Chapter 2 part 4
Joe woke up at the sound of alarms in her ears. Not one, not to, not even three, but four different tones of alarms screamed in her ear a if they were praying for me to wake up.
She frustratedly shattered her eye open, to see the most bright morning in the history of the earth. As go got of my bed and headed to the bathroom to get ready for the day, there was an impatient knock at her door.
oh come on!
She thought as she remembered how Mr Lifter had told her to get out of her room the moment the ringer went off.
On the other side of the door stood the man who had brought her to this awful place, and on that face was nothing but pure strictness. As soon as he saw Joe still in her nightgown , he made a disgusted expression, but got back to his feelingless face without leaving me a second to debate about that.
"0875, as I told you yesterday, the rules around here are really strict, so get in there and out some decent clothes on. I shall be waiting out here." Joe was astonished by the tone the man had used. It was the first time he had raised his voice at her, and it certainly didn't sound inviting.
She slammed the door in his face and went back to the bathroom. The clothes that were aligned there for her to wear everyday for her stay at this place were ridiculous, and she wasn't willing to use them at all, so she wore the clothes from the day before and headed out.
" I demand to talk to a superior boss, or whoever it is who brought me to this place. I want to know why I am here, and how long you want me to stay. I want to know why it's me that has to be here and not some other teenager. I want clear explanations now." She said. You could hear the wrath in her voice, but the fright in her eyes was noticeable. Mr Lifter didn't say anything in regard, and just started walking, as she followed right behind him.
They found themselves standing outside a big wooden door, of what looked like the entrance to something Nobel, and of great importance. But when the door opened it was the most horrible thing she had ever seen.
The smell of blood filled that room as if it were a perfume you would be glad to have. The room was made only and exclusively of animal bones, and the marble was of a pure metallic color, just like the whole military bases she had seen the night earlier.
As she walked on that marble, the sound felt strong and mighty in the silence of the room. The room was large, full of sculptures. The sculptures were all representing a war of some sort, with humans on their death beds, with man screaming for victory next to the heart of a broken man.
The woman standing at the center of the room was short and skinny. She looked young, but at the same time, you could see an experience in her eyes that you wouldn't be able to see on a 90 year old lady. A scar past through the precise center of her face, marking a life of war. Victory and loss. her blonde hair was dirty by the dust in the air, and the look on that ladies face showed even more wrath then a man could have for the murderer of his own wife.
" I have heard stories, legends and fables about you. I have hunted you down through the streets of every city of the earth you lived on, I searched for all the information I might have needed to finally take you here. To finally have you in grip." She said.
Her voice was mighty. Not a crack in all those words. Her eyes were fixed Still on an innocent 18 year old, as if she were the killer of a whole family, a whole land.
" I am afraid I do not understand what it is you are contemplating to do with me. I request to have answers to all of my questions. I request to know what stories, fables or legends you claim you have heard about me. "
Said Joe, sounding not even half as strong as the lady. You could see a small light burning in the blood-red eyes of the lady. Before I knew what to say, she started telling the story by memory.
