Chapter 24

-Miranda P.O.V.-

It wasn't long before I led Cyrus' s friend to the healing tent, Cyrus draped over his shoulder, when he put the hood over Cyrus.

"Is that really necessary?" I asked him.

"If you want him to be found out." came his reply.

"Oh." I reached the front of the tent, and I opened the front flap. "He can use this for now, but I'll warn you that Alyssa won't like the whole 'magic aura' being around him."

And before he could answer that, I walked out of the tent briskly.

I walked far off, until I couldn't see the  tent at all, and I heard the thunderstorm cry out. I reached a cliff face, and I sat underneath an overhang of sorts.

I brought my knees close, and I began to cry. I couldn't take this is like I normally could. I thought that I was alone in this world. This has to be this world's Cyrus.

Speaking as how there were doppelgangers of the people that I knew, I wanted it to make sense to me.  I stopped, and I saw Alyssa walking into the healing tent.

Oh no. I told Cyrus's friend that Alyssa would be intrigued about the magic.

I quickly scrambled to my feet, almost tripping on myself as I ran back into the direction of the tent.

As I entered the tent, I saw Alyssa and Cyrus's friend engaged in what seemed to be a staring contest, the friend right in front of Cyrus, obscuring the view.

"Miranda," she began, "What's with the magic aura I'm sensing?"

I have her a blank stare. "What do you mean by that? I don't feel anything." I replied.

"Well, there is one, and it's coming from him," she pointed at Cyrus's slumbering body, "And let's not forget to mention that he came with the ruthless bounty hunter, Rabbids Master." The friend's lips curled into a smile.

"I'm only here because he asked for help." He replied.

"I don't trust this, you and your shady friend there." Alyssa began to approach but the Martin entered the room.

"Leave them be." He just proceeded to patch up his injuries.

"But I don-"

"Just. Leave. It." He clenched his teeth.

Alyssa thought for a moment. "Fine." Alyssa spat, and she began to walk out. "But if they bother anyone-"

"They'll get the cut. We get it."

"You better." And with that, Alyssa walked out of the room.

I looked back at Martin. "You better know what you're doing." was all he said before he too left the tent.

Silence gripped the room, and the friend turned around. "Sorry for all the trouble. Cy just wanted to find you, and he asked me for help." He explained, almost dejected.

"It's fine. After all, we need to go home." I replied.

"Ah, I see. He hasn't told you yet has he?"

I hesitated to give him a response. "What do you mean by that?"

"I think that's for him to tell you. He's beginning to regain consciousness."
