Preeti's point of view

It's been two days Keerti come back home. She was looking more than happy before. Her eyes glowed in happiness and her smile reached to her eyes. I am happy to see her happy but I felt hurt when she talked happily with everyone except me. She didn't even hug me and told me about her trip when she came back from home. Whenever I tried to talk to her she ignored me or walked out from there. She looked at me with hatred.

Had I done something wrong to hurt her? If yes then I am ready to apologize her. I can't see hatred in her eyes for me. Before that she used to treat me like her elder sister and tell her every secrets which she didn't tell anyone and I also respect that at least she share things with me but I don't know why she is hiding things from me about her and James. Why she lied that she was in Europe when I saw her at grocery store and why didn't she come home at Siddharth's birthday, if she is in the same city.

Today she came home early from office and I decided to talk to her. I will apologize to her if I hurt her unintentionally but I can't let her ignore me.

Mom and I was in kitchen preparing for the dinner. Mom was cooking all keerti's favorite because she came home after two week. So according to mom she is going to feed keerti, her favorite food for whole week.

"Preeti beta...Please taste this and tell me how the taste is." Mom asked me while feeding me curry with spoon from her hand.

Mom was looking at me with her curious eyes and waiting for my response on her dish.

"Mmmm..it's delicious Mom." I said. Mom's lips curled into a huge smile looking at my reaction.

"I hope keerti like it." Mom said while striding the curry.

"She will.." I said while continuing my work.

I was making a coffee and evening snacks for her. Since she returned from her office trip she didn't let me do her any work even Nancy gave her evening snacks in her room. I trued many time but she always comes with the excuses and didn't let me touch her things. But today I decided I will talk to her.

I put the sandwich and coffee in a tray and walked towards her room.

Knock..knock

I knocked her bedroom door and wait for Keerti's response but when she didn't give any response I twisted the door knob and opened the door slowly. She was talking to someone on phone with a huge grin on her face and rolling a strand of her hair around her forefinger. She was blushing and chucking while talking.

"I'll call you later." Her grin wiped off from her face when her eyes fell on me and she cut the call.

"I'll bring snacks for you." I said with a smile. I sat on the bed in front of her and put the tray between us.

She just hummed and nodded her head slightly.

"How was your office trip?" I asked while giving her a coffee.

"It was fine." She answered blankly while taking the coffee from my hand and put it back on the tray.

She took the tray from bed and put it on the bedside table. I looked at her every move and felt little bit hurt when she didn't touch the food which I bring for her.

"Keerti..I want to talk to you about something." I said while putting my hand above hers.

"Bhabhi I am tired. We will talk later and please take food tray also I'm not hungry. " She said while removing her hand from mine and got up from the bed.

I also got up from the bed and said, "Keerti I know you are tired. But I will take only few minutes."

"What...?" She said curtly while folding her both hands on her chest.

I looked into her eyes for some warmth but she was looking at me coldly.

"Do you really went to Europe? If there is something you wanna talk about, you can tell me. You don't have to be afraid from anyone. I am always here for you." I asked her firmly and friendly and cupped her right cheek lovingly.

"What do you mean by that I went to Europe in actual or not? Is that why you are calling me again and again to confirm that I'm at my office or not?" She said while jerking away my hand away from her cheek.

"I saw you and James at the grocery store, the day before Siddharth's birthday." I said.

"Are you stalking me Bhabhi?" She said angrily while knitting her eyebrows.

She took me wrong. I didn't mean that I just wanted to help her.

"Keerti you misunderstood me. I saw both of you there. I thought you wanted to give surprise to Siddharth so I called you. I was worried for you." I said while taking a step towards her.

She scoffed and said, "you won't believe me...wait here."

She walked angrily to her closet and takeout her handbag.

"These are the papers of my new project for which I went to Europe and these are the tickets of my flight."

I flinched and took a step back when she threw a pile of paper angrily on floor.

"I can't believe, you call my office to confirm that I was in Europe or not. It's cheap bhabhi." She spat.

"What..? I didn't call in your office. I will never do that. What are you talking about? Keerti, I know you and James love each other and now in a relationship. I wanted to help you both talk to Siddharth. Please don't hide anything from him. He will be hurt latter if you hide things from him." I said calmly and firmly try make her understand.

