Chapter 1: Just An Old Friend
The sun high in the sky and a cool wind softly blowing through Una's fur and passed her ears, making them fall back against her head as she felt the wind tickle them. She grunted a bit in irritation as she squinted one of her eyes, shaking her head slightly.
Una then scurried underneath her mother, Sadiki, making her chuckle a bit at her young cub trying to get away from the wind blowing into her ears.
"Mom," Una whined. "I hate wind. It's irritating my ears. Are we any closer to the Pridelands? I'm so tired of walking." She complained.
Sadiki chuckled again at her daughter, looking forward at a few rocks stacked on top of one another. It was a marker that Sadiki left after she left the Pridelands during Scar's reign and along the way meeting Una's father, Jabali. She smiled at the memory, remembering her kind-hearted mate.
Sadiki nudged Una with her paw, getting her cub's attention. "Una, you see those rocks over there?" Sadiki asked her.
Una looked forward, squinted her eyes in the direction her mom was facing. She faintly saw three rocks piled on top of each other. It was strange to Una but not to Sadiki.
"Yes, I see them. What about them?" Una asked her mother.
"They are a marker I put there long ago, when I left the Pridelands. Just in case I needed to go back some day." Sadiki said.
"Oh, yeah. Why did you leave in the first place, mom? You never really told me." Una said.
"I guess I can give you a few details. Hm, let's see... A terrible king with scar on his face ruled over the Pridelands after his brother, the king before him died. He sucked the land dry of resources until the Pridelands were nothing more but a grey wasteland. No food, no water, no nothing. So, that's why I left Priderock and the Pridelands all together," Una frowned at the story her mother was telling.
Everything sounded unbelievable but her mother never lied to her. "But, that's when I met your father and found a new home and then—." Una cut her mom off when ran out from underneath her mother and pounced up on her mom's muzzle.
"And then you had me!" Una chirped.
Sadiki chuckled. "Yes. Yes, we did." Sadiki smiled softly at her daughter.
"Come now, we're almost there." Sadiki said walking off.
"Right! Coming, mom." Una exclaimed running after to follow her mother.
*time skip*
Una was crouched on the ground, slowly moving like she was stalking something and she was practicing her pouncing on poor mouse that was scurrying to get away. Chasing after it as the mouse tried to get away from the young cub. Finally gaining ground Una pounced and caught the mouse underneath her paws.
"Yes!" Una squeaked as her eyes widened with excitement.
That's when Una looked up seeing lush tall grasses and many animals big and small. Squinting her eyes a little seeing a huge rock little ways away from them.
"Whoa..." Una trailed.
"This is it. We are here. It's back to the way it was. I'm so glad. That means he was alive after all." Sadiki said with a smile of relief on her face.
"Who's alive? Who are you talking about?" Una asked her mother.
"Just an old friend." Sadiki said.
'An old friend?' Una thought to herself raising an eyebrow.
"Come along then, Una. Let's get to Priderock before it gets dark." Sadiki said.
'Priderock?' Una thought. What kind of history did her mom have?
Once they enter the territory of the Pridelands, they already had eyes on them and the eyes in particular was the royal advisor to the king, Zazu. He noticed Sadiki and her young cub, Una, it was odd to Zazu to see the lioness with a young cub alone. So, with such information he decided to head back to Priderock to inform the king, Simba.
"Sire!" Zazu exclaimed to Simba.
Simba noticed the concerned look on the advisor's face. "Zazu, what's the matter? Something to report?" Simba asked scowled in seriousness as his advisor landed on the ground in front of him.
"Uh, yes sire. A lioness and a young cub have entered the Pridelands." Zazu answered.
"Were they alone?" Simba asked.
"I believe so." Zazu said.
"I see, I'll get Nala. Take me to them, let's see what they want." Simba said.
"Of course, sire." Zazu said bowing to the king as Simba went to get Nala.
Leaving the royal siblings behind Simba and Nala followed Zazu as he searched for the lioness with the young cub that Zazu described as 'about the young master's age' that was a big deal in Simba's eyes.
"Sire!" Zazu exclaimed. "Straight ahead!" He added.
"Thank you, Zazu. Try and keep them in one spot." Simba ordered.
"Right away, sir." Zazu replied as her flew ahead his master.
As ordered, Zazu perched on a tree a little ahead of the traveling lions to meet them half way. As they got closer, Zazu prepared to speak.
"Uh, hello there, madam, young miss." Zazu began.
Sadiki stopped and looked up at the voice of the royal advisor. Una did the same but, hid behind her mother's leg.
"Zazu?" Sadiki asked the blue advisor.
Zazu was taken aback a little once his name left the brown lioness's mouth her blue eyes widened with surprise. It seemed like she knew him.
"Pardon me," Sadiki said as an apology. "You probably don't remember me, forgive me. I mean I left so long ago and haven't come back since. I see the rightful king has returned." She said with gentle smile.
Zazu blinked a bit. "I see." How strange. This lioness used to live here in the Pridelands but who is this young cub.
Zazu!" King Simba's voice broke Zazu's stunned look as looked to his king.
"Sire!" Zazu called back. "Right here."
Simba ran up to the lioness with Nala close behind him. He glanced between Sadiki and Una, squinting his eyes a bit at her.
"Simba..." Sadiki smiled at the king. "I'm glad to see you again, young prince." She said as she bowed to the king.
Una flinched seeing the said King's eyes widened at what her mother said.
'What?! My mom knows a king! How?' She thought. Her mother did say she lived at this Priderock maybe she lived with this king when they were younger but wait, she eluded that he was dead but he is very much alive. Her mother did leave before Simba returned to the Pridelands so that's why she didn't know.
"Sadiki." Nala pushed past her husband and walked over to Sadiki.
"Nala," Sadiki gave her soft smile. "How are you? My apologies for being gone for so long I was little preoccupied as you can see." She said gesturing to her daughter.
"No, it's seems you were living a happy life, right Simba?" Nala asked her husband who still in a bit of daze.
"Yes. Sadiki, you've come back to the Pridelands. Why?" Simba asked after shaking his head a bit to get of his daze.
"Yes, well..." Sadiki trailed a bit as she looked at the ground.
Una frowned and decided to speak for her mother. "A wild fire spread through our Pride territory and it destroyed our home and we lost my father as well, so mom decided it was best if we came here, are we not welcomed, King Simba?" Una said.
All the grownups blinked at the young cub's explanation, she sounded very innocent yet very well spoken for a cub her age.
"Aww, Sadiki, who's this little one?" Nala asked.
"This is my daughter, Una. Don't mind her, she's quite like her father." Sadiki said as Una frowned a bit.
"Well, Una, your mother is old friend of ours so both of you are welcomed since your mother was born here just because she left doesn't make her an outsider, she's a pridelander like us." Simba said with smile.
"I guess that means we're heading back to Priderock." Sadiki said.
"Yes." Nala said nuzzling her a bit.
"Let's go, you lot we have lots to discuss." Zazu said.
"Yes, Zazu." Simba chuckled.
He turned to the brown lioness and gave her a gentle smile. "Welcome home." Simba said.
"Glad to be home, your highness." Sadiki smiled back.
'Priderock... here I come.'

A/n: new chapter! Finally, I know. Una meets Kion in the next chapter and I changed a few things regarding Kiara and Kion being around the same age they're not that where I think the Lion Guard is a bit flawed and writing Kiara how she was canonly written in the Lion King 2 so that's that.
See you in the next chapter!
