Rosie and Troy
P.E was the last period of the day. Mrs. Holt, the P.E teacher took roll before making an announcement to the class.
"Soon we're going to be starting our badminton unit. This is a partner unit so when we start you should think about who you want to partner with. Now today we're going to play kickball. Line up and remember where I put you." She boomed.
Romeo was put on the first team with Mark, Tyler Micks, Anna Zeller, Rosie Owens, Troy, Isaac Smith, Jamie Scott, and Juliet.
The second team had Emily, Eric, Ivy, Anthony, Kaylee Emerson, Kyle Aarons, Sean Draper, and Eloise Parks. They were starting in the outfield.
Romeo smiled at Julie who ignored him as she stood in line for kickball.
"Hey, Romeo, it looks like we're on the same team." A short, perky girl chimed. She had reddish-light brown hair that was pulled into two long pigtails and hazel eyes.
"Oh, hey..." Romeo began. Crap what was her name? He couldn't remember. Wait her last names was Owens wasn't it? "Owens..."
The girl huffed. "You can call me Rosie, Romeo."
"Okay, Rosie." Romeo not really caring. He turned back to watch Tyler Micks kick. The ball soared through the air and Tyler took of running. His team began yelling directions at him.
"GO! GO! KEEP GOING!"
"NO STAY THERE!"
The team yelled on. Julie rolled her eyes. Anna Zeller hopped up to Julie and the two began a conversation about their favorite books.
"I love that series!" Troy piped in, overhearing their conversation. Romeo glared at him, but the new boy took notice.
"Really? Did you know their coming out with a new one?" Julie asked.
Troy nodded. "Oh yeah! I'm sighed up for preorder."
"Nice! I'm planning on waiting to get my new copy signed by the author." Julie mentioned.
"What do you think of the new kid? Troy, I think that's his name." Rosie asked Romeo. He folded his arms.
"Yeah, that's his name. And I don't like him." Romeo grumbled.
Rosie cocked her head slightly. "Why? He seems a right to me."
"Yeah, well, all the girls seem to love him, so I'm not surprised you think that. But there's just something off about him." Romeo wasn't looking at her. He heard her, but he only had eyes for Juliet.
Rosie smiled at the brunette boy. "It's okay, Romeo, I think you're much cooler than Troy."
Romeo glanced at the much shorter girl. "Er... Thanks." He relaxed slightly.
Speaking of Troy it was just about his turn to kick. Rosie began twirling a strand of her hair in a very flirtatious manner. She bit her lip, nervously.
"You know, Romeo. I-"
"Oh come on!" Romeo exclaimed as Troy made it to the third base on his first run. He grumbled for a moment before turning his attention back to Rosie. "Oh sorry. You were saying something?"
"I was just wondering if you wanted to get some froyo sometime." Rosie wondered.
"Froyo?" Romeo questioned. He scrunched up his nose. Why did people call it that?
"Yeah, you know like frozen yogurt. It's like ice cream except healthier and stuff..." Rosie explained. Unbeknownst to the two of them Juliet was doing her best not to listen to their conversation and was failing miserably.
"I know what frozen yogurt is. Er... Maybe some other time." Romeo said.
"Oh... Yeah that's cool." Rosie waved her hand. "That's totally fine." She smiled, clearly faking it.
"Julie, it's your turn." Anna said to the blonde girl, who had stopped paying attention to the game.
"Oh right!"
Julie didn't care about Romeo. He could do whatever he wished with Rosie. She didn't care. She definitely didn't care. She was still mad at him.
But she did care, but she refused to admit to herself this fact.
