Week 18
I stared at my reflection in the mirror form the side. I had my shirt off so I can see the difference clearly. I ran one hand down my slowly swelling stomach. I was getting a little bigger then I though I would at this point. Not that I'm complaining, that means they're healthy, right? I'm kinda surprised about my lack of care for how big I'm getting or how much weight I've gained. I guess it's because it is actually kind of nice to see proof that the little ones are actually in there.
You know, other than the ultrasound I had with Mattie and the pictures I have of them.
Speaking of ultrasounds, Mattie will be coming over today to give me an 18 week check up. We'll be able to get see the genders of them today! I've been practicly vibrating with energy since I woke up this morning. Ivan even comented on my extra excitment a couple of times. Like he has any room to talk, what with him constently coming up behind me to give me hugs today fallowed by him asking how I was doing. It was cute at first, but has slowly been getting anoying as the day prgressed. I love him with all myt heart, and I love what he is trying to do, but this is a little exsessive.
Speak of the devil and he shall come.
Ivan walked into the room a few minutes latter. He looked over at me as I continued to stare at my reflection. I looked at in the reflection of the mirror before going back to look at my slightly swollen stomach. He quietly padded over to pull me into a tight hug. He had one hand resting on my stomach, rubing it occasionaly. His other arm wrapped around my chest to keep me close to him. I closed my eyes and cuddled deeper into him broad chest. A wide, content smile streached across my face.
"Privot Fredka. How are you doing today?" He asked me with a kiss to the side of my head.
"Just fine, big guy." I rolled my eyes as I turned around to face him. I wrapped both arms arounf his neck as his hands settled at my waist. "Just like how I was half an hour ago when you asked me, and the twenty minutes before that. And in another half an hour when you ask me again my answer will be the same 'Just fine, big guy'." I said teasenly, a playful smile on my face.
"It might change by then." He defended himself.
"Oh, whats going happen in the next half an hour? I'm going to go into labor?" I asked with a raised brow.
"Don't even play like that Alfred. You don't want to, as you Americans say, jinx it to happen." He deadpaned.
"Oh great, now you're superstisiouse." I giggled with another eye roll.
"Nyte, I am protective, and I won't let anything ever harm you." He said picking me up bridal style.
"Whoa! Ivan, put me down!" I giggled loudly as he carried me.
"As you wish moya lyubov." He said before plopping me down on the bed. He crawled on top of me, arms planted on either side of my head.
"Vanya! What are you doing?" I giggled, a big smile on my face.
He answered by pressing a kiss to my lips to which I happily returned. My eyes fluttered shut as the kiss deepened. He pressed closer, still being mindfull of the little ones. My arms rewrapped around his neck, keeping him close to me. I could feel his heart beat just over mine from where our chest pressed together. He lifted one hand to caress the side of my face. He pulled back slighty, just enough so we could lock gazes. I looked at him with a warmth and joy filled gaze. Love and adoration filled amethest eyes stared back into my sapphire.
While I always know that he loves me, this is one of those moments where I can really feel it. I could feel it all around us, like a warm blanket wrapped protectivly around us. Impenetrable, unmoveable, and always present in some way. One that can provide comfert on even the darkest of days and one that will make even the brightest of days seem all that much brighter.
"YA lyublyu tebya vsem serdtsem, moy podsolnukh." He said tenderly as he gazed down at me. A fierce blush lit up my face and I turnd away with a big smile on my face.
"How is it you always know what to say to make me blush like crazy? It's not fair, you know!" I muttered with a slight pout.
"I only speak truths, my dear Fredka." He said with a teasing smirk. I stuck my toung out him childishly, which only made him laugh in return.
I heard a car pull up into the drive way. Since my house is kind of out there not a lot of people show up besides my bosses or handler. Since niether of them have any reason to be here, left only one other possibility. My brother was finally here.
"Vanya, off, I think my brother is here." I said a little excitedly as I pushed at his chest.
He happily complied and helped me to stand up off the bed. I wobbled a little at first befor finding my balance. I gave him a smile to let him know I was okay, then made a bee line for the front door. He was right behind me as I picked my way down the stairs, ready to catch me should I fall. Just as I reached the bottom step the door bell rang. With an excites squeel I opened the door to a started Canadian.
"Were you waiting for me behind this door all day?" He asked me as I glomped him. He let out a small squeak as I practicaly crushed his lungs.
"No, but I wanted to. Ivan made me do other things though." I said with a fake pout. He laughed and steped inside to greet Ivan with a hand shake.
"So, are you two ready to see your little ones again?" He asked us with a small smile.
