-Chapter 2-
Darkness.
I click the button on my flashlight and aim it down the hallway. Nothing in sight. I start to progress again when I hear a crumpling noise under my feet and look down. I pick up the piece of paper lying beneath my shoe and read it.
Find five objects in one minute.
One minute, holy hell! I don't even have a watch! I sigh in frustration, crumple the paper into a ball and throw it against the wall before walking deeper into the house.
I pause and listen. Are those footsteps? I peek around the corner and I can just see a faint light streaming down the hall, and metallic clangs coming closer. I gasp and run across, tripping in the process. My hood flops over my head, and I brush it and my hair out of my eyes as I peek back to see what I tripped over. A small rotary phone. Weird... there's a soft glowing light emanating from it. I pick it up and place it in my pocket. One down, four to go.
Just then, I hear the metal footsteps getting closer and I run down the hall, making a sharp turn down the corner before starting to walk again. That was too close for comfort.
I continue to walk through the house, and I head into a mini-hall and look around. It's really small, and you could make an office in here. When I turn around, I am greeted by a blue bunny and scream!
I slowly open my eyes and peek through my fingers. Then I laugh. It was just a poster!
I take the poster off the wall and look at it. A blue robot bunny with light red irises and a lighter blue muzzle and patches on its ears, wearing a red bow tie. Above and below the bunny are the words, "LET'S ROCK!" I grin and roll up the poster, stuffing it in my pocket with the phone. Three more to go.
Suddenly I feel a chill down my spine. The room was suddenly filled with dread, and the light in the room glows brighter. I slowly turn around.
"HOOOWWWWWLLLLLL!!!!"
I wake up, screaming and gasping for air. Thank GOD, it was just a dream...
Wait.
I look around at my surroundings. This is not my room. It's not a jail cell either, it's too cozy to be that. I'm back in the entrance hall.
I slam my fists into the wooden floor. "GOD--" I start to scream, then stop. If the cops are still out there, I could alert them with my shouts. I sigh and look to the wall beside me, where there is a note hanging. I take it off and read it.
Strike one.
