Chapter Two

"Where are you going now?" Yurio asked while stiffling a yawn as Victor sat on his horse, a beautiful white stallion that matches with his platinum blonde hair.

"To the neighbouring kingdom. I have some matters to discuss," Victor said sternly.

"Okay. Just don't drink cheap beer again. It makes me shudder how you actually enjoy the stuff."

"You haven't even tried alcohol, Yurio!" He said as he ruffled the boy's long blonde hair.

And off he went, Yurio staring at his older brother until he is nothing but a silhouette.

Yurio shrugged his shoulders as he walked away from the stable.

It's a nice day, Victor thought as his horse galloped on the dirt path to the neighbouring kingdom. Skies are blue, birds are chirping, flowers are blooming, wind is blowing...

BOOM!!!

First came the thunder, then came the lightning strike. After that came the heavy rain. This didn't dampen the prince's mood, however. He just kept going...

And going...

And going...

Before he knew it, he was lost in the woods. The dirt path he followed was washed away by trails of rainwater. He did not fret and kept going to the direction his instincts told him.

At one point, his horse stopped.

"Hey, what's wrong? Why aren't you moving?" Victor asked the horse. He got off the horse and inspected the area around them. He found nothing suspicious.

He pulled the reins of the stallion to convince it to move, but it wouldn't budge.

"Come - on - there's - nothing - there!" Victor said as he pulled the horse, struggle evident in his voice.

He accidentally let go of the reins and fell off a cliff behind him. He didn't see the cliff edge due to the slight fog and heavy rain.

He tumbled down the cliff before coming to a complete stop. He saw something from the corner of his eye but couldn't comprehend what it was before he blacked out.

Victor woke up with a gasp as he tried to understand what had happened. He reasoned it being a dream and fell back onto his scratchy bed - wait, scratchy? Victor immediately sat up as he looked around in an unfamiliar surroundings. So I did fall. It wasn't a dream.
Surprisingly enough, he didn't feel any pain, nor did he feel lightheaded. He just felt like he just had a bad dream.

"Oh, you're awake," a male voice said.

"I am awake," Victor responded as he tried to locate the source of the voice. His eyes started to adjust to the dim lighting as he saw someone sitting next to the light source. The person got up and got nearer to the prince.

The person happened to be a young ravenette, possibly in his early twenties. He had auburn eyes, with round glasses framing them. He had a face in the shape of a heart.

"Hello," the man said as he sat on a stool that was next to the bed. "How are you feeling right now?"

"Pretty fine, I guess," Victor answered, genuinely not feeling any pain.

"I'm surprised you're feeling fine. That was quite a nasty fall you took," he mused.

"I must have a high tolerance to pain then," Victor chuckled softly. "Where am I anyway?"

"You're in my humble abode. Sorry of it's not up to your standards," the ravenette said as he pulled his left leg to his chest, hugging it with his arm.

"Oh no no no no no, it's okay!" Victor said, frantically waving his hands.

"My standards are not even high to begin with," the prince added softly as he remembered Yurio telling him to not drink cheap beer.

They sat in silence for a while, the pitter patter of rain on the roof soothing. Ever so slowly, the heavy rain subsided into a light drizzle.

"I just realized we haven't introduced each other yet!" Victor said as he looked at the man.

"I've realized. It's just that, I don't remember my name. Not that I have amnesia or something, it wasn't that appealing to me in the first place, so I decided to forget it. I don't really use it anyway, since I'm not going out of these woods," the ravenette said as he stared at the candle on the other side of the small cottage, the only light source.

"I see. I'm Victor. I should give you a nickname, makes it easier to communicate."

"Can't think of any."

"What about your favorite food?" Victor asked the first thing that popped up in his head.

"Hmm?"

"Your favorite food will be your nickname!!!" Victor said with excitement.

"Well, I do like katsudon," the man said with a smile.

"Katsudon? That's quite a mouthful. Why don't I'll call you Katsu?"

The man shrugged, a half-hearted smirk creeping onto his face.

"Katsu it is!!!" Victor cheered before his stomach grumbled.

"Uh... I'd really like to try some katsudon, whatever it is," he added awkwardly.

Katsu chuckled as he prepared the ingredients he needed, Victor watching him with interest.
