Dark City

The gang had arrived at a place called Dark City. On the way there, they had gone to town that was suffering from a drought. The river was stopped from flowing by a huge bundle of thorns, but thanks to an old hippie & his Snorlax, they made the river run again. The old hippie gave Ash a TM44(Rest), a TM35.1(Sleep Talk), & a TM13.1(Snore).

"Nobody's here & it's the middle of the day." Brock said

"Hey, you three." A voice said

The gang looked & saw three boys

"You guys aren't from around here, are ya?" The first boy asked

"No, we're just passing by." Serena said

"Are you Pokémon Trainers?" The second boy said.

"Yes we are, we're heading to Cinnabar Island." Ash said

"Well, you better get out of here, quick." The third boy suggested. "Our town's not at ease when Pokémon Trainer's are here."

"What? Why's that?" Ash asked

"Come with us?" The boys said

The boys led the gang to a restaurant, where they had lunch.

"Here in Dark City, there are two Gyms: the Yas & Kaz Gym. They're in the middle of a war, & they'll hire any Pokémon Trainer that passes by to battle for them." The restaurant owner explained

"So, that's why nobody's around the streets." Ash said

"What's the point of doing that?" Brock asked

"They claim that whatever gym wins will become an official Pokémon Gym." The first boy said

"If I didn't know any better I'd say it's more like street fighting than Pokémon battling" Serena said

"Hello there." A woman said entering the restaurant "I'm from the Yas Gym, are you by any chance Pokémon Trainers."

"Yes we are." Ash said

"Then would you consider joining us at the Yas Gym?" The woman asked

"...Can you please give us a minute?" Ash asked

"Sure." The woman said as she exit the restaurant

"Alright, guys, we need to investigate what these gyms are like, then we can figure out how to stop this." Ash suggested

"Right." Brock & Serena nodded before exiting with Ash.

"Miss, before we make a decision, we want you to take us to the gym first." Ash said

"Sure." The woman asked

When they arrived at the gym, they saw a group of men working out. When they got to Yas' room, they saw Yas lifting a couple of dumbbells while a light green mantis-like Pokémon was meditating. Serena pulled out her Rotom Phone

Scyther, the Mantis Pokémon, a Bug & Flying Type. Scyther's impressive speed in battle leaves its opponents' heads spinning, which gives it an opening to slash in with its sharp scythes. Young Scyther live in the mountains, where they form groups to train these skills.

"Mr. Yas, this boy wishes to speak to you." The woman said

"What do you want? Are you here to join us?" Yas asked

"Before we jumped to conclusions, answer me this question." Ash said. "Why is it so important for you to become an official Pokémon Gym?"

"What better way is there to make money than that?" Yas said

"If that's your reason, then we pass." Ash said

"What was that?" Yas said

"Pokémon are not tools for fighting or making money." Ash said

"Look kid, if you're here to waste my time, then get out." Yas said agitatedly

"Fine." Ash said as he & the others left

Back at the restaurant

"I think the Kaz Gym is the same as Yas Gym." Serena said

"Yeah, they think Pokémon battles are like plain fighting. It'll be bad if they become an official Pokémon Gym." Ash said

"They both keep getting stronger & wreck our town with their fighting." The first boy said

"Did you see Yas' Scyther?" The second boy asked

"We did, what Pokémon does Kaz have?" Ash asked

"An Electabuzz." The third boy answered

"Electabuzz?" Ash said as he looked into his Rotom Phone which showed a yellow humanoid-like Pokémon with black stripes & a large, lightning bolt-shaped stripe on its chest.

Electabuzz, the Electric Pokémon, an Electric Type. Electabuzz consumes electricity, but isn't very good at retaining the power within its body—it's constantly leaking electric current. If the power goes out on a calm, sunny day, it's probably the fault of Electabuzz.

"What do we do now?" Meowth asked

"I don't know." Ash said

At Yas Gym

"Alright everyone, The inspector from the PIA will be coming to town any minute. We have to run those Kaz Gym trainers out of town before he gets here." Yas announced

At Kaz Gym

"The inspector from the PIA is on his way. We have to destroy those Yas Gym trainers & show him we're the strongest. This towns only big enough for one gym" Kaz said

In the middle of Dark City, Yas, Kaz, & their recruits confronted each other

"So Kaz, looks like the time has come." Yas said

"It sure has, I suggest you clear out now, before you get any trouble." Kaz said

"I could say the same to you." Yas said

"This is bad." Brock said "if this keeps up, the townspeople are gonna think all Pokémon Trainers are dangerous."