"Huh!...talk to bhayi.." she scoffed and continue, "I know my brother batter then you."

"Keerti..Please try to understand." I said try to make her understand but she held my forearm and drag me out of her room.

"Don't act so innocent bhabhi. I told you before don't poke your nose in my personal life and yes I and James are dating. What will you do huh? Tell bhayi..then Please go...tell him. Anyways now days his world revolves around you." She said furiously.

"Keerti..." I whispered and she slammed the door shut on my face.

It's been a week now since Keerti talked to me. She only talks to me in front of everyone and gave answers in 'yes'  or 'no' of my questions and that to be if I asked in front of others. I  tried to apologize to her but whether she ignored me and walked out from there or gave me cold shoulders. It hurts when she doesn't talk to me.

I decide, now I will not bring the topic of her and James relationship to her. I think I am rushing things. I should give her sometime to understand her and James relationship and maybe after that she herself asked me to help her to talk to family or she and James directly talk to Siddharth. But what if Siddharth will get angry on them and burst on me that I also hide things from him because I can't lie to him. What if he also get hurt from me. We both promised that we will never hide things from each other. No matter what, we handle things together and here is the question of her little sister whom he love like his daughter.

Mom took me and keerti to orphanage home to distribute food clothes and books. Nick's Mom Nataliya aunty also joined us there.

It was really a heart warming to give necessary things to the needy children. Kapoor groups is the trustee of that orphanage home and donates huge amount of funds every year to provide education and many needy things to the children whose parents died.

Nataliya aunty took mom with her to her home so Keerti is giving me a ride back to home. She is driving silently and didn't even said a single word to me since I sit beside her in the car. She is still angry on me. What should I do to ask her forgiveness. I am sorry that I doubted her that she was in New York all the time. Maybe I saw some other girl with James and misunderstood her with Keerti but I swear on Siddharth I didn't call in her office for any kind of confirmation. Why would I do that? It's  cheep to stalk someone but why she said that I called in her office.

Suddenly keerti pulled over the car on side.

"Bhabhi an important work came up. You wait here. I'll come back in fifteen minutes." She said while looking at the text in her phone.

I looked around to my unfamiliar soundings. I have never been before this side of city.

"Keerti but I am unknown to this place and I never been this side of the city." I said while looking around and then her.

"Bhabhi it will take me only fifteen minutes and don't worry this side of the city is safe. There are people around. You will be fine." She said looking at me blankly like she is waiting for me to get off from the car.

I think she is right. There are people around so I'll be fine and it will took her only fifteen minutes. But after that night incident I always afraid to be get alone in unknown area.

"Okey..take care." I said and nodded my head. I opened the car door and step out from the car.

I looked at keerti's car till she took a left turn and hide from my eyes. I stood aside from the road and wait for keerti.

After spending a months I am still unfamiliar of many places in New York. It's a big city and you can lost in it in just blink if you are not with your local friends or relatives and I am bad with unknown places. My mind stop working if someone leave me unknown places. It will took time for me to get familiar to place for everyone and I am not the exception, especially when the place is as big as New York.

This place is at the outskirt of the city not much crowded only two stores few pedestrian walking to their destination.

It's been a more than thirty minutes I am waiting here for keerti but she didn't come till now. I called her many times but it was only ringing and later went on a voice mail and from the last fifteen minutes I am feeling someone's gaze on me like someone is watching my every move closely and it gave a fear of chills to my whole body.

My heart is beating faster then it's normal pace and sweat is forming on my forehead when the feeling of being watch scared the hell out of me. I don't want the night repeat again. I can't get lucky every time. I took my phone and keerti again and keep waiting for her to pickup my call.

Sid's point of view

"No..Nick..we are talking about a aquarium under water. We have to check all the possibilities of tsunami, force of waves, winds and earthquake and then proceed our designs." I said while looking at the drawing of are new aquarium project under water.

This project is interesting and as well as challenge too. Usually architecture designing is Nicks department but  looking at the risks and challenges I handle this project personally because I love challenges.

"I think you are right we have to check the design again." Nick agreed with me while nodding his head.

"Emily call the meeting with our architecture team who is working in aquarium project. I want to see their presentation personally." I ordered Emily through phone and hang up without hearing her answer and called Andrew, Kapoor Groups security head and my personal bodyguard.