"Yes! It has been all that I've been thinking of for the past three days!" I chattered happily. "I can't wait to see their genders!"
"Okay, okay. Calm down before you work yourself into an early labore." He scolded me softly. "And I may not be able to see their genders today. They could be at the wrong angle for me to see it."
"I know, I know. I just prefer to be optimistic!" I grined at him as we made our way back up the steps. "You should always stay positive!"
"That's rich coming from you." He commented dryly, but I ignored it. I was too focused on trying to get us to the room.
"Be nice to Alfred." Ivan told Mattie with a small glare.
"Hey, no fighting!" I told them sternly. "Today is a happy day, okay you two."
"Da, sorry Fredka." Ivan said as he kissed the top of my head.
"Same, sorry Alfie." Mattie added with a slighly embarassed blush.
"Now, lets see the little cuties." I chirped happily.
"Okay, okay. You know the drill. Remember, the jell is cold." Mattie said as he got his equipment ready. I unbottoned the top of my pants and got on the bed. I layed back against the fluffy pillows I had. He brought the wand over to me and squeezed the cold jell on my stomach. I let out a gasp when it touched my bare stomach. "I reminded you."
"I hate you sometimes, Mattie. I really do." I growled out as I glared daggers at the colder nation.
"Hey, do not blame me because you can't understand a warning." He winked at me as I pouted. He started moving the wand around my now somewhat round stomach. "Aww, don't be that way Alfie. Look, a certain someone wants to see you. Or should I say a certain two someones." He said pointing to the screen. A large grin streached across his face.
I turned my head to look at my tiny, little babies. A warmth, almost giddiness, spread through my body when I saw them. They moved a little on the screen, like they were responding in kind to my emotions. The slightly larger looking one was moving around the most. I felt the little flutters in my stomach that I have been feeling for a while now. It was amazing to see them move at the same time I was feeling them.
"They're nice and active, especially the big one. That's good, it means they're healthy, and quite possibly future mischief makers." Mattie said with a smile. "Now let's see if we're looking at little boys, girls, or one of each."
I felt Ivan take my hand as we watched the screen change from him moving the wand around. He stopped at certain places to look before moving on to the next. Every once in a while he'll make a small noise. After a few minutes he put the wand down next to the monitor.
"Sorry, I wasn't able to see her or her sister's gender this time. We can try again next time. But they are healthy and at the right size." Mattie told me with a sympathetic smile.
"That's okay. As long as they're good and healthy, I don't mind." I said happily, a bright smile streatched across my face. I turned to look at Ivan who stood to my right the whole time. "Oh, I can't wait to see them though! They're going to be so cute, why are you looking at me like that?" He was giving me a dead paned look.
"Seariously Fredka. I know you can be dense at times, but this is a bit much, even for you." He said, keeping the look on his face the whole time.
"It's called baby brain. Most women when pregnent get it, but the specific resons why are unclear. While it won't hinder him too much, he won't be sharp as he normally is." Mattie explained to him, but I looked at them in confusion. They both gave me looks. Mattie was trying not to laugh while Ivan kept up the dead paned look.
"Alfred, repeat back to me the first setence he just told you." Ivan said shaking his head.
"Okay," I said a little confused as I gave him a weird look, "'Sorry, I wasn't able to see her or her sister's gender this time'. I don't get why you had me repeat it-Ooohhh." I said as it dawned on me exsactly what he said. "Oh my God, I feel so stupid."
"Hahaha!" Mattie busted out laughing.
Ivan rolled his eyes and pulled me forwared to kiss my forehead. "I love you Fredka." He sighed.
"I love you too." I let my head fall against his chest for a moment. I turned to look at my brother. "So, twin girls, huh?"
"Looks like it little bro. Congratulations, I know how much you wanted two girls." He congradulated me.
"Thakns bro!" I smiled happily at him. "So what do you think about that Ivan? Two little girls running around the house, wearing cute little bows, we can take them lazer tagging, paint balling when they're older."
"You just whent from one end of the spectrum to the other with them." He said with a small laugh.
"What? Every young woman should know how to use a gun." I said defensivly. "Need food? Use a gun to go hunting. Borring day? Take your gun out and go to the range. Bad date? Shoot him."
"You do make soldid points moya podsolnukh." He rubed my back.
"You two are going to raise some interesting children." Mattie shook his head as he finished cleaning up his medical equipment. "So, as for your pregnancy you're doing good. Nice and healthy, though I do want you to take a few vitamins now. I'll leave you a list, all of them you can get from any pharmamcy or vitamin store."
