The Indigo League Part 10: The Pallet Leaf & the Cerulean Storm

"Welcome to the second match of the Top 8 between Leaf of Pallet Town & Fergus of Cerulean City." The Announcer said

"Let's see, I'll bet my Pay Day on Fergus." Meowth said

"I'm going with Meowth's choice." Gary said

"Are you two saying Leaf is gonna lose?" Serena asked

"Well, it sure looks like she is." Gary said "Fergus looks like he's not one to be taken lightly."

"He's got a point." Ash said

"Pika Pi." Pikachu agreed

"Go Tangela!" Leaf said as she sent out her Tangela

"Tang." Tangela said

"Golduck Go!" Fergus said as he sent out his Golduck

"Golduck!" Golduck quacked

"Battle Begin!" The referee said

LEAF VS FERGUS

"Golduck, use Calm Mind." Fergus said

"Duck." Golduck said as it closed its eyes & blue green ripples entered its mind.

"Tangela, use Poison Powder." Leaf said. Tangela released purple sparkling powder from its body

"Use Dig." Fergus said as Golduck dug underground

"Now, use Ice Beam."

Golduck came out of the ground & fired light blue beams of ice from its beak & hit Tangela

"Use Slam." Leaf said. Tangela grabbed Golduck's leg & slammed it to the ground

"Now, Leaf Storm."

"Tangelaaaa!" Tangela said as a barrage of green leaves started spinning around & launched them at Golduck

"Use Whirlpool." Fergus said

"Golduuuuck!" Golduck said as it created a large whirlpool which protected it from the Leaf Storm

"Use Energy Ball." Leaf said. Tangela fired an orb of light green energy

"Dodge & use Ice Punch." Fergus said. Golduck dodged the attack, then its fist become surrounded by icy blue aura & punched Tangela which caused it to faint

"Tangela is unable to battle, Golduck wins." The referee declared

"Tangela return." Leaf said as she returned Tangela "Go Parasect!"

Leaf sent out her Parasect.

"Parasect." Parasect said

"Paresect, Use X-Scissor." Leaf said. Parasect's claws glowed light green, crossed them in an X formation & charged at Golduck

"Golduck, Aerial Ace." Fergus said. Golduck became surrounded by light blue streaks & charged at Parasect

Golduck & Parasect clashed each other which caused an explosion & both Pokémon to skid back

"Use Ice Punch." Fergus said as Golduck charged at Parasect with Ice Punch

"Grass Knot." Leaf said

"Para." Parasect said as its eyes glowed light green & summoned two green glowing vines tied up in a knot which caused Golduck to trip on the ground.

"Now Stun Spore." Leaf said. Parasect released orange sparkling powder from its mushroom

"Use Blizzard." Fergus said. Golduck released a powerful blizzard from its beak which blew away the Stun Spore, hit Parasect & froze it.

"Oh no, Parasect!" Leaf cried

"Now, Zen Headbutt." Fergus said. Golduck became surrounded by a light blue force field which broke the ice, hit Parasect & caused it to faint.

"Parasect is unable to battle, Golduck wins." The referee declared

"Golduck has taken out two of Leaf's Pokémon which are Grass Types." The announcer said

"Leaf better think of something." Oak said

"Geez, this guy is good. The last Grass Type I have is Venusaur, but I'm saving him for last. Guess I have to fight water with water." Leaf thought "Go Starmie!"

Leaf sent out her Starmie

"Brrrr." Starmie cooed

"Starmie, use Rain Dance." Leaf said

"Brrrrrrr!" Starmie said as it summoned dark clouds & heavy rain

"Golduck, Shadow Claw." Fergus said. Golduck's arm became surrounded by black claw-shaped aura & charged at Starmie

"Use Thunder." Leaf said. Starmie fired a powerful blast of yellow electricity & hit Golduck which caused it to faint.

"Golduck is unable to battle, Starmie wins." The referee declared

"Golduck return." Fergus said "Go Nidoqueen."

Fergus sent out his Nidoqueen

"Nido!" Nidoqueen said

"A Nidoqueen?" Serena said "But it's a Poison & Ground Type & Starmie's a Water & Psychic Type."