"In my cabin right now." I ordered and hang up after hearing his reply.

"Is everything alright?" Nick asked me while folding the drawing.

"Sir.." Before I could answer Andrew walked inside my cabin.

"Have you looked the matter I told you?" I asked him in my bossy tone.

"Me and my team are working on it sir. But we didn't get a lead on this matter." He said.

"Okey..update me as soon as you find something." I said looking at him.

"Yes sir." He said while stood there in a straight posture.

"Now leave." I said.

Before Andrew his father work for Kapoor Groups as a security head. Dad hired Andrew for my personal bodyguard  but after his father's death he took his father's position and work as a head of security guard of Kapoor Groups.

"What matter are you talking about?" Nick asked me after Andrew leave from my cabin.

"To find Jeffrey Smith." I said while looking at some project report.

"Why..?" He asked me confusingly.

"I will tell you later." I said looking at me.

"Okey...as you say. Inform me also if you find something." He said while getting up from the chair.

I nodded my head while looking again the file and I heard the footsteps discarded from my cabin indicating that Nick leaves the room.

My phone started ringing and my lips curled into smile when I saw Preeti's name flashing on my phone screen.

"Hello..." I said after picking up her call and leaned back on my chair.

Today first time she went to visit orphanage home with mom and Keerti. She told me many time to take her there but due to my busy schedule I didn't get a time so today Mom took her to visit the orphanage home.

"Siddharth..." I immediately straightened myself when I heard her trembling voice.

"Preeti...what happened?" I asked her worriedly.

"Siddharth.. will you come to pick me." She said in her shaky fearful eyes.

"Preeti..calm down. First tell me where are you." I said firmly try to calm her and get up from the chair.

"I don't know where I am. I have never been this side of the city. Siddharth I felt someone's eyes on me. Like someone is watching me from afar and observing my every single move." she told me on phone. I clearly sense the panic in her voice.

"Where is keerti?" I asked her while looking at my car keys in my table drawer.

"I don't know..she told me she will come in fifteen minutes but it's already more than hour now when she went somewhere after dropping me here." she said in a trembling voice and I know she is near to cry.

"Don't worry baby. I am on my way." I said while taking a long strides towards the elevator.

"Siddharth I...Aaahhhhh..." I heard her scream and then phone line went dead. I tried it again but it was switched off.

I tracked Preeti's  phone Gps last location and followed it. Two black SUV cars followed me. Must be Nick tell Andrew to follow me.

Her phone switched off near the national  highway half an hour away from the orphanage home. I called mom and she told me that she is with Nick's  mom. Keerti still doesn't pick her call.

"Where is Keerti?" I asked her personal body guard who watched her without coming in her view.

Keerti hates to be with bodyguards with her so I secretly arranged her security without her knowledge. After that incident I never allowed any of my family member go out without security and I arranged personal driver for Preeti so she can go anywhere whenever she want.

"Sir we can't track keerti mam. Keerti mam tricked us." Her bodyguard said.

She did that before but I didn't said her anything because of my brotherly love. But I will not spare her today. She left Preeti on road. How could she do that and why she took the long route for home?

"Track her phone's GPS and update me when you will find her." I said angrily.

Damn keerti...where are you.

I smacked my right hand agrily on steering wheel. My heart beat is beating faster and unknown fear crawled inside me
What if preeti was hurt.

I was praying silently that she is fine. Nothing happened to her.

Ring...Ring

Suddenly my phone started ringing. It was from an unknown number so I ignore it.

Ring...Ring

Ring...Ring

My phone started ringing again from the same number so I picked it up this time.

"Hello.." I said.

"Siddharth..."

I immediately pulled the break when I heard her voice and take a relief breath.

"Preeti.. Are you fine ? Where are you and whose number is this?" I asked her so many questions in one breath.

"I am fine. I am at hospital." She said.

"You said you are at hospital and you are fine." I asked.

"I will tell you later. Will you Please come to pick me here." she sounds batter than before.

"Okey.."

After taking the address from her I drive towards the hospital.

"Preeti Siddharth Kapoor...?" I enquired about Preeti at reception and she tell me the room number.

...

"Preeti.." I opened  the door of doctors  cabin and her face spun to me.

She was sitting on the chair. A nurse wrapping a bandage around her forearm. She has a small white tape on the right side of her forehead. She stood up and gave a small smile.

