-Chapter 1-

I slam my car door open and make a run for it, grabbing my flashlight along the way. "Hey! Stop!" I hear a cop shout and my feet hit the pavement, taking me into the woods. I can hear footsteps close behind, so I make a quick turn and zigzag between the trees as fast as I can. They quickly surround me and someone says, "Taze him! Taze him!" I see the taser hooks coming fast, so I roll and dodge, then spring up and jump over a log. I run faster, my lungs burning, my breathing heavy. I hide behind a big tree and the cops run past, the light from their flashlights illuminating the wet grass and soggy dirt.

I start to run again, not caring where I'm going. I just have to go.

Suddenly, I slam into something and fall to the ground. "Ow..." Rubbing my nose, I glance up. What is a house doing in the middle of the forest? I slowly stand up before the house and walk around. It looks pretty old, and there are no driveways or yards. An house like this would at least have a backyard or something. It looks abandoned, though, the white paint on the outside peeling and the wooden walls cracking from water damage. I look around and find the front door, opening it and closing it behind me as I walk in.

The entrance hall looks fairly undamaged, the walls are painted white and the wood floor is dusty, but otherwise fine.  A radio is on a table, playing an old jazz song. I stand by and listen for a bit before realizing... The radio isn't plugged in. How is it...?

Maybe It runs on battery? I pick it up and flip it around, looking for a battery slot.

Nothing. It can't be running on solar power, because there's no solar panels. This is starting to get creepy. I walk back to the front door and open it to leave, But... just faintly, I can see three shadowy figures, all with two glowing spots where their eyes would be. One has... bunny ears? The next has three sprigs of hair poking out the top of their head, and the last one has some kind of fox or dog ears. They all look like skeletons.

Yeah, no.

I close the door again and sigh. Seems like the only way to get out is to go in.

Does that make sense?

Probably not.

I walk down the hall and go to open the door at the other end, but strangely, it opens itself. I admit, I saw that coming, but it still sent a shiver down my spine.

I take a deep breath and walk through the door.
