Back to Work

Monday

3rd Person POV

The group of four are hanging out in catering. Nicole is sitting on Duncan's lap across from Caleb and Maryse.

Maryse: So Sting trained both of you?

Duncan: He trained me a little bit. I was mostly trained by Big Show and Kane. Oh, and HBK taught me how to work the mic.

Maryse: What about you, Caleb?

Caleb: I was trained by a few people. Uncle Sting, the Brothers of Destruction, and Ric Flair were the big four though.

Nicole: Both of you were trained by Sting and Kane?

Duncan: Yeah. Kane trained us at different times and Sting trained Winters since he was a kid.

Caleb: I've been lockin' in Figure Fours and Scorpion Death-locks since I was nine.

Maryse: I heard you're the striker and technician of your team.

Caleb: Sure am. Dunc is the one who likes throwing people around and slamming them down. I like punchin' 'em and makin' 'em tap.

Duncan: You also like jumping on them more.

Caleb: So do you. You just do it more like the Ultimate Warrior, whereas I'm more like Macho Man.

Nicole: What?

Duncan: He goes off the top rope, I don't. Not nearly as much as he does anyway.

Caleb: I try to do it at least once a match. I've seen your diving clothesline. Kane taught you well.

Duncan: Thanks. I might use it towards the end of a major match or if the crowd gets fired up enough, I'll do it.

Nicole: Awww the Monster has a heart. Y'know, going off the top is pretty dangerous. You'd have to be brave to do it and brave men deserve a...reward.

Duncan: Winters, I need you to teach me every top rope move you know. I'm about to get a reward!

Caleb: I'd love to help you out, man, but what's in it for me?

Duncan: I'll probably get hurt and you'll be there to see it.

Caleb: And just like that, I'm in.

Nicole: Why does my baby's pain always bring you joy?

Caleb: 'Cause even though we're partners now, part of me still misses kickin' the shit out of him.

Duncan: Aww I miss kicking the shit out of you, too.

The girls laugh at the guys' abnormal sense of humor. The French-Canadian Beauty has a lot of questions she's wondered for awhile and wants to make sure she gets some of them answered today.

Maryse: Other than Duncan, has anyone beaten you?

Caleb: Nope. Dunc was the first person, and the only person, to beat me.

Duncan: It wasn't easy either.

Caleb: It ain't exactly easy beatin' you. I had to keep hitting your legs and back just to get you down enough to actually lock the Death-lock in. You still didn't tap.

Duncan: Which match was this?

Caleb: The one we had at Hell in a Cell two or three years ago.

Duncan: I remember the start of it, not the ending.

Caleb: That's because you passed out while I had you in the Death-lock. The ref called the match and woke you up afterward.

Duncan: I don't think you've ever made me tap.

Caleb: No, I haven't. You'd pass out from the pain before you'd tap or you'd fight out of the hold.

Nicole: What about during your Last Man Standing Match? You locked it in and he tapped, didn't he?

Caleb: Not to my knowledge. He might have and I just didn't notice.

As they talk, someone approaches their table. He stands a few feet away and waits for his opportunity to speak. That someone is none other than Mike Mizanin.

Mike: Hey guys. Hi Maryse. Look, can I borrow Caleb for a minute?

Duncan: Go ahead, man.

The Southern Juggernaut stands up and follows the Awesome One to a nearby hallway. After they leave, Nicole, Duncan, and Maryse change the topic.

Maryse: I asked Caleb about why he gave up on love.

Nicole: So he told you everything?

Maryse: He told me that he had a girlfriend in high school that broke up with him and that he doesn't want to go through it again.

Duncan: That's the good half.

Maryse: What? That's not good.

Duncan: Compared to the other half, it is.

Maryse: How so?

Duncan: It's not my place to say. This is Caleb's story and he's the one you'll have to ask, which I wouldn't if I were you. All I can say is, the story with him and his ex doesn't end with the breakup. For the love of everything holy, don't push him about it.

Meanwhile, Mike and Caleb are having a completely different conversation.

Mike: Look, I just...I just wanted to the thank you. Seriously, thank you for looking out for Maryse.

Caleb: Of course, man. Don't sweat it.

Mike: It means a lot to her, and to me, that you and Duncan took her in. Maryse and I talked earlier and she said she had a lot of fun with you two. If there's anything I can do, just let me know.

Caleb: Can't think of anything off the top of my head, so you're clear for now. Good thing you came to me and not Duncan. He'd have you clean everything he owns.

They share a laugh for a moment. Then, the Southern Juggernaut pats Mike's shoulder and makes his way back to the table.

Caleb: See ya in the ring, bud.

He goes back to the table, but before he can sit down, Maryse stands up and pokes him in the chest, clearly upset.

Maryse: You lied to me.

The Country Colossus raises his hands defensively. He has a questioning look on his face and looks to Duncan and Nicole for help.

Caleb: I did?

Duncan, silently mouthing: The ex-girlfriend thing.

The Southern Juggernaut nods slightly, which Duncan returns, before he looks back down at the angry French-Canadian Beauty. He lowers his arms and crosses them over his chest.