"Hey look at Nidoqueen, looks like she's not fazed by the Rain Dance." Gary said

"Fergus must've trained her to withstand water." Ash said

"Starmie, use Bubble Beam." Leaf said. Starmie fired a beam of blue bubbles from its core

"Nidoqueen, Drill Run." Fergus said. Nidoqueen spun like a drill, cut through the Bubble Beam & hit Starmie

"Use Hydro Pump." Leaf said. Starmie fired a powerful blast of water from its core

"Use Dig." Fergus said as Nidoqueen dug underground while spinning

"Now, use Flatter."

Nidoqueen came out of the ground, waved her hands & created red waves which caused Starmie to get confused.

"Starmie, calm down" Leaf called out

"Nidoqueen, Crunch." Fergus said. Nidoqueen opened her mouth, created yellow teeth-like aura & bites down Starmie

"Use Water Pulse." Leaf said. Starmie fired a blue orb of water from its core

"Body Slam." Fergus said. Nidoqueen jumped into the air, avoided the attack, & landed on Starmie which caused it to faint as the Rain Dance cleared away

"Starmie is unable to battle, Nidoqueen wins." The referee declared

"Starmie return." Leaf said "Go Butterfree."

Leaf sent out her Butterfree

"Free Free." Butterfree said

"Heh, this'll be easy." Fergus smirked "Nidoqueen, Flamethrower."

"Queen!" Nidoqueen said as she shot fire from her mouth

"Butterfree, use Gust." Leaf said.

"Free!" Butterfree said as its wings glowed light blue & released a gust of wind which dissipated the Flamethrower

"Dang it, then we'll use Stone Edge." Fergus said. Nidoqueen stomped on the ground causing light blue rock pillars to appear out of the ground towards Butterfree

"Use Quiver Dance." Leaf said.

"Free." Butterfree said as it glowed white & dodged the attack leaving behind afterimages of himself.

"Now, use Psychic." Leaf said

"Free." Butterfree said as its eyes glowed blue & released waves of psychic energy & hit Nidoqueen

"Use Rock Tomb." Fergus said. Nidoqueen became outlined in white energy, multiple gray rocks appeared, then she launched them & hit Butterfree

"Use Stun Spore." Leaf said. Butterfree released orange sparkling powder from its wings & paralyzed Nidoqueen

"Now Solar Beam."

Butterfree's wings glowed faint yellow & fired a yellow beam of energy which hit Nidoqueen & caused her to faint

"Nidoqueen is unable to battle, Butterfree wins." The referee declared

"Nidoqueen return." Fergus said as he returned Nidoqueen "Go Poliwrath!"

Fergus sent out a blue bipedal Pokémon with a round body, muscular arms, & a white belly with a swirl in the center.

"Poliwrath!" Poliwrath said

"Who's that Pokémon?" Ash said as he pulled out his Rotom Phone

Poliwrath, the Tadpole Pokémon, a Water & Fighting Type, & the final evolved form of Poliwag. Kids often learn to swim by watching Poliwrath cut through the waves with a powerful breaststroke. This Pokémon's body is dense with muscles, so it has to swim instead of floating.

"Wow, Poliwrath's a very cool Pokémon." Ash said before thinking "I wonder how Poliwag is doing."

"Poliwrath, use Hydro Pump." Fergus said. Poliwrath fired a powerful blast of water from its swirl

"Double Team." Leaf said. Butterfree glowed white & created multiple copies of itself & avoided the attack

"Hm, Mind Reader." Fergus smirked

"Poli." Poliwrath said as its eyes glowed white for a second

"Use Supersonic." Leaf said as Butterfree prepared Supersonic

"Throat Chop." Fergus said. Poliwrath's hand became surrounded in purple energy & chopped Butterfree's throat which caused it to cancel out Supersonic

"Use Aerial Ace." Leaf said. Butterfree became surrounded by light blue streaks & hit Poliwrath.

