Saffron City

The gang were walking to a forest to Saffron City

"Hey Brock, tell me about Sabrina the Gym Leader" Ash said

"I don't know much about her, but I've heard rumors" Brock said

"Rumors?" Ash said

"The rumors say that after a couple of trainers challenge her gym, they come out looking like they saw a ghost" Brock explained

"You mean they act like they've been terrorized?" Serena asked

"Yes, none of those trainers ever compete in the Saffron Gym again." Brock said "Sabrina, the Saffron Gym Leader, uses Psychic Type Pokémon. You can defeat her by using Bug, Ghost, & Dark Type Pokémon"

"The only Bug Types I have are Butterfree & Beedrill. Beedril is part Poison Type & Psychic Type will be super effective against him." Ash pointed ou

Suddenly they heard a giggle. When they looked they saw a little girl with a white dress & a white hat

"Hello there, are you lost?" The little girl said

"Pretty Much. Do you know where Saffron City is?" Ash asked

"Sure, come this way" the little girl said as she ran away

They followed the path where the girl ran away to til they were at the edge of a cliff & saw Saffron City. When they got to the Gym, they looked through a door & inside was filled with people, some of them were bending spoons by staring at them & some of them were trying to guess what shape was on the card without looking.

"Can I help you?" A man in a lab coat said walking up to the gang

"Yes, I came here to challenge Sabrina" Ash said

"So you're the new challenger?" The man said

"Excuse me, sir. What were those people doing in that room" Serena asked

"They're learning how to use their Psychic powers" The man answered

"So you guys are psychics?" Ash said

"Yes, since you're here to challenge Sabrina, the question is, can you defeat her?" The man asked

"Yes" Ash said with determination

"Very well" the man said

The man took the gang to the battlefield

"Sabrina, this boy wishes to challenge you" The man said

The curtains opened & revealed a woman with long black hair, pink eyes, a reddish pink crop top, white pants, reddish pink flats, & black & green braces on her wrists (based on the outfit from HeartGold & SoulSilver). The gang also saw the little girl they met in the forest.

"Preston, who are these strangers?" Sabrina asked

"I'm Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town, & I'm here to challenge you to a Gym Battle" Ash said

"I accept your challenge, but if you lose you have to be my friends & let me play with you" the little girl said

"Alright" Ash accepted

"Preston" Sabrina said

"Yes, Sabrina" Preston said

"Please judge our battle" Sabrina commanded

"Yes ma'am" Preston nodded

Ash & Sabrina went into battle position

"The battle between Sabrina, the Saffron Gym Leader & Ash the challenger will begin. This will be a two on two battle & it will be over when either side is unable to continue & only the challenger can substitute Pokémon." Preston announced

"Come on out, Drowzee" Sabrina said as he sent out a yellow & brown tapir-like Pokémon

"Drowzee" The. Pokémon said as Ash pulled out his Rotom Phone

Drowzee, the Hypnosis Pokémon, A Psychic Type, Drowzee feed on dreams & has a particular taste for the ones that show the dreamer having a lot of fun. It sometimes shows off its favorite dreams to friends.

"Meowth, I choose you" Ash said as Meowth entered the battlefield

"So, you're using a Normal Type? How amusing" Sabrina said

"Don't underestimate my Pokémon, Meowth is made of more than you think." Ash warned

Then a man appeared in the room & sat next to Brock & Serena

"Oh, hello sir." Serena greeted "Are you here to challenge Sabrina as well?"

