In Which Agent Cookie Returns
Anthony, Ivy, and Julie couldn't help themselves. Romeo was one of their closest friends. They had to spy on him. After all, to Ivy and Anthony, it was only fair. He had- with Julie's help- spied on their first date. Now they had to spy on his "date", as they liked to believe it wasn't a real one, with Rosie.
The three met at Puck's Creamy Dreams, the yogurt place they knew Romeo and Rosie were supposed to meet. They each ordered their favorite frozen yogurt flavor. Julie got raspberry lemon, Ivy got strawberry, and Anthony got mint.
Julie wore her favorite inconspicuous spy outfit of black sunglasses, a cherry red jacket, a black fedora, and her mom's black scarf. She just hoped Romeo wouldn't remember the familiar ensemble. He was a guy after all; how often did they remember clothes?
Ivy was looking rather normal, simply wearing a green hoodie pulled low over her face and a pair of her sister's fake glasses.
Anthony seemed to have forgotten that Romeo wasn't supposed to realize his friends were there as he hadn't even tried. Ivy shoved an extra pair of glasses onto his face, so that their plan wouldn't be foiled.
"Okay," Julie began in a quiet, almost whispering, tone. "We're going to need code names. And by we I mean you two."
Ivy raised an eyebrow. "You have a code name?"
In a flash Julie's face was rose pink. "It's Agent Cookie."
Her friends stared at her in disbelief. It took them a moment to fully realized Julie's nickname. They then, burst out laughing.
"That's so lame!" Ivy cracked up. "W-why?"
"Oh shut up." Julie grumbled, the pink not quite disappearing from her face. "Are you two going to keep laughing like hyenas or are you going to tell me your code name?"
"Agent McFly." Anthony stated. His friends gave him a curious look.
"Why?"
"Because Ivy and I's first date was at MARTY'S Smoothie Shack. Marty McFly? Get it?" Anthony said. Ivy smiled and laughed. She reached up to his height and ruffled his hair.
"You're such a dork." She chuckled. Julie rolled her eyes, suddenly feeling like a third wheel.
"How's it going with you two, by the way?" Julie wondered. They had arrived early so why not talk a bit?
"Good, at least I think so." Ivy announced honestly.
Anthony nodded, leaned over, and gave Ivy a peck on the cheek. Her face broke out in a wide grin.
"I get it. You like each other. Get a room." Julie rolled her eyes.
"Please, you and Romeo act way more like a couple then we do and you're not even dating!" Ivy teased.
"What's your code name?" Julie changed the subject.
"Agent Viper, because unlike the rest of you I want my name to sound badass." Ivy grinned, teasingly.
"What's Romeo's?" Anthony wondered.
Julie opened her mouth to answer, but as she glanced towards the door she noticed it slowly open. She saw a familiar red hoodie wearing hoodie. Julie couldn't help but notice the lack of emotion on his face.
"Shush he's here!" Julie stated.
It wasn't long before Rosie showed. Despite the fact that Rosie was usually a super sweet girl, Julie felt her face contort into a harsh expression. She couldn't help but glare at her classmate.
What was so great about Rosie anyway? Sure she was sweet, but that wasn't anything that special. There were plenty of nice girls Romeo could date. Even the thought of that made Julie's stomach turn.
"Hey, Rosie." Romeo tried to sound enthusiastic and failed. He merely sounded polite. "You look nice." Julie glared at the compliment. He stood up and walked over to the yogurt line. Rosie followed him, asking a question.
"Thanks, Romeo! What do you think you'll get?" Rosie asked, cheerfully.
"Um, raspberry lemon frozen yogurt?" Romeo wondered as he read off the board. "I'll try it." He shrugged. Julie coughed on her frozen yogurt. That was her favorite. Romeo's head whipped around and Julie lowered hers.
"Hmm, odd choice. I think I'll have the huckleberry." Rosie stated. Julie frowned. It was not an odd choice!
They sat down in a booth not too far away from his prying friends. They could easily hear their conversation.
"So... We're starting badminton tomorrow." Julie heard Rosie say.
"Cool."
"Do you know who you want to partner up with?" The brunette girl wondered.
"I don't know. Probably Anthony, but he'll probably pair up with Ivy. Maybe Eric or Julie." Romeo's tone hadn't gained any emotion.
Anthony and Ivy gave each other a knowing look. They were going to team up and crush the rest of their teammates.
Rosie's next statement caught Julie by surprise.
"Oh. You seem really close to Julie." Rosie frowned.
Romeo's next statement shocked Julie even more.
"Yep, she's like the coolest girl I know."
Julie gaped and Anthony and Ivy shared a smirk. A red blush flashed across the blonde's face.
"Oh... Okay." Rosie's frown grew. Julie almost felt bad for the girl.
"Er, I mean out of my friends- not that you aren't my friend- you're just different- a good different of course!" Romeo rambled, trying to make Rosie feel better. All his friends groaned.
Rosie giggled. "You're cute when your flustered." Julie felt anger bubble up inside her. She no longer felt bad for the girl.
"I'm what?" Romeo was taken aback by her words. "Er... Thanks?"
They went quiet for a couple minutes.
"So are you excited for the third Guardian Of Magic book?" Romeo tried to make conversation.
"I haven't read them." Rosie shrugged, more interested in her frozen yogurt. Julie couldn't believe Romeo could be into this girl! They were nothing alike!
"Oh." Romeo was disappointed. Julie loved that series. "You should have at least seen the movie. It was great. The movie was a great adaptation! And it was just a fun night! Julie kept trying to pelt people with popcorn and Eric asked Emily out. It was an awesome night." Julie felt the anger melt away. She beamed at the fact that he held that memory in such high regard.
"You sure seem to talk about Julie a lot." Rosie sighed.
Suddenly, Julie's interest was captured even more than it had been before. Romeo didn't talk about her that much, did he? Her blush grew once more.
"Yeah, well, I guess that's because besides Anthony she's my best friend." Romeo admitted. He paused before sighing. "That's all we are though." Anthony nodded at the statement.
"Good," Rosie smiled, placing her hand on his. "Because I really like you, Romeo." Julie bit down on her lip and glared.
"Uh... Well, this was fun." Rosie stated finishing her yogurt.
"Yep."
"Perhaps we should do it again sometime." Rosie suggested. Julie disagreed. They should not do it again sometime.
"Yeah, maybe." Romeo said, disinterested. They walked to the door.
"Well, see you!" Rosie said, as if waiting for something.
Romeo looked at her, confused. What else did she want? Oh! He raised his hand for a high five.
His friends groaned, Anthony doing so the loudest.
"Romeo, you- ugh. You don't understand girls." Anthony whispered.
Rosie stared at him. This was not going well. He was about lower his hand when Rosie responded with a weak and awkward high five.
Julie face palmed.
Rosie left and Romeo was about to follow her out.
"Well, it looks like our spying is done." Julie whispered to her friends. She stood up and walked towards the door. Ivy wanted to warn Julie as she noticed a chair sticking out, but it was too late.
"Aah!" Julie tripped. Romeo whipped around just in time for her to take him down with her. They both felt to the ground with an "Oof!"
"Julie?" Romeo said from the ground.
"Hi," Julie grinned sheepishly.
