Ch.1 Starting at the Basic

Music.

It can dictate a person's mood based on their interpretation on the song, whether it be through the lyrics or beat of it.

It can connect people, as everyone gathers to sing the lyrics of an upbeat song to share the good vibe.

Upbeat music that makes a person want to jump up and dance or tap their foot to the beat and rhythm.

But what can make a person hate a song can be for various reasons, including; not relating to the subject matter, not enjoying the artist, or listening to the song itself on a repeated basis.

This is what feeling the previously peacefully sleeping teenager experienced as her alarm went off, playing an upbeat song that she intentionally picked in hopes of positively motivate her and her mood for the day. In retrospect, it did the opposite.

'Time to hate this song now.' Hailey grumbled in her mind, begrudgingly throwing her warm blankets off of her body.

She sat up and turned off her alarm on her smartphone, checking her notifications and noticing a text message at the top from the contact 'Mumsy' (which belonged to her mother's number).

(6:35 am) Mumsy

Hey Hails, sorry I'm not able to see you off this morning (one of the new mechanics happens to be a nimrod and blew up a lab- so I have to go and check the damage). But I love you and am proud of you for getting into U.A. - you'll do great!

Hailey smiled at the text message, feeling some joy seep into her chest and spreading a smile to her face. Her mother's support was important to Hailey, as her validation was what was motivating Hailey to pursue a career in becoming a hero.

Her mother already had made an impact in the city of Musutafu, with her hero agency being established two years ago. It gave Hailey a bit of comfort in having a reason for being in the new setting and having someone familiar with the city life and hero industry (without being a hero) with her.

The move from her hometown was very significant to Hailey, as her sentimental attachment proved to be a large factor that would have kept her from following ambitions like this.

But her two best friends were present when her interest in being a hero sparked, through her research in finding what she needed to pursue her new dream, when she received the holographic letter of acceptance to U.A. and helped her pack her stuff into boxes on her last day of being in her childhood home. They were her best friends throughout her life, being her biggest support system with both her family situation and aspirations.

Hailey noticed the framed picture that rested on her nightstand of her and the boys posing with funny expressions with the background of green, yellow and purple northern lights. Her smile widened at the sight of them. Luka, who makes music sound like a language as he uses it to communicate his feelings to others, his calm demeanor made it easy to talk to him about anything, but he was able to make a witty or flirty remark that reverted him back to a human being rather than the ideal therapist friend. Yuri, the figure skater that graced the ice with his talent and made him look like an angel, which was ironic, being that he was a rude, aggressive, blunt and tough-love kind of guy.

God, she missed them. But Hailey promised to video call them to tell them the details of how her first day went, not sparing any time to hide thoughts about anything at all. It's what she had to look forward to after it all, even if it went horribly or amazing.

Hailey made her way to the bathroom to shower, as she washed her body, she noticed the bruises that she had collected from the entrance exam that she took in order to qualify for attending U.A. had finally faded. It gave her a taste of what it was like to be a hero, and also gave her an excuse to show off her skills and quirk to people. 46 rescue points and 30 villain points, resulting in her receiving 76 points and third place in the overall ranking system.

It still baffled Hailey that she did so well in the exam overall, being that she got vague advice from her mother and her colleagues, only acting on what she felt was right in her reaction time and morality.

Her shower was quick, being that Hailey didn't want to be late for her first day and also knowing that her lack of sense of direction was terrible, so she'd need the extra time to find her classroom before classes started. After she stepped out of the shower and dried herself, pulling her hair up into a towel to dry as she got dressed in her uniform.

Her excitement was making her body vibrate with adrenaline, which the shakiness proved to make it difficult to pull up her knee-high socks.

Bending down to smooth out the socks, Hailey realized the risk that posed with the length of the uniform skirt with revealing her selection of underwear for the day. So, in hopes of combatting her underlying fear, Hailey reached in her drawer and pulled out a pair of black shorts, pulling them under her skirt.

Upon hearing her phone dinging, signaling that it was about five minutes before Hailey's desired time to leave the home. She quickly rubbed her hair with the towel and ran a brush through her long auburn red hair, while running down the stairs of her home and into the kitchen. Hailey threw the hairbrush on the high island counter as she opened the fridge, grabbing the almost empty carton of orange juice and two slices of leftover pepperoni pizza on a plate. She put the plate in the microwave and set it to cook for 45 seconds (her lucky microwave number) and grabbed a glass from the cupboard to pour her orange juice into.

"Gotta have a proper breakfast." Hailey muttered in half amusement, before washing out the carton and tossing it into the recycling bin.

She slid across the tiled floor to reach the microwave as it beeped, Hailey grabbed her pizza and blew on it to cool off the steam. Hailey folded the square slice and shoved it in her mouth and quickly downed the orange juice as soon as the heat was burning the inside of Hailey's mouth.

Hailey checked her watch to see the time before grabbing her long single strapped schoolbag and rushing out of the door to catch the train.

"Holy god damn." Hailey whispered in awe as she arrived on campus of U.A.

Although she was already here prior with the entrance exam, but the sheer size of the school building still left Hailey filled with excited nervousness. The anticipation to start the next three years of her life was about to begin the minute that she entered her classroom.

Other students were already walking into the building and Hailey didn't want to be that idiot who was dumbstruck for the whole day and miss her classes, so she followed the crowd, doing her best to follow the signs to her designated classroom.

The great Class 1-A.
