Indigo League Part 3: The Tournament Begins & The Water Field

The alarm clock went off & Ash woke up.

"Time to get up, you guys." Ash said as he got out of bed

"Pika." Pikachu yawned

"What's all the hubbub, boss?" Meowth said as he stretched & got out of bed along with Pikachu

"Today's the day." Ash said

"Wait, you mean it's the day of the tournament?" Meowth said in realization

"Exactly, come on, we need to get ready." Ash said

"Pikachu." Pikachu nodded

"Count me in." Meowth said

After Ash washed up & got dressed, he along with Pikachu & Meowth exited the hotel & saw Serena with Eevee & Togepi.

"Hi Ash, are ready for the Indigo Plateau Conference?" Serena asked

"Sure am." Ash said in determination

"Pika." Pikachu agreed

"That's right." Meowth said

"I'm glad you are." Serena smiled

"Attention all Trainers, please head to Indigo Stadium." A woman on the speaker said

"Well, that's my cue, but I'll see ya later." Ash said as he left

"Good luck, Ash." Serena called out

"Eevee." Eevee said

"Pii Pii!" Togepi cheered

When Ash arrived at the Indigo Stadium with the other Trainers

"Ladies & gentlemen, the opening ceremony of the Indigo Plateau Conference will begin!" The announcer said "Now, please welcome, President Charles Goodshow."

"Welcome, this is a special place where Trainers who love their Pokémon compete." Mr. Goodshow said "For years we have had a Torch Bearer light up the flame for the Indigo Plateau Conference, but this year will be very special."

"MOOOOOOOLT!" A voice screeched

Everyone looked & saw a Moltres flying towards the stadium. The Moltres shot fire from its wings & lit up the flame, then the crowd went wild as Moltres perched up in front of the flame.

"This year, Moltres from the Victory Road will be witnessing the tournament as its flames burn brightly to light up our hearts & spirit." Mr. Goodshow said "Now let's introduce the Gym Leaders of the Kanto Region: Brock, Misty, Lt. Surge, Erika, Sabrina, Koga, Blaine, & Giovanni."

The Gym Leaders appeared on the first balcony while waving at everyone as they took their seats

"Next, we have the Kanto Elite Four: Lorelei, Bruno, Agatha, & Lance." Mr. Goodshow announced

Bruno, Lance, an elderly woman with graying blonde hair wearing a purple long sleeve dress with a white apron, grayish brown shoes, holding a Gengar-like Cane, & a woman with red hair, red eyes, wearing a black sleeveless shirt, a purple pencil skirt, black high heels & a golden bracelet around her right arm appeared second balcony above the Gym Leaders while waving at everyone as they took their seats

"& finally, introducing Pallet Town's pride, Trainer of Trainers, Kanto Region's Champion: Red Ketchum." Mr. Goodshow announced

Red appeared on the third balcony above the Elite Four while waving at everyone as he took his seat

"Now, keep that fire in your heart & spirit alive & let the Indigo Plateau Conference Tournament begin!" Mr. Goodshow said as the crowd cheered

After the ceremony, the Ash & Serena went to the Pokémon Village

"Hello, Welcome to the Pokémon Village" The desk lady said "Is this your first time at the Pokémon League?"

"Yes ma'am." Ash nodded

"Alright, just press this button here." The desk lady said as she pointed at the red button on the desk. "Wherever the light stops is where your first match will be, good luck."

Ash pressed the button & the light stopped on the water symbol

"Looks like we'll be going on the Water Field." Meowth said

"Now, the system will select your opponent." The lady said

The screen showed Ash picture & a picture of a man with long blue-green hair, violet eyes, bandana across his forehead, a yellow tied up scarf around his neck, a white v-neck tank top, & a pink over jacket.

"Your opponent is Mandi, you're in the third match at 1:00." The lady informed

"Got it." Ash said

When Serena & Ash were on their way to a restaurant to have lunch when they ran into Ash's opponent, Mandi.

"So, you must be Ash Ketchum." Mandi said

"& you're Mandi." Ash said

"It's a pleasure to meet you, I've heard about you from Melvin." Mandi said

"You know Melvin?" Ash asked

"Yes, he's my uncle." Mandi said

"Wow, Melvin never mentioned having a nephew." Serena said surprisingly

"It's probably because you never asked." Mandi said

"Yeah, I guess that's true." Serena sweatdropped

"Pardon me, but are you a psychic by any chance?" Mandi asked

"I am, how'd you know?" Ash asked

"I sensed a psychic energy within you." Mandi said

"Sensed? Does that mean you're—." Ash said

"Yes." Mandi said as he pulled out a Poké Ball & telekinetically levitated it over his hand. "I am psychic as well."

While Ash, Serena, & Mandi were having lunch

"So you're a psychic & magician?" Ash said

"Yes, my mother is a psychic & my father is a juggler." Mandi said "Growing up, I always had a passion for magic."

