Bulbasaur

The gang were on there way to Vermillion City

"You sure you know where we're going?" Meowth asked

"It says on my Rotom Phone that this path will take us to Vermillion City." Brock said looking at his Rotom Phone

"I hope we can catch some Pokémon in this area" Ash said

On the way, they spotted a blue Pokémon with two legs & green leaves on it's head drinking from a small lake. Serena pulled out her Rotom Phone

Oddish, The Weed Pokémon, a Grass & Poison Type, Oddish seeks out fertile ground where it can absorb nutrients from the soil. When it finds the perfect spot, it buries itself, & its feet apparently become like tree roots

"Aww, it's so cute." Serena said as she pulled out a Poké Ball "I'm gonna catch it"

Serena threw the Poké Ball at Oddish, but then suddenly something whacked the Pokéball away. When they looked they saw a Bulbasaur

"Wow, it's a Bulbasaur" Ash exclaimed surprisingly as he pulled out his Rotom Phone

Bulbasaur, the Seed Pokemon, A Grass & Poison Type, Bulbasaurs like to take a nap in the sunshine. While it sleeps, the seed on its back catches the rays & uses the energy to grow

Bulbasaur & Oddish ran away from the gang.

"Hey wait, don't run away" Ash called out

"Aw, I really wanted to catch that Oddish" Serena sighed in disappointment

"That Bulbasaur must be a friend of that Oddish & was protecting it" Brock said "Don't worry, you two. You'll get more luck next time"

The gang pressed on & came across a bridge. While they were crossing the wind picked up & the bridge began to fall apart, then Brock slipped off & fell into the river. Ash, Serena, Pikachu, Eevee & Meowth managed to get to the other side. They searched down the river, but they ended up in a tree net trap. A few minutes later

"Hey Ash, Serena" A voice called out

When they looked, they saw Brock & Bulbasaur

"Brock, you're alright" Serena said in relief

"Get us down" Meowth yelped

"Don't worry, we'll get you down." Brock said as he turned to Bulbasaur " Bulbasaur, use Razor Leaf"

Bulbasaur fired several green glowing leaves at the net which broke apart & Ash, Serena, & their Pokémon fell on the ground

"We've been looking all over for ya. What happened?" Meowth asked

"This Bulbasaur we met earlier saved my life, it wasn't alone. A girl was there with Bulbasaur while I was washed away" Brock said

Brock led Ash to a wood cabin near a lake.

"Melanie" Brock said to the girl he was talking about

"Oh Brock, Bulbasaur, you're back" Melanie said "Are these your friends?"

"Yes, this is Ash & Serena" Brock introduced

"Nice to meet you & thank you for helping Brock." Ash said

"Oh, it was nothing. Bulbasaur was the one who saved Brock, I just came over to help when Bulbasaur called out to me." Melanie said

"Thank you so much, Bulbasaur." Ash said

"Bulba" Bulbasaur scoffed as he turned his head the other way

"You'll have to excuse Bulbasaur, it's not very fond of Pokémon trainers." Melanie said

"Is Bulbasaur, your Pokémon?" Serena asked

"Oh no, Bulbasaur only protects the injured Pokémon in the Hidden Village." Melanie said

"This is a place where Pokémon are able to rest & relax. When Pokémon get abandoned or injured, they can come here. Melanie takes care of them until they feel better. Then the Pokémon leave. It's more like a health spa" Brock explained "Melanie collects plants to use for medicine. She knows all about which plants can help a Pokémon feel better or grow stronger when it's too weak."

"& if you're familiar with the traps, I'm the one who set them up. I guess they really worked." Melanie said "There are so many injured Pokémon here & I have to protect them."

"Was the bridge a trap too?" Ash asked

"Yes" Melanie nodded

Ash & Brock were helping Melody tend to the Pokémon while Serena was talking to Oddish.

"Oddish, I'm sorry about earlier. I guess you were a bit surprised when I tried to catch you." Serena apologized

"Oddish" Oddish nodded

"Melanie told me that your trainer abandoned you because you were weak. Some trainers can be insensitive, but not all of us are like that. Don't worry, you'll find a trainer who understands you" Serena assured

Serena then noticed Bulbaser peeking from the bushes & glaring at her suspiciously. Serena bravely walked up to it.

"Bulbasaur, come here" Serena said sweetly as she bent down & stuck out her hand

"Bulba" Bulbasaur growled defensively

"It's okay, I'm not gonna hurt you" Serena assured as she got closer

Bulbasaur tackled Serena which caused her to fall back. Ash & Brock noticed & went up to her.

"Are you okay, Serena?" Ash asked as he helped her on her feet

"I'm okay" Serena said dusting herself off

"Bulbasaur, there's no need to keep that guard of yours up" Brock said "she only wants to be your friend"

"Saur" Bulbasaur growled as it went back into the bushes

"Oh Bulbasaur" Brock sighed as he shook his head

"Bulbasaur's worried about the other Pokémon, so it decided to be the village guardian. I admire it's bravery & loyalty, it would be great to have a Pokémon like that." Ash thought

Then something landed near the village.

"So this is the Hidden Village. Quite peaceful" Cassidy complimented

"Team Rocket" Ash said

"Well, fancy seeing you here" Cassidy said

"No surprise that you'll be here stealing Pokémon here" Ash suspected

"Of course it is, that's our specialty" Butch said

The machine that landed near the village was a vacuum. Team Rocket activated the machine.