"Oh no, I'm just here to watch" the man said

"Battle begin!" Preston said

ASH VS SABRINA

"Meowth, use Fake Out" Ash said. Meowth clapped his hands together sending a shockwave which caused Drowzee to flinch

"Now, use Shadow Ball"

Meowth fired a black & purple ball of shadow energy from his hands & hit Drowzee

"Meowth knows a Ghost Type Move?" The man said surprisingly

"Of Course he does, Normal Type Pokémon can learn different type moves other than Normal Type Moves" Brock explained

"Use Wake-Up Slap" Sabrina said. Drowzee's hands glow red & slapped Meowth a few times with them

"Use Hone Claws" Ash said. Meowth's claws extend & glowed white causing his attack & accuracy power to rise

"Use Psyshock." Sabrina said. Drowzee fired a stream of purple energy from its hands

"Dodge it." Ash said as Meowth dodged the attack

"Use Focus Punch" Sabrina said. Drowzee's fist glowed orange & charged at Meowth

"Use Sucker Punch" Ash said. Meowth ran around Drowzee at high speed, then his paw glowed purple & punched Drowzee which caused it to faint.

"What?" Sabrina said in shock

"Hm, Drowzee is unable to battle, Meowth wins" Preston declared

"Alright, way to go Meowth" Ash praised

"Hm" Meowth nodded proudly

"Ash got the first win." Serena smiled happily

"Sucker Punch is a Dark Type move & it's a strong move. It can only work if the opponent is about to use a physical or special attack" Brock said "Thanks to Hone Claws, it gave the attack a boost."

"Eevee!" Eevee cheered

"But...how could I..." Sabrina said still in shock

"That's not fair! You cheated!" The little girl cried

"I didn't cheat, you underestimated my Pokémon. That kind of arrogance caused you to lose." Ash corrected

"Looks like Ash is teaching Sabrina a thing or two." Serena said

"Hm Impressive" the Man said as he thought "I hope Ash wins this battle, cause it looks like Sabrina is coming to her senses."

"It appears I have underestimated you," Sabrina admitted calmly "now it's time for my next Pokémon. Come on out, Abra"

Sabrina sent out a yellow fox-like Pokémon

"Abra" the Pokémon said as Ash pulled out his Rotom Phone

Abra, The Psi Pokémon, A Psychic Type, Even while sleeping, which is most of the time, it can escape a foe by teleporting away. Sometimes it wakes to find itself in an unfamiliar location & gets scared.

Then suddenly Abra glowed bluish white, it grew bigger, & a spoon formed in its hand.

"Kadabra" the Pokémon said as Ash scanned it with his Rotom Phone

Kadabra, the Psi Pokémon, A Psychic Type, & the evolved form of Abra. When Kadabra is around, its strong psychic powers can sometimes interfere with electronics like computer monitors or televisions. Strange, creepy shadows can be seen on the screen when this happens.

"Meowth return" Ash said as Meowth went back to Ash's side "Butterfree, I choose you!"

Ashe sent out his Butterfree

"Free Free" Butterfree said

"I can't wait to see Butterfree in action" Serena said with excitement

"Butterfree might be able to wrap this up, since he's holding the Silver Powder" Brock said

"Butterfree, Use Signal Beam" Ash said. Butterfree fired a streaky pink beam with multiple blues shape in it from his antennas & hit Kadabra

"Use Psybeam." Sabrina said. Kadabra fired a streaky blue beam with pink circles in it from its spoon & hit Butterfree

"Use Aerial Ace." Ash said. Butterfree became surrounded by light blue streaks & charged at Kadabra with great speed

"Use Confusion" Sabrina said. Kadabra's eyes glowed violet, telekinetically stops Butterfree & holds him up in the air.

"Use Bug Buzz" Ash said.

"Freeeeeee" Butterfree said as he released red sound waves from his body which caused Kadabra to let go of him.

"Recover." Sabrina said. Kadabra glowed yellow & healed some of the damage it received.

"This is bad, Recover has the power to heal the Pokémon little bit" the man said

"Butterfree, Use Quiver Dance" Ash said. Butterfree glowed white & danced around Kadabra leaving behind afterimages of himself.

"Quiver Dance has the ability to raise the Pokémon's Speed, Special Attack, & Special Defence power." Brock pointed out "Butterfree will be able to finish this quick before Kadabra can use Recover again"

"Double Team." Sabrina said. Kadabra Glows white & creates multiple copies of itself.

