Ash & Serena arrived at Pewter City

"Here we are, Pewter City" Serena said happily

"Awesome, this is where I get my first Gym Badge" Ash said feeling determined

They went to the Pokémon Center to restore their Pokémon

"Hey Nurse Joy, could you please restore our Pokémon" Ash asked

"Of course, you two" said Nurse Joy

"& I would like to register for the Kanto League" Ash added

"Sure, just give me your Rotom Phone & I'll have you registered" Joy said.

Ash gave Joy is Rotom Phone & she registered him.

"Alright, Ash Ketchum. You are now registered for the Kanto League. Here's your Rotom Phone back & your badge case." Joy said as she gave him a black badge case with a Poké Ball symbol in the middle.

After Joy left to restore their Pokémon, Ash & Serena went to call Professor Oak.

"Hello, Ash, Serena" Oak greeted

"Hi Professor" They both said

"Seeing you two together brings me great joy." Oak said smile before making a straight face "& Ash, your mother told me the news."

"You have?" Ash asked

"Yes, she also told me that she told your father about it." Oaksaid

"What was his reaction?" Ash said

"He was shocked" Oak said "but he was mostly upset that Team Rocket was revived"

"I see" Ash said "We came to call you about something we discovered in Viridian Forest"

"What is it?" Oak asked

"After we caught our Nidorans, my Kakuna evolved into Beedrill. After he evolved, he sensed a strange kind of energy calling out to him & took off. We followed him & ended up in this hidden valley filled with different kinds of Bug Type Pokémon. When we entered a cave, we were challenged by a leader of a Beedrill swarm. After I defeated the leader. They let us pass & that's where we found this." Ash said as he pulled out the stone

Oak gasped "Do you know what that is?"

Ash & Serena shook their heads

"That's a Mega Stone" Oak explained "Certain Pokémon like Beedrill have a special evolution called Mega Evolution. Mega Evolution is not a permanent change, the Pokémon can revert to their original stage. Once a Pokémon Mega Evolves, its power & stat stages will increase. In order for a Pokémon to Mega Evolve, it has to have a Mega Stone & have a strong bond with its Trainer. The Mega Stone you have now is a Beedrillite. If you want to Mega Evolve your Beedrill, you will also need a Key Stone. You can get one from Mr. Fuji at the Pokémon House in Lavender Town. You can find Mega Stones in different locations & secret areas. The Mega Stones from those secret areas are guarded by Pokémon that can Mega Evolve from the respective stones that they're guarding or as we like to call them Guardian Pokémon. Their jobs are to test trainers' strength & bonds with their Pokémon, if you pass their test, the Mega Stone is yours & sometimes they reward you with their kind or themselves to be your Pokémon. But sometimes they just give you the Mega Stone as a way of showing gratitude.

"That sounds amazing" Ash said

"It is," Oak agreed "Keep looking for more Mega Stones for your Pokémon to Mega Evolve"

"I will, Thank you Professor" Ash said

"You're welcome, call me again soon" Oak said as he hung up

"Ash, Serena, your Pokémon are completely fighting fit" Joy said

"Thanks" they both said

"Ash, did you say you have a Beedrillite?" Joy said

Ash nodded

"Do you want me to work on it?" Joy asked

"What do you mean?" Ash asked

"Well, we can set the Mega Stone in a sort of equipment for your Pokémon to hold" Joy explained

"You mean Pokémon can wear Mega Stones?" Ash asked

"Of Course, we also have a catalogue." Joy said as she pulled out a catalogue. "you can choose whatever equipment or accessories for your Pokémon to wear the Mega Stone with. For Beedrill, they can wear a bandanna for its neck, a chest plate, or a band for its abdomen."

Ash had Beedrill decide which one he wanted to wear & he chose the chest plate. After that, Ash headed straight to Pewter Gym

"What, against Brock" a Boy said

"You wanna battle against Brock now?" A Girl said "You're a million light years away from being ready for that."