"Everyone in the cabin!" Brock yelled as the Melanie & the Pokémon ran into the cabin but Oddish got caught in the suction

"Oddish!" Serena shouted

"Oddish" Oddish screamed

Then suddenly Bulbasaur caught Oddish with its vines. Bulbasaur was struggling to get to the cabin, but Ash & Serena helped block the wind so it could carry Oddish to the cabin. When they got in, Team Rocket turned up the volume of the vacuum, but Bulbasaur got on the roof & used Vine Whip on the vacuum. Then Ash got out of the cabin & sent out his Pidgeotto to use Gust. The suction and the gust mixed into a tornado & sent Team Rocket blasting off again.

"Is everyone alright?" Melanie asked

"Everyone's fine" Brock said

"with Bulbasaur here, the village is well-protected." Ash said

"Ash, don't you agree that Bulbasaur would be a great addition to your team?" Melanie asked

"To be honest, yes." Ash said

"then I think Bulbasaur should go with you" Melanie said

"What? Why?" Ash asked surprisingly

"Bulbasaur stayed here to protect the weaker Pokémon, but this village is to small & the bulb on its back can't grow. It needs to go out into the world & I know you'll take good care of it. Please do me this favor & take Bulbasaur with you." Melanie explained

"But Melanie, who's gonna protect you & the Pokémon?" Brock asked

"Bulbasaur has done a great job, but these Pokémon shouldn't remain in this village forever & ever. After they recover, the Pokémon are supposed to leave. But it's too safe here, so none of them wants to go away. They don't want to return to the outside world, but i think it's important that all of them return to the wild. That's where Pokémon belong & hopefully, someday, they'll find good trainers like you. Taking care of sick Pokémon will always be my mission, but I know my job isn't finished until they return where they come from, so it's the day the Pokémon leaves that is most rewarding to me. So you see it's time for Bulbasaur to leave here, it still has a lot of growing to do. I want it to be in a place where I'm sure it can grow strong & happy. I'm sure that place is you" Melanie said

Ash stared & turned to Bulbasaur

"What do you say, Bulbasaur?" Ash asked "You wanna come along with us?"

"Bulbasaur Bulba" Bulbasaur said

"Bulbasaur says that it will go with you but it wants to battle you first" Meowth translated

Ash accepted the battle, & he & Bulbasaur got into battle position.

"Rattata, I choose you!" Ash said as he sent out his Rattata

"Tata!" Rattata squeaked

Bulbasaur fired Razor Leaf at Rattata

"Use Swift." Ash said. Rattata tail glowed yellow & fired multiple yellow stars from it which collided with Razor Leaf

Bulbasaur charged with Tackle

"Use Flame Wheel." Ash said. Rattata released fire from his mouth while somersaulting at the same time & rolled into Bulbasaur which caused it to stumble back

"It surprises me that Rattata knows Flame Wheel" Serena said

"Flame Wheel is one of Rattata's Egg Moves, just like Dragon Tail is one of my Onix's Egg Moves. & Flame Wheel is very useful against Grass, Ice, & Steel Types." Brock explained

"Y'know I asked Rattata when did he learn Flame Wheel & he said that he was born with that move because his father knew it." Meowth said "As a matter of fact, Rattata's father was actually an Arcanine"

"Wow, that's amazing" Serena said

"Use Bite" Ash said. Rattata's teeth glowed white,creates white teeth-like aura & bites down Bulbasaur

"Go Poké Ball" Ash said as he threw a Poké Ball at Bulbasaur & caught it "We did it, we got Bulbasaur"

"Rat" Rattata smiled

Then Rattata glowed bluish white & evolved into a big light brown rat-like Pokémon

"Raticate" he said

"Wow, you evolved!" Ash exclaimed as he pulled out his Rotom Phone

Raticate, the Mouse Pokémon, A Normal Type, & the evolved form of Rattata, The webbing on its hind feet makes Raticate a good swimmer. Approach with caution—this Pokémon has a nasty temper & will bite with little provocation.

Learned Moves: Counter, Scary Face, & Swords Dance

"Brock, Serena, you both can have one of these Pokémon if you like" Melanie offered

"Oddish would you like to become my Pokémon?" Serena asked

"Oddish Oddish" Oddish said happily

"I have just the Pokéball" Serena said as she pulled out a Poké Ball with a light green & yellow colored stripe pattern

"Wait, that pattern. That's a Nest Ball, a Pokéball that is used to catch lower leveled Pokémon. Where'd you get it?" Brock asked

"My parents gave it to me along with several other kinds of Poké Balls as gifts for my journey when I started my journey as a Pokémon Trainer." Serena said

"Me too" Ash said

Serena tapped the Nest Ball on Oddish & caught it.

"Brock, what Pokémon are you gonna choose?" Ash said

"I'm gonna go with Staryu" Brock said as he picked up Staryu

"But Staryu ain't a Rock Type Pokémon" Meowth said

"I know it's not. But just because I'm a Rock Type Pokémon Trainer doesn't mean I can't catch different types of Pokémon. Think of the time I caught my Zubat." Brock said

"Oh yeah, I forgot about that" Meowth said

"Beside I always wanted a Staryu" Brock said as he captured Staryu & turned to Melanie "Are you sure, you'll be alright Melanie?"

"I'll be okay, you just enjoy your adventures. Before you go, I like to give you this" Melanie said as he gave Ash a seed that has the size of a hand "This is a Miracle Seed, it Powers up Grass Type Moves when a Pokémon holds it"

The gang bid farewell to Melanie. So with some newly caught Pokémon, a newly evolved one, & an item, the journey continues.

Hey Everyone, I decided to have Brock catch a Staryu because I thought it suited Brock because of Staryu's core on its center. I also decided to have Bulbasaur have a soft spot for Brock before Ash caught him. & I decided to have Ash, Serena, & Brock have each of every kind of Poké Ball at the start of their journey, except the Master Ball, Safari Ball, Cherish Ball, Beast Ball, Park Ball, Sport Ball, & Apricorn Poké Balls.
