Pokémon League Admission Exams

The gang were having a picnic. Todd had taken several pictures of their Pokémon during his travels with them.

"You guys really have a lot of well-raised Pokémon." Todd complimented

"Thanks." Ash said

"Hey Ash, have you ever thought about taking the Pokémon League Admission Exams?" Todd asked

"Pokémon League Admission Exams?" Ash repeated

"At the Pokémon League Admission Center, they evaluate applicants based on a written & practical skills exam. If you pass the exam, you receive a badge that qualifies you for the Pokémon League." Todd explained

"What do you say, Ash? You wanna give it a try?" Serena said

"Sure." Ash said

When they got to the Pokémon League Admission Center

"Here's your testing number." The instructor said as he gave Ash his testing number

"Alright, lucky number 7." Ash said excitedly

"Also, you'll have to leave your Pokémon here with me." The instructor said "Using your own Pokémon in the exams is not permitted."

"I'll take care of your Pikachu & Meowth while you're taking the exams, Ash." Brock said

"Okay." Ash said as he gave the instructor the rest of his Pokémon & Pikachu & Meowth hopped on Brock's shoulders

"I wish you luck, Mr. Ketchum." The instructor said as he left

"There are sure a lot of people taking the exams." Serena said

"Hey, there's Nurse Joy." Brock said as he saw Nurse Joy

"I wonder what she's doing here?" Todd said as they went up to her

"Hey Nurse Joy, what are you doing here?" Ash asked

"I'm here to take the exams." Joy said "You see, I've always dreamed of becoming a Pokémon Master, so I came here because my job keeps me too busy from traveling. It's perfect for people whose age & health keeps from traveling around or who can never get away from work."

"Attention all participants, the exams are about to begin. Please follow me." The instructor announced

"Good luck, Ash." Serena said

"You'll do great." Brock said

"Thanks guys." Ash said as left with the other participants

The first test was a true or false test that measures their knowledge of Pokémon, the second test was to measure their ability to recognize Pokémon by identifying the silhouette or any part of its body. After they were done, the results on the scoreboard were shown & Ash got the highest score. The final test was a Pokémon battle test, they had to choose 3 Poké Balls, regardless of what Pokémon is sent out to battle the instructor. When it was Ash's turn

"Are you ready, Ash?" The instructor asked

"Yes sir." Ash nodded

"Go Poké Ball!" The instructor said as he sent out a Flareon

"Flare." Flareon said

"I choose you!" Ash said as he sent out a Weezing

"Weezing." Weezing said

"Ash got a Weezing." Serena said

"Let's see how he battles with that." Todd said as he took a picture

"Flareon, use Flamethrower." The instructor said. Flareon shot fire from its mouth

"Weezing, use Smog." Ash said. Weezing released thick gray smoke from its mouth which collided with Flamethrower, caused an explosion, & sent Flareon back.

"Use Scary Face." The instructor said as Flareon's eyes glowed red to prepare Scary Face

"Use Smokescreen." Ash said. Weezing released thick black smoke from its body which covered the battlefield & caused Flareon to look around

"Now, use Sludge Bomb."

Weezing fired multiple brown blobs of explosive sludge from its mouth & hit Flareon which caused it to faint

"Alright, good job, Weezing." Ash said as he pet Weezing

"Impressive." The instructor said as he returned Flareon. "Now Round 2."

The instructor sent out a Jolteon.

"Jolteon." Jolteon barked

"Weezing return." Ash said as he returned Weezing "I choose you!"

Ash sent out an Arbok

"Cha!" Arbok hissed

"It's an Arbok." Brock said

"Jolteon, Agility." The instructor said as Jolteon ran towards Arbok at fast speed

"Arbok, use Screech." Ash said.

"CHAAAAAAAAAA!" Arbok screeched as it released red soundwaves from its mouth which caused Jolteon to stop & wince

"Now, use Dig."

Arbok dug underground, came out & tackled Jolteon which caused it to faint.

"Way to go, Arbok." Ash praised as he gently scratched under Arbok's chin

"Cha." Arbok sighed in contentment

"Jolteon, return." The instructor said as he returned Jolteon "Final Round!"

The instructor sent out a Vaporeon

"Vapor." Vaporeon said

"Arbok, return." Ash said as he returned Arbok "I choose you!"

Ash sent out a Victreebel

"Bel!" Victreebel said

"Now, it's a Victreebel." Brock said

"Wow, Boss got the Pokémon Jessie & James have." Meowth said

"Vaporeon use Aurora Beam." Vaporeon fired a multicolored beam from its mouth & hit Victreebel

"Now, use Haze."

Vaporeon released a thick black smoke from its mouth which covered the battlefield & confused Victreebel

"Hang in there Victreebel, Use Sleep Powder." Ash said. Victreebel released a blanket of light green spores from its mouth which covered the battlefield. When the Haze cleared, Vaporeon was asleep.

"Ash must've picked up that technique from Cassandra." Serena said

"Alright, finish this with Leaf storm." Ash said.

"Bel!" Victreebel screeched as a barrage of green leaves started spinning around, then it fired them & hit Vaporeon which caused it to faint

"We did it, Victreebel." Ash cheered

"Bel!" Victreebel cheered

"You did it, Ash. You won." Serena said

"Yeah, that was an exceptional match." Todd complimented

At the closing ceremony

"Congratulations Ash Ketchum, you passed the exams & I now present you the Pokémon League Admissions Badge." The instructor said as he gave Ash a red heptagon-shaped badge with the letter P in the center

"Thanks mister, but I'm actually traveling for badges. I only took the exams for fun." Ash said

"I understand, but I insist that you keep it as a memoir, you earned it." The instructor insisted

"Thanks" Ash said

When the gang left

"Hey guys, I think it's about time we part ways." Todd said

"Are you sure about that, Todd?" Serena asked

"Yeah, there are more Pokémon out there I want to take pictures of. But don't worry, I'll see you guys around." Todd said

"It was great traveling with you, Todd." Ash said

"You too." Todd said

The gang bid farewell to Todd & pressed on to Cinnabar Island as the journey continues.
