Indigo League Part 6: The Battle Between Rivals

Ash was waiting for his next match on the Grass Field until

"Hey Ash." Serena called out as she came up to him

"Hm? What is it, Serena?" Ash said

"It's Gary & Leaf, they're gonna be facing each other in the Rock Field." Serena informed

"Really!?" Ash exclaimed surprisingly

"Yes." Serena nodded

"When's their battle?" Ash asked

"It starts in a few minutes." Serena said

"Then let's go." Ash said as he took off with Serena

"Eevee." Eevee said to Pikachu

"Pikachu" Pikachu nodded as he ran off with Eevee

"Hey, don't leave me here by myself!" Meowth called out as he ran after them "Wait for me!"

At the Rock Field

Ash & Serena have arrived & saw Daisy along with Blue & Green

"Blue, Green." Ash said

"Hey squirt, guess you heard that Leaf & Gary are gonna be battling each other, huh?" Blue assumed

"Yeah, that's right." Ash said as he & Serena sat next to them

"Ladies & Gentlemen, the match between Gary Oak & Leaf is about to begin, two trainers who were born & raised in Pallet Town & only one of them will smash their way through the Rock Field." The announcer said

"Go Electabuzz!" Gary said as he sent out his Electabuzz

"Electabuzz!" Electabuzz said

"Go Jynx!" Leaf said as he sent out her Jynx

"Jynx." Jynx said

"Battle begin!" The referee said

GARY VS LEAF

"Jynx, use Trick Room." Leaf said

"Jynx!" Jynx said s she glowed light blue & summoned a large light blue rectangle with light blue and white transparent walls and ceiling around the battlefield

"Trick Room?" Serena said

"Trick Room is a Psychic Type move that slows down the opponent & raises the Pokémon's speed." Ash said

"Guess that's gonna give Gary trouble." Meowth said

"Eevee." Eevee agreed

"Electabuzz, use Thunder Punch." Gary said

Electabuzz's fist became surrounded by yellow electricity & charged at Jynx

"Jynx, use Ice Punch." Leaf said. Jynx's fist became surrounded by icy blue aura & punched Electabuzz at fast speed.

"Use Charge Beam." Gary said. Electabuzz fired a beam of yellow electricity from its antennas & hit Jynx

"Use Avalanche." Leaf said

"Jynx!" Jynx said as she glowed light blue & summoned a dark cloud above Electabuzz which rained down chunks of ice & hit it.

"Electabuzz, Thunderbolt." Gary said

"Electa BUZZ!" Electabuzz yelled as it fired a bolt of yellow electricity & hit Jynx

"Use Ice Beam." Leaf said. Jynx fired light blue beams of ice from her mouth & hit Electabuzz

"Use Fire Punch." Gary said

Electabuzz's fist became engulfed in flames & charged at Jynx

"Use Draining Kiss." Leaf said. Jynx zipped towards Electabuzz & kissed its cheek, then Electabuzz glowed red, and a light yellow orb of energy flies off from it and into Jynx which caused Electabuzz to faint.

"Electabuzz is unable to battle, Jynx wins." The referee declared

"& Jynx has managed to defeat Electabuzz thanks to Trick Room." The announcer said

"Getting kissed by those lips is the last thing I want to happen." Meowth said uncomfortably

"Pika." Pikachu agreed

Just then Trick Room disappeared

"Hm, you got lucky that time, Spring Leaf." Gary said as he returned Electabuzz "Go Arcanine."

Gary sent out his Arcanine

"Arc! Arc!" Arcanine barked

"Jynx use Trick Room again." Leaf said

"Don't let it use that move, Use Crunch." Gary said. Arcanine opens its mouth, creates yellow teeth-like aura & bites down Jynx.

"Jynx." Jynx flinched

"Now, use Fire Blast." Gary said. Arcanine fired a 大-shaped blast of yellow-orange fire from its mouth & hit Jynx which caused her to faint

"Jynx is unable to battle, Arcanine wins." The referee declared

"Return." Leaf said as she returned Jynx "Go Clefable."

Leaf sent out her Clefable

"Clefable." Clefable said

"A Clefable? Ain't Fairy Type moves not very effective against Fire Type?" Meowth said

"Technically Yes, unless Clefable knows some super effective moves, it might have a chance." Green said

"Heh, this'll be easy, Arcanine use Flamethrower." Gary said as Arcanine shot fire from its mouth

"Clefable, use Bounce." Leaf said. Clefable jumped high into the air, avoided the attack, & kicked Arcanine

"Use Iron Tail." Gary said. Arcanine's tail glowed white & hit Clefable

"Use Water Pulse." Leaf said. Clefable fired a blue orb of water from its hands & hit Arcanine

"Use Incinerate." Gary said. Arcanine shot a white centered fireball with black highlights from its mouth.

"Use Protect." Leaf said as Clefable summoned a turquoise force field & protected itself

"Now, Metronome."

Clefable's fingers glowed & started waving them, then the Metronome turned into Stone Edge

"Dodge with Agility." Gary said as Arcanine dodged the attack at fast speed

"Now Flame Wheel."

Arcanine released fire from its mouth while somersaulting at the same time & rolled into Clefable

"Use Water Pulse again." Leaf said. Clefable fired Water Pulse & hit Arcanine

"Use Flare Blitz." Gary said. Arcanine became surrounded by light red flames with orange spiraling streaks & charged at Clefable

"Use Meteor Mash." Leaf said. Clefable becomes surrounded by blue aura & charges at Arcanine at full speed

Both Pokémon clashed into each other causing an explosion. When the smoke cleared, both Pokémon had fainted.