Caleb: Okay, one: I don't lie, let's get that straight!

Duncan, mumbling: Oh shit.

Caleb: And two: I don't like talking about this part of my past. The first half is sad enough on its own, I don't need to be reminded of what haunts me the most! I don't need to be reminded of the one person I couldn't save!

Nicole and Maryse jump at his sudden volume. Duncan knew Caleb was going to get mad, which is why he told Maryse not to push it any further. He practically begged her not to push it, but she ignored him.

Maryse: Tell me what happened. Please?

Caleb: No...Not now. Not here.

Maryse: Then when? And where?

Caleb, sighing: I don't know. Just...drop it for now...for my sake.

Maryse:...Fine.

Caleb: Thank you. I promise, I'll tell you. Just not right now.

Maryse smiles a little, but when she looks up at the man, she sees the hurt starting to surface. The larger man tries to hide it with his signature smirk, but she can see through it. She doesn't say anything about it though. She's not trying to hurt the man. She only wants to get closer to him and know him better.

Monday Night RAW

Maryse is walking through one of the many hallways when she's approached by the Miz.

Miz: Maryse, what were you doing with Winters last week?

Maryse: I already told you. Nikki invited me to go with her.

Miz: Then where was she? I only saw you and Winters.

Maryse: She was with Duncan in the pool.

Miz: I don't want you anywhere near Winters or Duncan again.

Maryse: But I-

Miz: No. As your fiancé, I forbid it!

Maryse: You forbid it!? Earlier tonight, Winters invited me to sit ringside during your match tonight. Out of respect for you, I wasn't going to do it, but now, I'll have to reconsider.

The French-Canadian Beauty storms off angrily as the Miz calls after her. He's left standing alone when another person joins him. The large Southern Juggernaut has a bag of chips in his hand and finishes eating one of the chips before speaking.

Caleb: Wow, she looks pissed. What'd you do?

Miz stares at him hatefully. He doesn't speak for a long while, so Caleb reaches the hand with the bag of chips in it toward the Miz.

Caleb: Wanna chip?

Miz: I'll see you in the ring.

He storms off angrily while Caleb watches him leave with a smile. He chuckles a little while reaching into his bag.

Caleb: This is gonna be fun.

He eats another chip as the show cuts to commercial.

The Miz and Damien Mizdow do their entrance and make their way down to the ring. Tonight is the first time the Miz and Caleb Winters will meet in the ring as rivals in a one-on-one contest.

Backstage

As the Miz makes his entrance, Duncan and Caleb talk to each other.

Duncan: Are we debuting our new tag song tonight?

Caleb: Not sure honestly. They might wait to debut it at the Rumble.

Duncan: Works for me.

In the ring

The Miz and Damien Mizdow finish their entrance and wait in the ring. A theme echoes throughout the arena and causes everyone to jump to their feet, but it's not the theme Miz was hoping for.

The Juggernaut walks out with his arms over his head as the roar plays. He lowers his arms, then points towards the curtain. The crowd cheers once more as another theme plays.

The Southern Juggernaut walks out wearing his signature black trench coat and blacked out sunglasses. This time, he's carrying a steel chair. The Juggernauts make their way down to the ring, but doesn't climb up the steps like normal. Instead, he walks over to the announce table.

Caleb: Cole! Give me your chair!

Michael: W-what? I'm not-

Jerry: Give him your chair, Michael!

Michael: I'm not-

Caleb: Now, Cole!

Michael: Alright, alright. Here. Take my chair.

Caleb, taking the chair: Thanks guys. Here, take this one.

He hands Michael the steel chair before nodding at him and thanking him again.

Caleb: I'll give it back later. I just need it for...

He looks back at Miz, then turns back to Michael.

Caleb: Ten minutes? Yeah, ten minutes sounds about right, give or take.

He turns back around with a smile on his face. He hands Duncan Michael's chair, then enters the ring. Duncan sets the chair up at the side of the ring and stands next to it while Caleb and Miz stand toe-to-toe.

Miz: Wipe that smile off your face! Do you think this is funny!? This isn't a joke!

Caleb: It's funny like a joke.

Miz: Keep my wife out of this!

Caleb: She ain't your wife yet, boy!

The last remark causes Miz's emotions to get the better of him and he charges at Winters. The Southern Juggernaut side steps the Miz, causing him to miss the strike and look like a fool. Caleb starts bouncing around.

Caleb: Come on! That the best you got!?

Miz runs at him again, but it has the same result as the first time. He misses completely. Winters takes his sunglasses and trench coat off and hands them to Duncan. Meanwhile, Miz strategizes with Mizdow.

Winters stands in his ring attire, waiting for the Miz to finish talking. While he waits, Duncan talks to him from the apron.

Duncan: Having fun in there?

Caleb: Like a kid on Christmas.

Duncan: Don't get cocky.

Caleb: Hold that thought, Captain Solo, I've got a job to do.