"Who did this to you?" I walked to her and cupped her face while looking at her injury on forehead.

"Some thief stole my purse and pushed me on the road and head a small cut on my forehead and left arm. They also took my phone." She said while putting her hand on mine on her cheek.

"How are you now?" I asked while caressing her right cheek with my thumb lovingly.

"You must be the husband of this beautiful lady." Suddenly a door open of the doctor's cabin and doctor walked inside.

"Your wife is perfectly fine and her x-ray report is also fine." He continue.

He looked flirty one. I swear I will break his teeth to flirt with my wife if Preeti is not wounded.

"Dr. Richard. " He said while forwarding his hand for handshake.

"Siddharth Kapoor.." I said while shaking my hand with him.

"Of course..who doesn't know you. You are the CEO of Kapoor Groups. " He said with fan like grin.

"Can I take my wife to home." I asked him politely because I can't ignore this man treated my wounded wife.

"Yes, ofcourse.." He said with a smile.

"Keerti..Keerti.." Siddharth roared in his scariest voice when he called keerti in anger.

"Siddharth..Please stop. It wasn't her fault." I said while holding his elbow try to stop him.

As soon as we reached home Siddharth walked inside the living hall he called for keerti. Raged fill in his eyes and he looked furious. I was try to stop him but he is not listening to me.

"Sid..why are you screaming." Mom said while coming out from the kitchen.

"Oh! my god what happened to her?" Mom walked to me as soon as her eyes fell on me.

"Mom..Where is keerti?" Siddharth  asked mom.

"She is in her room. But what happened." Mom asked him worriedly.

"Siddharth Please leave it." I tried again but he shushed me with his glare.

"Keerti.."

"What happened bhayi? Why are you screaming?" Keerti said while climbing down from the stairs.

"Where were you?" Siddharth roared in anger.

"At office? But what happened?" She said confusingly.

"Don't you remember? You left Preeti on road." He said while giving her a death glare.

"Siddharth stop Please.." I said try to make him understand.

"Preeti..don't come between us now?" He said in a warning tone while looking at me and then keerti for her answer.

"Bhayi I said I will pick her after fifteen minutes." She said.

"Fifteen minutes..? You stood her there for more than hour." Siddharth said while fisting his both hands and clenched his jaw.

He was trying hard to control his anger. Tears welled up in her eyes and she looked at me angrily with her teary eyes.

"Keerti you go to your room. Siddharth you come with me." I said while dragging Siddharth to our room by his elbow but he didn't budge.

"No, first tell me where were you?" Siddharth  said while jerking my hand away.

"I went to meet my friend. So what if I left her on road. She is not a baby. She could have hire cab and come home. " She spat angrily and her tears are streaming out from her eyes.

"Cab? Are you for real? She is new in this country and that place is far from the city. It will took another hour to reach the cab to her if traffic was clear and why the fuck you took the long route?"

I flinched when Siddharth threw the flower vase angrily.

"Siddharth..Don't talk to your sister like that. I won't forgive if you shout on her next time." Mom said holding keerti firmly by her shoulders.

I immediately walked to Siddharth side and grab his elbow.

"Mom Please take keerti to her room." I said to mom while dragging Siddharth towards the stairs and this time he let me drag him.

When we pass through keerti and mom my eyes met her and I looked at sympathetically and worriedly but she was looking at me with hatred with her red teary furious eyes.

As soon as we reached our room Siddharth threw the pillow on wall aggressively and wiped his palm on his face.

"Siddharth..Never talk to keerti like that. She is your little sister and she was right I acted like a dumb." I said while facing him.

"Don't you dare to take her side. You also know she did wrong and have you look yourself in mirror. You have bandage on your head and arm. What if something bad happened you?"  Siddharth  said while glaring at me.

I cupped his cheek lovingly and make him look into my eyes.

"Nothing happened to me. I am standing in front of you fit and fine. Look I am fine." I said firmly while caressing his cheeks lovingly.

His eyes turned softer and he pulled me in a tight hug. I hugged him back and he snuggled his face in the crook of my neck. I tilted my head aside to give him more space and he nuzzled more to my  neck. He took a deep breath and inhaled my scent. After sometime he breathed calmly and his body relax under my touch.