"But he is ready," Serena said defensively "He's actually been training for this"

"Hm, certainly doesn't look like it" the girl scoffed

"Listen, how long have you been with your Pokémon?" The Boy said

"Does it matter?" Ash asked

"What do you mean "does it matter?"" The Boy said

"It doesn't matter how long I've been with my Pokémon" Ash said "My Pokémon & I have been training for this moment & we came prepared for it. Besides any trainer has the right to challenge this Gym"

"Yeah, & you have no right to to criticize a trainer who wants to challenge this Gym" Serena said

"What is going on here" a voice said

The voice belonged to a woman with mahogany hair, brown eyes, a pink tank top & a white long skirt & a man with tan skin, brown hair, a yellow shirt, green pants.

"Liam, Amara, what do you two think you're doing" the man said with a scowl

"N-Nothing, Mr & Mrs. Slate, we were just—Ow!" Amara stuttered as Mrs. Slate pulled her ear.

"Don't try to give us any excuses, young lady" Mrs. Slate scowled "You two were criticizing this young man, just because he wanted to challenge my son, were you?"

"No, we just—Ow!" Liam said as Mrs. Slate pulled his ear

"Don't lie to us, Liam" Mrs. Slate scolded "My son told you countless times not to criticize the challengers & here you are doing it anyway."

"We're sorry, Mrs. Slate!" Amara cried

"Don't tell me you're sorry, tell this young man you're sorry" Mrs. Slate demanded as she let go of their ears.

"& next time, if someone wishes to challenge Brock, Leave them alone & do NOT criticize them. Do you two understand?" Flint scolded

"Yes sir..." Liam & Amara both said

Liam & Amara bowed & apologized to Ash

"I'm very sorry about that." Mr. Slate apologized

"It's alright, no harm done." Ash assured

"Are you here to challenge Brock?" Mrs. Slate asked

"Yes Ma'am, is he your son?" Ash asked.

"He is, I'm Lola Slate & this is my husband Flint Slate" She introduced herself "Who are you?"

"I'm Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town" Ash said

"Oh so you're Giovanni & Delia's youngest boy" Flint said.

"Oh my gosh, look at you," Lola said as she held Ash's face "you look so much like your Mom. The Applin doesn't fall far from the tree. I remember holding you when you were a newborn at the hospital on the day you were born. I'm just trembling with nostalgia."

Truth is Lola & Flint are actually good friends with Giovanni & Delia. Lola & Flint led Ash & Serena inside the Gym where their 9 other children were.

"Wow, Mr & Mrs. Slate, you certainly have a big family" Serena said feeling amazed

"Yep, those are our sons Forrest, Salvadore, Tommy, Timmy, & Billy & our daughters Yolanda, Cindy, Suzie, & Tilly" Flint said

"Forrest, where's Brock?" Lola asked

"I'm right here" a voice called out

The voice belonged to a young man with tan skin, brown spiky hair, an orange shirt with a black V-neck pattern, dark green long sleeve pants, & orange & black shoes.(based on the HeartGold & Soulsilver outfit)

"Are you Brock?" Ash asked

"I am" Brock said "& I see you've met my family"

"We have & you look just like your Dad" Serena said

"Yeah, that must be why he's so good looking" Flint said as he high fived Forrest

"Anyway, are you my challengers?" Brock asked

"I am, My name is Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town" Ash introduced himself "& these are my partners Pikachu & Meowth"

"Pikachu" Pikachu greeted

"Hi Mr. Gym Leader" Meowth greeted

"A talking Meowth, I never seen one of those before" Brock said surprisingly

"I'm Serena Yvonne, from Vaniville Town" Serena introduced herself "I'm from the Kalos Region & this is my partner Eevee. I'm just here for support"

"Eevee" Eevee greeted

"Well, it's nice to meet you two" Brock said "Shall we get started on the Gym Battle?"

