felt pity...but you also felt happiness.
Pity, because of what had happened to him...it was something no one should ever have to go through, especially a child...it was disgusting and evil...
But you felt happiness because...Jungkook seemed to be moving past it.
He laughed. Genuinely laughed...even after everything that woman did to him...he managed to move on and try to better himself...that alone was enough to make you feel a little bit better....
The two of you eventually made it back to the castle around two o'clock.
Jungkook went to change out of his wet clothing, leaving you alone in the library for a while..
You had taken your time to look around and search for your next book to read...something you and Jimin could enjoy reading together.
You must have gotten too involved in your reading, because next thing you knew Jungkook was right in front of you.
He scared you.
A chuckle left the chestnut-headed prince, his head tilting at your reaction.
"I didn't mean to scare you." He stated.
You rolled your eyes in annoyance, placing the book in your hands back onto the bookshelf in front of you.
"Yeah right." You said with a huff.
Jungkook laughed, running a hand through his hair.
The small action caused your e/c eyes to move to his hair, gaze locking on his chocolate locks.
You could see the change in his appearance. Although it was barely noticeable, you could definitely tell that his hair had grown a little bit longer than before. It framed his face ever-so-slightly, the ends of his hair beginning to fall back into their naturally wavy state.
You smiled to yourself.
He looked better like this.
He looked less uptight and more carefree.
"I see that you showed her the library."
Your head perked up at the familiar voice that suddenly chimed in on your conversation, eyes moving to find the source of the voice.
Namjoon sent you a small smile as he entered the library, his green eyes gleaming underneath the sunlight that poured in through the stained-glass windows of the library.
Jungkook smiled, nodding his head as he greeted the older man.
"Of course." He said. "She needs a place to get away from all of you."
The young hunter shook his head at Jungkook's joke, his dirty-blond hair falling over his eyes.
"I did not mean to invade your sanctuary." He stated, raising his hands in mock surrender. "I can go-"
Jungkook shook his head, approaching the hunter and patting him on the shoulder.
"Don't be silly." He chided. "You can stay here and keep Y/n company for a while."
Namjoon raised a brow at the prince's words.
"And where will you be?"
"I'm going to pay a visit to my brother for a while."
Th green-eyed man smiled widely, nodding his head in understanding.
"Ah. I just came from his room." He said. "He seems to be in good spirits this afternoon, although he is still a bit grumpy."
Jungkook chuckled, walking towards the door.
"When isn't he grumpy?" He asked.
Namjoon laughed.
"Touche."
Jungkook moved his gaze to yours.
"I won't be long."
You shook your head, waving him off.
"Don't worry about me." You said. "Go spend time with your brother."
The young prince sent you a sly wink before exiting the room, closing to door behind him.
Your gaze shifted over to Namjoon's, e/c eyes clashing with his green ones as he eyed you up and down, a playful smile pulling on his lips.
You resisted the urge to roll your eyes, turning to look at the books on the shelf.
"You enjoy reading?"
You nodded in response to his question, taking in the different titles of the books before you.
"I do." You deadpanned. "How about you?"
Namjoon hummed, shaking his head as he rubbed the back of his neck.
"I don't care too much for romance and sword fights...but I do enjoy learning new things....sometimes I read just to find out something different."
You smiled, moving your eyes to his.
"You really should try and read more."
He chuckled, raising an eyebrow.
"Should I?" He asked. "And why is that? Books are just words on paper."
You shook your head, letting out a small laugh at his words.
"I suppose that's true." You began. "But the written word is one of the most powerful things in the universe...when I read I feel free...I feel like I'm safe, no matter what happens around me...It's like a sense of security....But at the same time I feel excited and scared. I'm hanging on the edge of my seat, wanting to see what happens next. I get so emerged into the books that I don't care about how much time passes...I am content just sitting still, reading."
As you spoke, you failed to notice Namjoon's soft smile. His eyes raked over your face as passion began to swim in your e/c eyes as you stared at the books that surrounded the both of you. Emotion radiated off of your form, your words ringing in his ears as he stared at you fondly.