"Poliwrath, use Icy Wind." Fergus said. Poliwrath's swirl glowed light blue & blew a gust of wind with light blue sparkle in it from it & hit Butterfree & froze little parts of its wings

"Free Free." Butterfree said as it was having trouble flying

"Hang in there, Butterfree, use Stun Spore." Leaf said as Butterfree released Stun Spore & paralyzed Poliwrath

"Use Refresh." Fergus said

"Poliwrath!" Poliwrath said a it glowed green & healed itself of its paralysis

"What?!" Leaf said shockingly

"Nice try, use Ice Punch." Fergus said. Poliwrath's fist become surrounded by icy blue aura & punched Butterfree which caused it to faint

"Butterfree is unable to battle, Poliwrath wins." The referee declared

"Butterfree return." Leaf said "Go Clefable!"

Leaf sent out her Clefable

"Clefable." Clefable said

"Use Moonblast." Leaf said. Clefable fired a pink orb of energy from its mouth

"Dodge it & use Poison Jab." Fergus said. Poliwrath dodged the attack & charged at Clefable with its hand glowing purple

"Use Dazzling Gleam." Leaf said

"Clefable!" Clefable said as it s became surrounded in rainbow-colored field of energy, which expands outwards & hit Poliwrath causing it to stumble back

"Use Hydro Pump." Fergus said. Poliwrath fired Hydro Pump & hit Clefable

"Use Magical Leaf." Leaf said. Clefable released multiple light green glowing leaves & hit Poliwrath

"Use Focus Blast." Fergus said. Poliwrath fired an orb of yellow energy from its hands

"Dodge it with Bounce." Leaf said as Clefable jumped high into the air

"Now Attract."

"Fable." Clefable winked as it released several pink heart & hit Poliwrath

"Poliwrath." Poliwrath said as his eyes became hearts

"Poliwrath, snap out of it." Fergus said

"Use Moonblast." Leaf said as Clefable fired Moonblast & hit Poliwhirl

"Poliwrath, use Water Pulse." Poliwrath fired a blue orb of water from its hands

"Bounce again." Leaf said. Clefable used Bounce & dodge the attack

"Use Circle Throw." Fergus said.

As Clefable was about to hit Poliwrath with Bounce, Poliwrath grabbed Clefable's leg, turned on its back & threw Clefable over its head with a kick.

"Poli?" Poliwrath said as it snapped out of its infatuation

"Alright, use Bubble Beam." Fergus said. Poliwrath fired a beam of blue bubbles from its swirl

"Clefable, Thunder Punch." Leaf said. Clefable's fist became surrounded by yellow electricity & charged at Poliwrath

"Poliwrath, Poison Jab." Fergus said as Poliwrath charged at Clefable with Poison Jab

Both Pokémon clashed passed each other with their attacks. Several seconds later, they both fainted.

"Both Pokémon are unable to battle, it's a draw." The referee declared

"Both Poliwrath & Clefable have been knocked out by each other's attacks. Now Leaf is down to her last Pokémon while Fergus only has two Pokémon left."

"Return." Leaf & Fergus said as they returned their Pokémon

"You're my only hope." Leaf thought as she looked at her last Poké Ball "Go Venusaur!"

Leaf sent out her Venusaur

"Venusaur." Venusaur said

"Go Gyarados!" Fergus said as he sent out his Gyarados

"Okay Venusaur, Mega Evolve." Leaf said as she touched the Key Stone of her Mega Earring which shined in a white light

Venusaur glowed bright red-orange & mega evolved into Mega Venusaur

"Saur!" Venusaur roared

"That's our cue." Fergus said as he pulled out his dog tag necklace which had a Key Stone in it & Gyarados had a neck holder with a Gyaradosite in it. "Mega Evolve!"

