Chapter 7
Edmunds pov
Today is my first class, I have to learn some fauns and Lily how to use a sword. I think I am going to begin to just learn them some basic moves like block and attack. Everyone is talking to each other.
"Quiet, today we are going to learn the basics of sword fighting but first I want to see how far you are in sword fighting. You are going to fight against each other."
They quickly do what I told them to do and surprisingly they are not that bad. The most of them knew how to defend themselves, but if you let them fight with someone who has a few years of experience they wouldn't stand a chance. After they are done with the fights I explain to them a few block techniques. I order them again to start fighting, one of the two always blocks and the other attacks. I go around if I can help somewhere. When I am by Lily is see she is holding her sword wrong.
"You have to hold your sword different, like this."
I grab my own sword and demonstrate the hold. She tries to copy me, but she still holds it wrong. I gently place my hands over hers and set her fingers in the right position. I can hear her heart that is beating fast, faster than it should be beating. Perhaps from the effort. Her back is pressed against my chest. I show her the right swing with the sword. The next time she tries, it is much better.
"See, you just need to practice a little. After all I won't be always there to save the day."
"Guess I just have to practice so you wouldn't need to save the day."
I raise my eyebrows and walk away. Normally no one has a comment after I say something like that, quite annoying actually. People never answer me back. I see that Trufflehunter has come to look how we train, well mostly to watch Liliana. But I have the feeling that Trufflehunter doesn't trust me. I have to be extra careful around him. Particularly with my sword fighting, when I was still learning how to fight with a sword in Aslan's camp the centaur who taught me told me that the next moves he was going to learn me were old Narnian moves who were very difficult, but once you mastered them you can surprise you enemy and win almost every fight, because not many know the moves. Sure, they know that they exist, but they don't even know the theory. But from what I have heard from that meeting in the woods Trufflehunter said "Some of you may have forgotten, but we Badgers remember well, that Narnia was never right except when a Son of Adam was king." And I suspect him he would be one of the few who remembered the old Narnian moves, just like the centaurs who are masters in the sword fighting like his old mentor Oreius. Although I don't think he can actually do them, he is not exactly a fighter.
The next day there is a meeting with Liliana, Caspian, Trufflehunter, Nikabrik and Reepicheep I am also expected, but I think it is more because Liliana has asked Caspian that I could be there. Nikabrik doesn't like any human and Trufflehunter and Reepicheep don't trust me. When I arrive at the stone table only Trufflehunter, Nikabrik and Reepicheep are there. They are talking silently, I can't make out what they are talking about but I think it is about me. My suspicions are proved correct when they stop talking when Reepicheep he sees me.
"What is wrong?" I ask.
"We are talking about the best technique to get Narnia back, a secret meeting."
"Hmm." I say and walk ahead.