"Arcanine & Clefable are both unable to battle, it's a draw." The referee declared

"Both Pokémon are down & out, which means both Trainers have only one Pokémon left." The announcer said

Gary & Leaf returned their Pokémon.

"I'm quite impressed, Spring Leaf. You're quite the Trainer." Gary complimented "But there can be only one trainer who can win this match. Go Blastoise!"

Gary sent out his Blastoise

"Blast." Blastoise said

"Well, in that case, Go Venusaur!" Leaf said as she sent out her Venusaur

"Saur." Venusaur said

"Let's finish this." Gary said as he raised his fist revealing a ring around his ring finger with a Key Stone in it.

"Blast." Blastoise said as its cannons extended out of its shell, one of them had a band around it with a Blastoisinite in it.

"Two can play at that game." Leaf said as she pulled back her hair revealing an earring with a Key Stone in it.

"Venusaur." Venusaur said as it had a band around its stem with a Venusaurite in it

"Mega Evolve!" Gary & Leaf said as they touched their Key Stones which shined in a white light.

Blastoise & Venusaur glowed bright red-orange & mega evolved into Mega Blastoise & Mega Venusaur.

Mega Blastoise developed two smaller shells over its arms, each with their own water cannon. The two cannons on its back are replaced by a single, central water cannon of greater size. Small ridges had developed over its now-red eyes and extended to its ears. The ears angle slightly backward and there is a small point on its chin.

Mega Venusaur's flower on its back had grown larger and two smaller pink flowers had bloomed, one on its forehead and one on its rear. Additional leaves with woody stems supported by vines had grown around the flower. Mega Venusaur also had developed dark markings on its forehead below the new flower.

"There it is, ladies & gentlemen, the first two Pokémon to perform Mega Evolution in this year's Indigo Plateau Conference." The announcer said

"Saur!/Blast!" The Pokémon roared

"Wow, so that's a Mega Blastoise & Mega Venusaur." Ash said surprisingly

"Look at the size of that cannon & that flower." Meowth said shockingly

"Blastoise, use Ice Beam." Gary said. Mega Blastoise fired light blue beams of ice from its cannons & hit Mega Venusaur

"Venusaur, Petal Blizzard." Leaf said. Mega Venusaur released a blizzard of multiple pink petals from its flower & hit Blastoise

"Use Zen Headbutt." Gary said. Mega Blastoise became surrounded by a light blue force field & heabutted Mega Venusaur.

"Use Power Whip." Leaf said. Mega Venusaur's vine glowed light green & hit Mega Blastoise

"Use Hydro Pump." Gary said. Mega Blastoise fired powerful blasts of water from his cannons

"Use Energy Ball." Leaf said. Mega Venusaur fired an orb of light green energy from its mouth which collided with Hydro Pump

"Use Double-Edge."

Mega Venusaur became surrounded in streaks of white aura & charged at Mega Blastoise

"Use Skull Bash." Gary said. Mega Blastoise became surrounded by silver aura & clashed with Mega Venusaur

"Use Solar Beam." Leaf said. Mega Venusaur's flower glowed faint yellow & fired a yellow beam of energy from it

"Use Dragon Pulse." Gary said. Mega Blastoise fired a multicolored dragon-shaped beam of energy from its cannons which dissipated the Solar Beam, hit Mega Venusaur, & caused it to collapse.

"That was very powerful." Serena said

"Mega Blastoise's Ability is Mega Launcher, it boosts attacks like Dragon Pulse, Dark Pulse, Water Pulse, Aura, Sphere, Terrain Pulse, & Heal Pulse." Blue said

"Come on, Venusaur, get up." Leaf cried as Mega Venusaur slowly got up

"SAAAUUUR!" Mega Venusaur roared as it glowed light green

"Wow, in an unexpected turn of events, Mega Venusaur seems to have learned a new move." The announcer said

Leaf pulled out her Rotom Phone

Your Venusaur has learned Grassy Glide.

"Alright Venusaur, use Grassy Glide." Leaf said. Mega Venusaur glided on the ground leaving a trail of light green leaves & tackled Mega Blastoise which caused it to faint & revert back to it previous form

"Blastoise is unable to battle, Venusaur wins. So, the match goes to Leaf of Pallet Town" The referee declared

"Yay, we did it, Venusaur!" Leaf cheered as she hugged Mega Venusaur

"Venusaur." Venusaur said happily as it reverted back to its previous form

"Blastoise return." Gary said as he returned Blastoise & sighed

"Leaf managed to beat Gary." Serena said

Ash just stared

After the match, Gary was outside

"Hey Gary." Ash said

"Oh hey Ash." Gary said

"Sorry that you lost." Ash said with sympathy

"Eh, forget about it." Gary smiled with a shrug "As much as I hate to admit it, Leaf was sure strong."

"You were strong too." Blue said as he came towards Gary

"Hey bro, did you see the match?" Gary said

"Sure did, you were awesome." Blue complimented

"Really? But I didn't win." Gary said confusingly

"I know that, but winning isn't really that important." Blue said "I remember when Red defeated me when I was the Kanto Champion. At first I thought I was unlucky, but the reason why I lost is because I had forgotten to treat my Pokémon with trust & love."

"Is that right?" Gary said curiously

"Of course, so let me tell you this one thing, little bro." Blue said as he put his hand on Gary's shoulder. "Promise me, you'll never forget or stop treating your Pokémon with love & trust, ok?"

"Right." Gary nodded

"So, what will you do next, Gary?" Ash asked

"I think I'm gonna stay & support you & Leaf." Gary smiled "To be honest, your matches have been getting very entertaining."

"Thanks Gary." Ash smiled back as he shook Gary's hand
