Chapter 10: The Gatekeeper's Brother

The dust flew up behind us like a whirlwind, we were sprinting, the gates of Diamond City stretched in front of us, we had just barely gotten into Boston when a giant mutated dog had spotted us.

Aurora was unarmed, and me and Léon didn't have the right equipment to deal with it.

So we ran.

We finally reached the mountainous green gate. On the gate it read in blue, loopy letters.

Diamond City: The Great Green Jewel of the Commonwealth.

The dog was pacing behind us, like it was scared of the gate, and eventually, it sauntered off, leaving us at the gate.

"Well, we're here...." Léon said breathlessly, holding the stitch in his chest.

"Yeah...." Aurora was doubled over and out of breath, leaning against a pole.

I walked up to a intercom, held the button, and said in my most diplomatic voice.

"Hello? Can you let us inside?" At first it was static, and then a loud, smooth male voice spoke back.

"State your names and business outsiders." I recognized the voice, it was Ryan, the usual gate guard, and one who knew us.

"Ái, Léon, and Aurora, we are here to buy parts for a mechanical arm, a sensor, if you want the technical information." I said, waiting for him to open the door.

"Nope, can't let you in, no one gets in or out, especially you, bitch." It was a different guy this time, his voice was high and I could already tell he was an ass.

I was about to tell him off when I was shoved out of the way by Léon.

"Now listen here you little jackass, you don't talk to her with that tone of voice, or I will come in there and throttle you myself, do you understand?!" He yelled into the intercom, his face red and his fists balled.

"Come in and get me blondie!" The guy called back, confident that Léon could not get to him.

"Manny! That's enough! You apologize right this instant young man!" I heard another deeper voice come from the intercom.

"Fuck you old man!" Manny, as I assumed he was called yelled, and then there was silence for about five minutes.

"Come on in, sorry about that Ái." Ryan was back and he sounded like he had just run a marathon.

"Léon, please don't break the intercom, I just had it fixed from the last time." He added, and the big metal gate slowly opened.

Laying in the floor was a fifteen year old boy, he had a black eye, red welps all over him, his nose was bleeding and he was unconscious.

"I'm going to assume that is Manny." I said matter of factly. He had off colored red hair, freckles, and a pair of very large, very thick glasses. Not at all what I expected him to look like.

"I hope so, that little brat needed the tar whooped outta him." Léon crossed his arms approvingly.

"That is my younger brother, Dad just beat the living hell out of him." I heard Ryan's voice from behind me and I whipped around.

He had dull, grey eyes, black hair with his off colored highlights, and was giving me a smirk. His long trench coat sliding on the floor behind him.

"Hey Ryan, I didn't know you had a brother." I said, quickly giving my old friend a hug.

"Neither did I till about a month ago, Dad, uh, had an issue..... with uh-" I cut him of by chuffing.

"Say no more, well we're here guys, Aurora, you can go explore, me and Léon are going somewhere..." I tucked my arm around his and looked up at him.

"Noodle Place?" He said with a smirk.

"I think I'll keep you around." I replied.

A/N yes short, I know, but I had like five tests today and didn't have time to pull my phone out and write. Next one should be the normal 1100 words.