"Use Swift." Ash said. Butterfree wings glowed yellow, fired multiple yellow stars from them & hit the copies & the real Kadabra.

"Now, use Silver Wind"

Butterfree's wings glow white, released a silvery wind from them & hit Kadabra causing it to faint. Sabrina gasped in shock

"Kadabra is unable to battle, Butterfree wins. So the victory goes to Ash the challenger." Preston declared

"Great Job, Butterfree" Ash praised giving Butterfree a thumbs up

"Free Free" Butterfree said happily

"I...lost?" Sabrina said in shock

"You big meanie! I don't wanna be your friend anymore! I hate you!" The little girl cried out as she disappeared

"Are you alright, Kadabra?" Sabrina asked

"Dabra" Kadabra nodded

"You did well, my friend. Take a good long rest" Sabrina said as she returned Kadabra

"Sabrina?" The man said walking up to her

"Daddy, I..." Sabrina said while shaking

"Hm? Is there something wrong?" her father asked

"I...I...I'm sorry!" She cried as she hugged him

"It's alright, kiddo. It's all over now" Her father said as he hugged her back

"Sabrina!" A woman exclaimed unning towards Sabrina

"Mom!" Sabrina exclaimed as she hugged her mother "I'm sorry, Mom. I'm sorry for everything."

"It's okay, honey." Her mother said as she hugged her back

"Are those...her parents?" Ash asked

"They are, A long time ago, Sabrina became completely obsessed with her psychic training. She didn't want to make friends. All she wanted was to be left alone to develop her powers. Her parents tried to help, but she used her powers to drive them away." Preston explained "The conflict caused her to split into two girls. The strong Pokémon trainer who is always causing trouble & the lonely little girl who desperately wants to make friends. That doll that Sabrina holds represents her true self before her training, before she rejected her own heart. Thanks to you, you set her free by defeating her."

"Ash, that was an exceptional battle you gave me. I've learned that I should never underestimate my challengers. Thank you for that battle & now I present you the Marsh Badge" Sabrina said as she gave him a golden badge with two concentric circles

"I just got the Marsh Badge!" Ash cheered as he held up the Marsh Badge

"Pikachu!/That's right!/Free!" The Pokémon cheered

"Also there's something else" Sabrina said as she gave him a Psychic Type TM & a book "It's a TM04.2 containing the move Calm Mind & the book is a book on how to use psychic powers. When we met, I sensed psychic powers within you"

"Really, does that mean I have psychic powers too?" Ash said in surprise

"Yes & this book will teach you how to use & control your powers. Use it & your powers wisely & don't overdo it." Sabrina said

"Ok Sabrina" Ash said

When the gang exit the Gym

"Hey Ash, wait a minute" Sabrina's Dad said walking up to them

"What's up?" Ash asked

"Before you leave Saffron City, I suggest you go to the Fighting Dojo." Sabrina's dad suggested

"Fighting Dojo?" Ash asked

"It's a dojo where trainers use Fighting Type Pokémon" Sabrina's dad explained

"Where is it?" Ash asked

"Just head west from here & you'll be there in no time. Also, I'd like to give you this for bringing back my daughter" Sabrina's dad said as he gave Ash a Psychic Type TM "It's a TM30 containing the move Teleport"

"Thanks mister" Ash said as he left with Brock & Serena

"Wow Boss, I can't believe you have psychic powers." Meowth said in surprise

"Yeah, that must be one of the powers you've inherited from the Maiden. Now we know why she kept it a secret. Ash, I think it's best if you don't reveal your powers to anyone except the people we trust like Officer Jenny or Nurse Joy." Brock said

"You're right, but if me being a psychic is one of my powers, what's the other one" Ash said in wonder

"Gastly said that we can find out what the Maiden's son's powers were in the Kingdom of Rota, but we can find out about that later." Brock said