Miz and Winters approach each other and lock up. Winters dips behind Miz and puts him in a headlock. The Miz backs them up to the ropes and pushes Winters forward. The Southern Juggernaut doesn't let go. Instead, he drags the Miz down to the mat, keeping the hold locked in tight.

The Southern Juggernaut forces the Awesome One to watch as the French-Canadian Beauty makes her way down to the ring. Duncan motions for her to sit in the confiscated chair formerly owned by Michael Cole. She sits down and makes herself comfortable

The Miz reaches for Maryse, but can't get to her as the Country Colossus has the hold locked in tight. Miz starts standing up, forcing Caleb to do the same. He elbows Winters in the gut a couple times, breaking the hold, then runs to the ropes. As he comes back, the 6'7" Marine jumps in the air and hits him with a dropkick.

Timeskip

Winters has had control of most of the match. Every time the Miz gets close to mounting an offense, Winters' mind games throw him off. Right now, Miz is down and Caleb is looking out at Maryse, who has her hands on her arms. He can tell from the ring that she's freezing.

Caleb: Are you cold!?

Maryse looks up at him with a questioning look. She points at herself and mouths "me?".

Caleb: Yeah, you! Maryse! Are you cold!?

She nods a little. Winters rolls out of the ring and grabs his jacket, which Duncan had folded and placed on the apron.

Caleb: Stand up for a second.

The Sultry Diva does as he requests and stands up. He unfolds his jacket and wraps it around her shoulders. It's way too big for her, but she finds it comfortable nonetheless.

Maryse: Thank you so much.

The Southern Juggernaut takes her hand in his and brings it to his lips. He gently places a kiss on her hand before speaking again.

Caleb: Anytime, darlin'.

He lets go of her hand and climbs back in the ring as Duncan lightly laughs at what just happened. The Monster knows his tag partner very well and knew having Maryse at ringside wasn't going to be the end of the mind games.

The Miz is making his way to his feet in the corner while Caleb waits on the other side of the ring. He looks down at Maryse, then out at the WWE Universe. He pounds his chest and releases a loud cry before launching himself at the Miz, hitting him with a Stinger Splash.

The Miz bounces out of the corner. Caleb isn't done with the assault and runs to the ropes on the other side of the ring before launching himself back at the Miz, hitting him with a Juggernaut Charge.

The Charge nearly cuts the Miz in half and causes Mizdow to be more concerned for his partner's safety than he already is. Caleb picks the Miz up off the ground while Mizdow tries to get in the ring. The ref stops Damien while Caleb hits Miz with a Winters End.

Damien backs off and the ref turns around in time to see Caleb grab the Miz's legs and lock in the Scorpion Death-lock.

Damien tries to get involved again, but is ripped off of the apron by Duncan. The Juggernaut headbutts Mizdow, then clears off the announce table. As he turns around Mizdow gets him with a cheap shot, causing him to hunch over. Damien makes the mistake of turning his back on the Monster, which he pays for when Duncan stands back up and nearly knocks his head off with a W.M.D.

The Juggernaut peels Mizdow's body off of the floor and hoists him up, then slams him down through the announce table with a powerbomb.

Meanwhile, in the ring, the Miz is desperately trying to get to the ropes. He tries to crawl his way to Maryse as he begs her to help him out of the hold. She doesn't move. Instead, she sits there and watches him suffer. The excruciating pain overwhelms the Awesome One, forcing him to tap out in front of his fiancée and the whole world.

Winters lets go of the hold and walks over to Duncan, who is still outside the ring. The Monster knows what the Country Colossus needs and hands him a mic from the timekeeper's area. Winters quietly thanks him before walking back over to where Maryse is. He holds the ropes open for her, allowing her to get in the ring and check on the Miz.

Caleb: Wow, that shit's gotta be embarrassing. Tappin' out in front of your girl? What will the in-laws think? Think about your family next time, Mizzy. Anyway, Maryse, thank you so much for coming out here. Did you enjoy the match? Have a little fun?

Maryse stands up and nods a little. She has a small smile on her face.

Caleb: Good. If he yells at you again, come find me and Dunc. We'll set 'em straight. There is one downside though. It looks like you'll need a new fiancé. This one right here...

He taps the Miz's ribs with his foot.

Caleb: Is kinda broken. Good luck with that. Make sure Mikey here gets to a hospital or somethin'.

He looks out to see where Mizdow is and notices the announce table is now in pieces.

Caleb: Oh, and get Mizdow some help too. Let 'em know the Juggernauts said "get well soon" and all that shit.

As he's leaving the ring, he notices something. Maryse is still wearing his jacket.

Caleb: You can keep the jacket, darlin'. Looks better on you than it does on me. We'll see you around, Maryse.

The Juggernauts leave as Caleb's theme plays. While they walk up the ramp, Maryse stares at the Southern Juggernaut with a smile. She looks down at herself as she pulls the jacket closed, snuggling in it and keeping it as close to her body as she can.

A/N: Thank y'all so much for reading. Sorry for keeping y'all waiting. Thanks again and I'll talk to y'all later.