"Guess you put your psychic powers to good use, huh?" Ash said

"Yes." Mandi nodded

"Was it hard for you learning to control your powers." Serena asked

"It was a struggle." Mandi replied "When I was a kid, I was cornered by bullies & when I called for help they started floating in the air & were thrown back & that's when I first discovered my psychic powers. At first I was afraid of using my powers, but my mother taught me how to control them with ease."

"I bet those bullies thought twice about messing with you." Meowth bragged

"Hm." Mandi smiled with a light chuckle

"Have you heard from Melvin?" Ash asked

"I have, he's currently in Las Vegas." Mandi said

"Oh, that means he's finally achieving his dream." Serena said

"Yes." Mandi said as he stood up. "It was nice talking to you both, but I overstayed my welcome."

"Ok, guess I'll see you in the Water Field." Ash said

"Indeed." Mandi as he snapped his fingers & disappeared in a puff of smoke.

"So, which Pokémon are you gonna use for the Water Field, Ash?" Serena said

"Well, I will use a couple of my Water Types that's for sure." Ash said

"Remember to choose wisely." Serena said

You have a call from Professor Oak

"Excuse me, Serena." Ash said as he got up from his chair "I have to take this."

"Okay." Serena said

Ash went outside of the restaurant & picked up the call

"Hey Professor." Ash said

"Hello, my boy." Oak said "I was just calling to ask which Pokémon you want me to send for your first match."

"Well, I'm gonna be battling on the Water Field & I think I've decided which Pokémon I'm gonna use." Ash said

25 minutes later, Gary had won his battle on the Ice Field & Leaf won her battle on the Grass Field. Now it was Ash's turn on the Water field.

"Well, this is it, good luck Ash." Serena said

"Thanks Serena." Ash said

"Piii Piii." Togepi said as she jumped into Ash's arms & hugged him

"Aww, Togepi's wishing you good luck." Serena adored

"Thanks, Togepi." Ash chuckled as he gave her back to Serena

At the Water Field, Ash & Mandi arrived, Serena was sitting in the audience next to Daisy(Gary & Blue's sister.).

Delia, Professor Oak, & the people of Pallet Town were watching the match on TV back at Pallet Town.

"Good luck, Sweetheart." Delia said

"We'll be cheering for you all the way along with Leaf & Gary." Oak said

Melvin was also watching the match on TV with his Exeggcute in Las Vegas

"Never thought my nephew Mandi & friend Ash would compete against each other." Melvin said "I don't even know who to root for."

"Exeggcute." Exeggcute said

"Now, for the third battle on the Water Field." The announcer said "On the green side, we have Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town & on the red side, we have Mandi the Astounding."

"The battle between Ash of Pallet Town & Mandi the Astounding will begin. This is a 3 on 3 battle & will be over when either side's Pokémon are unable to battle." The referee said

"Go Exeggutor." Mandi said as he sent out his Exeggutor.

"Exeggutor." Exeggutor said

"Kingler, I choose you!" Ash said as he sent out his Kingler

"Kuki Kuki." Kingler said

"Whoa, that's one tough-looking Kingler." Todd said as he was in the front row of the audience & took pictures

"Battle begin!" The referee said

ASH VS MANDI

"Exeggutor, use Energy Ball." Mandi said. Exeggutor fired an orb of light green energy from its mouth.

"Go underwater." Ash said. Kingler dove underwater & dodged the attack

"Use Psychic." Mandi said.

"Tor." Exeggutor said as it's eyes glowed blue & telekinetically created a whirlpool & revealed Kingler's hiding spot

"Now, Leaf Storm." Mandi said

"Tor!." Exeggutor yelled as a barrage of green leaves started spinning around itself, then it fired them & hit Kingler.

"You alright?" Ash asked

"Kuki Kuki!" Kingler said as he snapped his pincers

"Then use Ice Beam." Ash said. Kingler fired a light blue beams of ice from his claw & hit Exeggutor

"Use Hypnosis." Mandi said. eyes glowed pinkish purple & released waves of energy

"Use Protect." Ash said as Kingler summoned a turquoise force field & protected himself

"Alright, now use X-Scissor."

Kingler's pincers glowed light green, crossed them in an X formation & slashed Exeggutor which caused it to faint.

"Exeggutor is unable to battle, Kingler wins." The referee declared

"& Exeggutor is down & out by a super effective Bug Type move." The announcer said

"Exeggutor return." Mandi said as he returned Exeggutor. "Not bad, Go Seadra."

"Seadra." Seadra said

"Seadra, Laser Focus." Mandi said.

"Sea." Seadra said as his glowed light orange for a second

"Kingler, use Brine." Ash said. Kingler fired a powerful stream of water at Seadra

"Use Agility." Mandi said as Seadra swam at fast speed & avoided the attack

"Now, Double-Edge."