Ash & Brock went into battle position on the battlefield while Serena, Liam, Amara, Lola & her kids sat on the seats. Flint was acting as the referee

"The Battle between Ash the challenger & Brock the Pewter Gym Leader will begin. This will be a two on two battle & it will be over when either side's Pokémon are unable to continue. Only the challenger can substitute Pokémon" Flint announced

"Just to let you know Ash, My specialty is battling with Rock Types. Go Geodude" Brock said as he sent out a rock-like Pokémon with arms

"Dude!" Geodude yelled as Ash pulled out his Rotom Phone

Geodude, the Rock Pokémon, A Rock & Ground Type, It might be tempting to gather up Geodude found along the road & throw them around like balls, but that's a bad idea—they're very heavy, & their surface is extremely hard.

"Meowth, I choose you" Ash said as Meowth stepped into the battlefield

"Mommy, why is Ash using a Normal Type?" Suzie asked

"I'm don't know, sweetie" Lola responded "but I'm sure he has a strategy up his sleeve"

"Battle Begin!" Flint said

ASH VS BROCK

"Alright Meowth, let's start things off with Fake Out" Ash said. Meowth clapped his hands together sending a shockwave which caused Geodude to flinch

"Now, use Bite"

Meowth's teeth glow white, creates white teeth-like aura & bit down Geodude

"Geodude, use Rock Throw" Brock said. Geodude hands glowed white & shoot rocks from them.

"Intercept it with Pay Day" Ash said. Meowth's charm glowed yellow, multiple coins appeared, & launched them which collided with Rock Throw

"Use Rollout" Brock said. Geodude glowed light brown & repeatedly rolled into Meowth.

"Use Screech" Ash said

"AAAAAAAGH!" Meowth screeched as white soundwaves came from his mouth which caused Geodude to stop & cover its ears

"Now use Iron Tail"

Meowth's tail glowed white & hit Geodude causing it to faint.

"Geodude is unable to battle, Meowth wins." Flint said

"Alright, Meowth" Ash cheered as Meowth high fived him & Pikachu

"Pika" Pikachu cheered

"Meowth, You were great" Serena cheered

"Eevee" Eevee cheered

"Nice Job," Brock complimented as he returned Geodude "but let's see how you deal with this"

Brock sent out a large snake-like Pokémon made out of stones

"Grooooar" the Pokémon roared as Ash pulled out his Rotom Phone

Onix, The Rock Snake Pokémon, a Rock & Ground Type, Thanks to its internal magnet, Onix never loses its way while boring through the ground. Its body grows smoother with age as the rough edges wear away.

"Are you still able to battle?" Ash asked Meowth

"Yeah Boss" Meowth nodded

"Then use Iron Tail" Ash said as Meowth charged at Onix with Iron Tail

"Use Dragon Tail," Brock said. Onix's tail became covered in a green scale-patterned aura & hit Meowth. Meowth got sent flying into a wall & fainted.

"Meowth is unable to battle, Onix wins" Flint announced

"Meowth, are you alright?" Ash asked worriedly as he picked him up

"I'm fine, I'm sorry I lost." Meowth apologized

"It's okay, you deserve a good rest" Ash said as he placed him down next to Pikachu "Ok, Pikachu it's your turn"

Pikachu stepped into the battlefield

"You can do it, Pikachu" Serena cheered

"Eevee" Eevee cheered

"Confuse Onix with Quick Attack" Ash said. Pikachu glowed light blue & ran towards Onix at quick speed

"Use Screech" Brock said

"GROOOOOAR!" Onix screeched as red soundwaves came from its mouth which caused Pikachu to stop & covered his ears.

"Now Use Rock Throw"

Onix mouth glowed white & fired rocks & hit Pikachu.