"Okay, I can run a store tomarrow." I said with a nod. "Are these just a procaution?"
"More or less. You're not defecient on any of them or anything. Well, at least not yet. Keeping up with your viamins will be benificial to both you and the girls." He said reasurringly with a small wave of his hand. "You're going to be fine though, so don't worry to much."
"I'll try not to."
"Good. So, as for your next appointment." He said pulling up his phone. "I'm going to be completly busy these next two weeks before the next world meeting. The only day I'll have off is in a week, but I know you're going to be busy then. So how about I do your check up during the meeting?"
"That sounds fine to me. We can show you're sisters! I'm sure they'll like to see them." I said cheerfully as I turned to Ivan again.
"They will love to see that." He agreed with a smaile and a nod.
"Great! I'll do the check up on the thrid day to give you two some time to settle in and calm down." He said as he typed away on his phone. "Also, these are for you."
He handed me some papers that I quickly realised were more pictures of my children. I looked down at the grainy pictures with a calm smile. I loved these little pics, even if they aren't hd quality. They still mean more to me then most other things that I own. These are pictures of my babies, my little girls. I would only trade them for my real baby girls. Nothing will ever hurt them, not on my watch.
"Earth to Alfred." I heard someone call out as a hand waved in front of my face.
"Huh, what?" I asked looking up at them.
"Got lost in your own little world their for moment, didn't you." Mattie asked with a small smile.
"Oh, yea, sorry about that." I apologized as I got up. "So what were you saying?"
"I was asking if you had names picked out." Mattie repeated.
"Oh, yea, kinda." I nodded my head.
"What's kinda?"
"I mean, we have the first names picked out. Alice and Whice." I started to explaine. "We don't have the middle names decided yet and we're not sure on what to do with the last names yet. We'll figure it out before then, so don't worry."
"Okay, I'm sure you'll come up with the perfect names for them, and as for the last name. Well, you'll figure it out." Mattie said with a slight shrug and a smile.
"Oh, yea, definetly." I waved it off.
We had walked down stairs to the kitchen. I was pick grapes off the vine in the small fruit bowl I had on the kitchen island. I've recently picked up a craving for grapes and pinapples that I can't seem to ever quite satisfy. I have actually sent Ivan to the store several times, even in the middle of the night, to pick up some of the delicious fruit.
"So how are you going to designe the baby's room? Or rooms?" He asked.
"Haven't really decided on that yet. I was thinking more a nature theam, Ivan wants a tradional themed room, so we haven't really picked too many things out yet. We have gotten several stuffed animals and couple of gender nuteral cloths, but nothing too crazy yet." I told him through a mouth full of grapes.
"We don't want to get too much until we decide on the theme of the nursery. We are trying to find a compromise for the room, but it's a little hard." Ivan added on with a nod of his head.
"That's cool. You still have a little time to pick, but not forever." He said with a slightly teasing tone. "Have you decided on doing a baby shower yet?"
"Not really. We are too busy to organize that, so we're probably just going to for go the party." I shruged with a half smile.
"Oh, really? That sucks." He said with a look of disappointment. "But it's whatever you decide. If you don't want to do one, then that's your choice."
"Yea, it does suck a little, but it's whatever. Less stress for me you know." I chuckled.
"Da, which is good. You are already busy making our children, you don't need anything else to worry about for now." Ivan said as he picked up my hand and kissed it.
"Aww. You're so sweet." I blushed lightly.
"Only for you moya lyubov." He told me sweetly.
"Okay, I'm going to bail before I throw up my lunch." Mattie said while fake gaging. I gave him a slightly irritated look for ruining the moment. "You two can go back to doing your own thing. Alfred, I'm going to drop off that paper work your boss wanted, them I'm out of the country. I'll see you two at the next meeting, okay."
"Sure thing Canadian bro!" I slauted to him. We escorted him out of the house, said a final goodbye, and watched him leave. When he was out of sight I turned back to Ivan. "Two little girls. I'm carring our daughters."
"Da, you are." He said pulling me closer to him. His arms warpped around my waist while my hands rested against his chest.
"I'm sorry one wasn't a boy. I know how much you wanted a son." I said sympatheticly as gev him a kiss on the cheek.
"That is okay my love. You can give me one next time." He said with a smile.
I pulled back a little and a gave him an incrediouse look. "Please tell me you're joking. You honestly think I want to go through this again?" I asked gestering to my stomach. "I haven't had sushie or coffe in months. I cant have it for another four and a half still. If you think I'm doing this again then you're out of your mind. Well, even more then usuall."
"I am sure I will be able to convince you other wise." He cooed.
"You're high."