Seadra became surrounded in streaks of white aura & tackled Kingler which caused it to faint

"Kingler is unable to battle, Seadra wins." The referee declared

"Kingler return." Ash said as he returned Kingler "Seadra, I choose you!"

Ash sent out his Seadra

"Seadra." Seadra said

"Ash goes with his own Seadra, this will be a battle between two Pokémon of the same kind." The announcer said "Not only that but it's speed vs speed."

"Seadra, use Headbutt." Ash said.

"You use Headbutt as well." Mandi said.

Both Seadras clashed each other with their heads repeatedly

"Use Bubble Beam." Ash said as his Seadra fired a beam of blue bubbles from his mouth at Mandi's Seadra

"Double Team." Mandi said as his Seadra glowed white, created multiple copies of itself & avoided the attack.

"Now, use Smokescreen."

Mandi's Seadra & its copies released black smoke from their mouths which covered the battlefield.

"Seadra, time to use Twister." Ash said

"Seadraaaa!" Ash's Seadra yelled as he summoned a large twister which blew the smoke away, hit the copies, & captured Mandi's Seadra

"Now, use Razor Wind." Ash said. Ash's Seadra's tail glowed white, fired crescent-shaped waves of energy from it, & hit Mandi's Seadra which caused it to faint.

"Mandi's Seadra is unable to battle, Ash's Seadra wins." The referee declared

"Seadra return." Mandi said as he returned his Seadra. "Golbat, Go."

Mandi sent out his Golbat

"Use Confuse Ray."

Golbat fired a golden orb of energy from its mouth & hit Seadra which caused him to become confused.

"Now, Giga Drain."

Golbat forms a large ball of light green energy from its mouth, shoots a beam, & hits Seadra which caused him to faint

"Seadra is unable to battle, Golbat wins." The referee said

"Seadra return." Ash said as he returned Seadra & pulled out his last Poké Ball "You're my last hope, Raticate, I choose you!"

Ash sent out his Raticate.

"Raticate." Raticate said

"Ash chose Raticate." Serena said

"& it's a good thing too." Daisy said "Raticate are known to be excellent swimmers."

"Raticate, Use Swords Dance." Ash said.

"Rat!" Raticate said as several blue swords circled around him & crossed together

"Golbat, Air Slash." Mandi said. Golbat's wings glowed light blue & fired saw disc-like energy blades from them.

"Dive underwater." Ash said as Raticate dove underwater

"Try to look for Raticate." Mandi said as Golbat started swooping down to look for Raticate

"Alright, come out & use Hyper Fang." Ash said

Raticate came out of the water with its teeth glowing bright orange, then he bit down on Golbat's leg which caused it to screech in pain.

"Now, Thunder."

Raticate summoned large lightning bolt from above which hit Golbat & caused it to faint

"Golbat is unable to battle, Raticate wins. So the victory goes to Ash from Pallet Town." The referee declared

"There you have it, Ash Ketchum has won his first victory." The announcer said

"We did it, Raticate." Ash said as he hugged Raticate

"Raticate." Raticate said happily

"That was a great battle." Serena said "& Ash won."

"That's quite a friend you got there, Brock." Misty complimented

"I know." Brock smiled

"That's my boy." Giovanni said

"Per." Persian said

At Pallet Town

"Ash has done well." Oak said

"He has, & I hope he keeps doing his best." Delia smiled proudly

At Las Vegas.

"Well, guess we can't win them all, can we?" Melvin said

"Exeggcute." Exeggcute agreed

Back with Ash & Serena, they were outside along with Mandi.

"Congratulations on your first win, Ash." Mandi congratulated as he shook hands with Ash

"Thanks Mandi, that was an awesome battle we had." Ash said

"It was, I must go now." Mandi said

"Ok, tell your uncle we said Hi." Ash said

"I will, farewell, my friends." Mandi said as he left

As Mandi was leaving Indigo Plateau

You have a call from Uncle Melvin

"Hello, Uncle Melvin?" Mandi said

"Hey Mandi, I saw your battle, you did well." Melvin said

"Thank you, Ash was certainly something else." Mandi said

"I know." Melvin said

"But over all, he's a good person & a good Trainer." Mandi said

"He is, that's why he & his friends have helped me." Melvin said "Anyway, I have to go."

"Alright, Ash & his friends said Hi." Mandi said as he hung up.

Back with Ash

"You did great, Ash." Serena praised

"Thanks Serena, 1 field down, 3 to go." Ash said

Hey Everyone, I decided to have Mandi be a psychic because he looked like he might be a psychic. I'm sorry if you guys thought Ash's Kingler was gonna defeat all 3 of Mandi's Pokémon, but Tev & I decided not to do that since so people don't complain that Ash isn't using all of his Pokemon.