"Use Double Kick" Ash said as Pikachu kicked Onix twice

"Use Bind" Brock said as Onix grabbed Pikachu with its tail & binded him

"Pika!" Pikachu yelled out in pain

"Hang in there, Use Growl" Ash said

"CHUUUU!" Pikachu said as he let out a huge growl that distorts the air which caused Onix to let go of him.

"Now, use Iron Tail," Ash said. Pikachu's tail glowed white & hit Onix causing it to faint.

"Onix is unable to battle, Pikachu wins. So the victory goes to Ash the challenger." Flint announced

"Way to go, Pikachu" Ash cheered as he hugged him

"You did great, my Pika Pal" Meowth complimented

"Ash, congratulation, you won. You, Pikachu, & Meowth were awesome" Serena said happily

"Thanks Serena" Ash said

"She's right, y'know" Brock agreed as he walked towards them "I was impressed with how you battled my Rock Types"

"Thanks Brock," Ash said "It's like I said before, my Pokémon & I trained for this moment"

"You've trained well" Brock said as he gave him a dark grey octagon-shaped Badge "This is for you, It's proof that you beat me. The Boulder Badge."

"I just got the Boulder Badge!" Ash exclaimed as he held up the Boulder Badge

"Pikachu!/That's right!" Pikachu & Meowth cheered

After receiving the Boulder Badge, Ash had Pikachu & Meowth restored & got the chest plate with the Beedrillite in it for Beedrill. When he & Serena was just about to leave Pewter City.

"Hey Ash" Brock said coming up to them

"Hey Brock, What is it?" Ash asked

"I forgot to give you this" Brock said as he gave him a brown disc-like object "It's a Technical Machine or TM for short. After Pokémon Trainers win Gym Battles & receive Gym Badges, they also receive TMs."

"What does it do?" Ash asked curiously

"Each TM contains a different Pokémon Move, when you use a TM on your Pokémon, they can learn the move that the TM contains. It's a quicker way for Pokémon Trainers to have their Pokémon learn new moves. The TM I gave you is a TM04.1 containing the move Rollout. My family wanted to give you this," Brock explained as he gave him a light gray TM "that one is a TM34 containing the move Bide. The good thing about TMs is that they never wear off, you can use them numerous times. You can use the Pokédex on your Rotom Phone to scan the TM & figure out what Pokémon is able to learn the move that the TM contains."

Ash put the TMs in a huge TM Case he got from his parents.

"You know Ash & Serena, I get more pleasure from raising Pokémon than from making them battle." Brock said "I don't care about being a great Gym Leader, I want to be the world's best Pokémon Doctor, I want to travel & learn everything about Pokémon. But I can't."

"Brock, you go follow your own dreams." A voice said

Brock turned & saw his parent

"Mom, Dad" Brock said

"Honey, you go ahead & fulfill your dreams." Lola said

"But what about the Gym" Brock asked

"Don't worry, son. I will teach your brother Forrest the basics in being a Gym Leader. In the meantime, your mother & I will take care of everything." Flint insisted

"Ok" Brock said

Ash & Serena looked at each other before smiling & nodding

"Hey Brock, how would you like to travel with us?" Ash asked

"Huh?" Brock said before turning to them "You sure about that? I mean, I was about to ask you that, but are you sure you don't mind?"

"We don't mind at all, Brock." Serena insisted

Brock stared before smiling & accepted

So with a new traveling companion, a badge, & two TMs, the journey continues.

Hey Everyone, yes, the strange stone is a Mega Stone aka Beedrillite & Ash will Mega Evolve his Pokémon in this story. I don't understand why Ash didn't get TMs in the anime like in the games, I mean that would help him a lot. Also, doesn't anybody just hate it when you only had to use each TM once in Pokémon games like HeartGold, Emerald, & Platinum? So I decided that each TM can be used multiple times in this story. Brock won't be the girl-crazy Type like in the anime, even though it's funny, it's kind of embarrassing. I hope you like this chapter & stay tuned for another one, Morpho Out!