"Ash, we have to think of something quick." Serena said but Ash was nowhere to be seen. "Ash?"

"Where the heck did he go?" Brock said confusingly

"Go Scyther." Yas said as he sent out his Scyther

"Scyther!" Scyther said

"Go Electabuzz." Kaz said as he sent out his Electabuzz

"Electa!" Electabuzz said

All the Yas & Kaz trainers sent out their Pokémon

"Alright Scyther, use Slash." Yas said. Scyther's arm glowed white & charged at Electabuzz

"Electabuzz, use Thunder Punch." Kaz said. Electabuzz's fist became surrounded by yellow electricity & charged at Scyther.

Suddenly Scyther & Electabuzz stopped, became outlined in light blue, got lifted into the air.

"Huh?" Kaz said confusingly

"What is this?" Yas said confusingly

When everyone looked, they saw Ash whose eyes were glowing blue with his hand raised.

"What are you doing, kid?" Yas said

"Put them down." Kaz demanded

Ash put both Pokémon down & got closed to them.

"Scyther, Electabuzz, listen to me." Ash said

"Buzz?/Scy?" Both Pokémon looked at Ash

"Is fighting each other to achieve your trainer's dreams of becoming an official Pokémon Gym worth all this? Look around you & look at the results, these people are afraid of Pokémon & Pokémon Trainers because of what you & your trainers are constantly doing, & you're destroying their town & their home, is that what you two want?" Ash said

"..." Both Pokémon stared

"Scyther, Electabuzz & the Kaz Pokémon are not your enemies. & Electabuzz, Scyther & the Yas Pokémon are not your enemies. You two need to focus on the real enemy & do what you think is right." Ash said

Both Scyther & Electabuzz stared at Ash, then they looked around. Scyther saw the debris it caused when Yas & Kaz last fought & Electabuzz saw fear in the eyes of the townspeople who were watching them. Both Pokémon stared at each other & nodded

"Scyther/Electa" They both called out

The Yas Pokémon went Scyther & glared at their trainers & the Kaz Pokémon went to Electabuzz & glared at their trainers.

"Hey, what's the big idea in turning our Pokémon against us?" Yas asked angrily

"Yeah, we're both Gym Leaders, show us some respect!" Kas yelled

"You're no Gym Leaders." Ash said

"What was that!?" Yas & Kas yelled

"The Gym Leaders that I've met up till now, sure they did things differently & they all had different personalities & attitudes. They even battled differently too, but even so there was one thing that every one of them had in common & that was how much they loved their Pokémon. There wasn't one of them who only thought of Pokémon as tools for fighting & money, the way that you do." Ash said

"I agree." A voice said

Everyone looked & saw a figure with a trench coat, a white mask, sunglasses, & a fedora.

"Who are you?" Yas & Kaz asked

"I am from the Pokémon Inspection Agency." The figure said as she took off her disguise & revealed to be Nurse Joy

"What!?" Yas & Kaz said in shock

"I could never allow people who use Pokémon for nothing but street fighting & money to open an official Pokémon Gym." Joy scolded

"Please, Nurse Joy." Yas begged

"Won't you give us another chance?" Kaz begged

"Only if you're willing to start over, are you?" Joy asked

"Yes ma'am, tell us what we need to do." Yas & Kaz both pleaded

"Well, you must listen to what this boy says." Joy said

"To start things off, let me introduce myself. My name is Ash Ketchum." Ash introduced

"Ash Ketchum?" Yas said shockingly

"Then that means..." Kaz said shockingly

"Your Red Ketchum's kid brother!" They both exclaimed

"So you heard of my brother Red, huh?" Ash said

"Oh, honorable kid brother, please teach us how to act." Both Yas & Kaz begged on their knees as Ash sweatdropped

"Ok, first, you need to think about what I just said recently. Second, you need to apologize to your Pokémon, if you love & care about them, you should consider them your friends & partners. Third, you have to fix everything you destroyed in this town." Ash said

"At once, honorable kid brother." Yas & Kaz bowed

"Please don't call me that." Ash sweatdropped

So Yas, Kaz, & the gym trainers did what Ash said.

"Looks like they've all had a change of heart & decided to become true Pokémon trainers." Brock said

"Now the town won't be afraid of Pokémon Trainers anymore." Serena said

"You were awesome, Mr. Ketchum." The first boy beamed

"Yeah, we want to be Pokémon Trainers just like you." The second boy beamed

"May we have your autograph?" The third boy beamed

"Whoa, one at a time." Ash sweatdropped as the others laughed

Later the gang left Dark City, as the journey continues.