"It is no wonder you and the young prince get along," He breathed. "You both have the most beautiful of minds."
You smiled at his words, heat moving to your face, turning it a light shade of pink.
"W-We both like reading." You stated.
He nodded his head slowly, smile growing.
"You're good for him." He blurted. "I can tell."
You pulled a strand of hair behind your ear shyly.
"I'm not doing anything special-"
"You don't have to." He interrupted. "I suppose that's the beauty of it..."
You couldn't find a response to his words, your mind going blank as you processed his kind words.
"Since you've arrived things have been changing...getting better." He breathed, moving closer to you. "The seasons are changing again, the leaves are changing...the confetti is falling."
"Confetti.." You repeated softly. "Taehyung said it falls from the sky here.."
Namjoon nodded his head, smiling at you.
"It does." He stated. "Confetti always falls in Taehyung's part of the forest...it's beautiful."
"Why does it fall?" You blurted out. "You told me that The Keeper wanted that part of the forest to be mystical and magical...but that doesn't exactly explain anything..."
The young hunter's expression slowly fell, his smile fading as his green eyes glanced around the room nervously.
You could tell that you had hit a sensitive topic..the way that Namjoon suddenly went quiet confirming your suspicions.
"Well," Namjoon cleared his throat. "I suppose that there is a little more to it than that..."
You furrowed your eyebrows at his uncomfortable tone.
"Okay.."
He sighed, running a hand through his hair.
"Taehyung...he's been around for a while.."
Your brows furrowed at his words, head tilting.
"What do you mean?"
Namjoon moved his green gaze to you.
"I mean," He breathed. "He has been here since the beginning."
Your eyes widened at his words, an expression of shock covering your face.
"He-He what?"
He huffed out, running a hand down his face.
"When The Keeper assigned stories to everyone...Taehyung was there." He stated. "He's one of the originals..."
You blinked in surprise, trying to process his words.
"Then-Then how is he still here?"
"He never finished his story.." He said. "He's been around all this time and he has never found his purpose...At first, he thought it was something that was wrong with him...but The Keeper said that he would simply have to wait for his story to finish..."
He looked up at the ceiling.
"Taehyung has been waiting for centuries to finish his story.." He continued. "All alone in that great, big forest....I suppose that's what drove him to madness...being so lonely..watching all of his friends and family finish their stories and live out their lives happily...before eventually dying..."
You bit your lip, eyes falling to the ground.
"That's-" You sighed. "That's so sad."
Namjoon nodded his head.
"Eventually, one of The Keepers took pity upon him...he called him to the palace and offered him a deal...He told Taehyung that he was free to go to the human world...and live out the remainder of his life there with no more responsibility. He could be free from his immortality."
"He didn't take the deal?" You asked. "Why?"
Namjoon smiled softly.
"He told The Keeper that he didn't need the human world.." He stated softly. "He said that all he wanted...was confetti."
He moved his eyes to yours before continuing.
"He said that as long as he had his confetti...he could bear it.." He smiled. "The Keeper was confused by his odd request...he asked him why, of all things, he wanted confetti..."
"And?"
"Taehyung told him that he was looking for a special kind of confetti..." He stated. "A confetti that he could cherish and love forever...His confetti...The Keeper granted his request...and Taehyung often tells me of how he is always searching for his confetti...but the odd thing is...when I asked him why he took such interest in colorful paper...he said that the paper falling from the sky wasn't confetti....Not real confetti."
You tilted your head in confusion.
"What did he mean?" You asked.
Namjoon shrugged.
"I don't know." He deadpanned. "To this day, his words still confuse me...I often see him walking through the forest, talking to himself and looking around like a mad man...he always has that cat of his searching the town and forest for his "special confetti"...I wish I could understand him..."
You pursed your lips in thought.
"I know one thing for sure though," Namjoon continued with a smile.
"What's that?" You questioned.
Namjoon beamed at you.
"When he finally finds his confetti..."
He hummed before continuing.
"He'll never let it go."
A/N,
Finally! A Namjoon scene..
Hoseok will have a scene soon, I promise.
You're my confetti, darlings.
-Max
