Chapter 19

-Cyrus P.O.V.-

Martin had changed, and it wasn't for the better of anything. He was such a timid and shy child back then... What had changed?

Was it the fact that the Miranda of this dimension died? Or was it due to my failure to keep the promise I made long ago? It never dawned on me that it was necessary for me to go back here. If anything, I guess I was trying to stay away from here, as far away as I could from the place that scarred me emotionally as a little kid.

But I was no longer that little kid that hid the truth from my friends, who I thought of as my true family.

Martin swung his sword in a downward slash, but I barely managed to parry the blow, knocking me off balance for a split-second.

Martin saw his opportunity, and begun to use a flurry of strikes, forcing me to block each and every one of them barely.

"What changed huh?" Martin yelled, I spat on the ground. Rain had begun to pour down over us as he stood only seven paces away.

"I-" I tried to speak, but I was too shaken up from his words before to even respond.

"You played with us.. You took us to places we've never been... You had fun with us... You even PROMISED us that we'd all be a big family!!! So, WHAT HAPPENED?"

"I... Don't know..." I was speechless. I raised the sword to my eyes, and gazed at the reflection within it. I saw that my eyes weren't as what they used to be. They were once bright and cheerful, but with the current events, they took a more pale look.

I realized how stressed I had been within the past years... I had been obsessing so much with Miranda from the other dimension that I'd forgotten what promises I had made. I lowered my sword, my eyes averted to the ground. Rain soaked my hair, flowing through it like a tiny creek down my face.

I heard quick splashing and before I could look at the source, I was tackled into the ground by Martin. I fell flat on my back with a thud, my back aching in the process. I shut my eyes at the impact. This wasn't like Martin, or myself in that matter.

I opened them to see Martin sitting on my stomach, his fur matted to his body, anger flooding his eyes. Even though he was older, I guessed he always looked up to me. He held large admiration for me, and I ruined it with the death of his little sister.

He abruptly punched my chest, knocking the wind out of me. He then begun to use his fists to crash into my chest, as if he was venting out the anger and frustration that was built up in him, and I couldn't blame him.

And after ten minutes passed, I decided to finally fight back. I used my right arm to grab his scruff, and pulling it down, himself following suit. I loomed over him, and I nailed him in the nose.

He then pushed me over and darted to his feet quickly, knocking me off balance. He kicked my ribs hard, and I swear I felt several of them crack or break. I tried to stand up, but Martin quickly headbutted me, making me flinch, and he nailed me with a Twelve Series Fists Technique.

I doubled over and fell to my hands and knees, my head facing away from Martin. I closed my eyes for my punishment. But instead, we were interrupted by a loud "Stop!" command.

My mind was unless up so much that I don't quite remember what happened next, but the next thing I knew:

Miranda was hugging my body, sending pain messages into my brain, but I ignored them.

For I was with the woman I love, but never have the courage to say it.

Quick Note:

I am proud to announce that I have gotten back into the swing of things. I am also willing to say that each chapter will be longer and that I'll be updating more often. Thanks for keeping up in all the new chapters of my books!

Many thanks,