Gyarados glowed bright red-orange & mega evolved into Mega Gyarados. Mega Gyarados cheek fins had become longer & gained a yellow tint. Its crest had become larger & black, & its barbels also gained considerable length. A large spike had extended downward underneath its chin, & it now had a black underside with a red stripe around the edges. The yellow spots along its body had been replaced by raised red scales. Two large yellow fins with blue spines had appeared on its back. Most of the other fins along its back had disappeared, replacing them with two rows of blue spikes. It also had four yellowish, spiky fins near its tail: two on its back and two on its underside

"That's a Mega Gyarados?" Serena said shockingly

"It's a lot more terrifying than a normal Gyarados." Meowth said fearfully

"Gyarados, Dragon Dance." Fergus said. Mega Gyarados became surrounded in swirling purple clouds of energy & spun around several times

"Venusaur, Use Power Whip." Leaf said as Mega Venusaur's vine glowed light green

"Use Iron Tail." Fergus said as Mega Gyarados' tail glowed white & clashed with Mega Venusaur

"Use Energy Ball." Leaf said. Mega Venusaur fired an orb of light green energy from its mouth & hit Mega Gyarados

"Use Ice Beam." Fergus said. Mega Gyarados fired light blue beams of ice from its mouth & hit Mega Venusaur

"Use Grassy Glide." Leaf said. Mega Venusaur glowed light green & glided towards Mega Gyarados leaving a trail of light green leaves

"Use Crunch." Fergus said. Mega Gyarados created yellow teeth-like aura & clashed with Mega Venusaur

"Use Sunny Day." Leaf said

"Saaaaaaur!" Mega Venusaur said as it summoned a brighter sun

"Now, Use Solar Beam." Leaf said. Mega Venusaur's flower glowed faint yellow & instantly fired a yellow beam of energy from it

"Use Hyper Beam." Fergus said. Mega Gyarados fired an orange beam of energy from its mouth which collided with Solar Beam

"Use Petal Blizzard." Leaf said. Mega Venusaur released a blizzard of multiple pink petals from its flower & hit Mega Gyarados

"Now Leaf Storm."

"Venusaur!" Mega Venusaur said as a barrage of green leaves started spinning around & launched them at Mega Gyarados

"Use Fire Blast." Fergus said. Mega Gyarados fired a 大-shaped blast of yellow-orange fire from its mouth which burned through the Leaf Storm & hit Mega Venusaur.

"Use Synthesis." Leaf said

"Saur!" Mega Venusaur said as it glowed white

"Quick, Gyarados use Rain Dance." Fergus said. Mega Gyarados roared as it summoned dark clouds & heavy rain causing Mega Venusaur to heal itself a little bit with Synthesis

"Now, finish it with Hurricane." Fergus said. Mega Gyarados released a powerful gust of wind from its mouth & hit Mega Venusaur & reverted back to its previous form which caused it to faint as the Rain Dance disappeared

"Venusaur is unable to battle, Gyarados wins." The referee declared "So the victory goes to Fergus of Cerulean City."

"There you have it, Fergus has won the match & will be moving on to the Top 4." The announcer said

"Leaf lost." Serena said in concern

"Yeah, I thought she would lose against Fergus." Gary said

"We should go see if she's okay." Ash suggested

Later after the match, Leaf was sitting In the locker room

"Hey Leaf." Ash said

"Oh, hey guys." Leaf said

"Are you okay?" Serena asked

"I'm fine, but Fergus was something else." Leaf said "It was clear that he was a stronger trainer than me in our match, but it was fun while I competed."

"I think you did pretty good out there." Gary said

"Hm, thanks Gary." Leaf slightly blushed

"No problem." Gary smiled as he looked at Ash

"Too bad both of you lost, I was looking forward to battling you guys." Ash said as he sighed in disappointment

"Don't worry Ash, you'll get a chance to battle us in a league tournament someday." Leaf encouraged

"I hope so." Ash said

"Well, it looks like it's up to you, Ash." Gary said

"What do you mean?" Ash asked

"Now that Gary & I are out of the league, everyone in Pallet Town is gonna be counting you." Leaf said

"Yeah, but my last battle sure was intense & a bit difficult." Ash said.

"& it's gonna keep getting harder in your next match & the match after that if you reach the finals, Ashy-boy." Gary said

""You're right, but don't worry, I'll be sure to wins this tournament for the three of us." Ash said in determination

"That's the spirit, Ash." Leaf smiled

Hey Everyone, sorry for the long wait. I know most of you are disappointed that Leaf lost & were hoping that she would face Ash in the Indigo Plateau Conference. But don't worry, Ash will get a chance to battle her in a league tournament, I promise you that.
