Aerodactyl & the Kanto Fossils

The gang were walking through a canyon called Grampa Canyon

"Hey Boss, look over there." Meowth pointed

They saw a line of people with pickaxes & shovels

"I wonder what they're doing." Serena said

"Ashy-boy." A voice said

"Serena." Another voice said

The gang looked & saw Gary & Leaf

"Gary, Leaf." Ash said

"Hey guys, fancy meeting you here." Gary said

"What are guys doing here?" Ash asked

"We're here to look for some fossils." Leaf replied

"Fossils?" Meowth repeated

"Yeah, people come here to Grampa Canyon to look for Pokémon Fossils. Once you find them, you can have the Pokémon revived." Gary explained

"Wow, that sounds awesome." Serena said with excitement

"Can we join you?" Ash asked

"Sure, we'll let you guys tag along." Leaf said

The gang, Gary, & Leaf went to an empty area, but suddenly the ground started to crack & they fell in an underground.

"Oh man, my head." Gary groaned as he rubbed his head

"Is everyone alright?" Ash asked

"We're okay." Serena said

"Where are we?" Leaf said

"Looks like some kind of underground cave." Ash said as he looked up "The surface of the cave is blocked, we have to look for another way out."

"Pi Pikachu." Pikachu said as he pointed at a brown horseshoe crab-like Pokémon with yellow & a light blue ammonite-like Pokémon with a pale yellow shell on its back hiding behind a rock

"It's an Omanyte & Kabuto." Brock gasped as Ash & Serena pulled out their Rotom Phone

Omanyte, the Spiral Pokémon, a Rock & Water Type. Omanyte's sturdy shell protects it from enemy attacks. This ancient Pokémon was restored from a fossil at the site of an ocean that no longer that no longer exists.

Kabuto, the Shellfish Pokémon, a Rock & Water Type. Kabuto uses its hard shell to protect itself from attacks. This Pokémon species was plentiful a long, long time ago, but only a small number exist in the wild today.

Then the Omanyte & Kabuto came out from behind the rock

"Kabu Kabu." Kabuto said

"Omanyte." Omanyte said as it waved them over & left with Kabuto

"I think they want us to follow them." Ash said

Omanyte & Kabuto led the gang to the center of the underground cave.

"Kabuto/Omanyte." Both Pokémon called out

The gang saw 2 more Omanyte, another Kabuto, 2 bigger Omanyte-like Pokémon with spikes on their shells & four-sectioned, fang-like beaks, & 2 brown skeletal built bipedal-like Pokémon with scythe-like forearms.

"Wow, look at all those Fossil Pokémon." Leaf said surprisingly

"& it's their evolved forms Kabutops & Omastar." Brock said as Ash & Serena pulled out their Rotom Phones

Omastar, the Spiral Pokémon, a Rock & Water Type, & the evolved form of Omanyte. Omastar grasps food with its tentacles, leading some to believe it could be a distant ancestor of Octillery. Its heavy, cumbersome shell prevented it from thriving in the ancient past.

Kabutops, the Shellfish Pokémon, a Rock & Water Type, & the evolved form of Kabuto. Kabutops is a swift swimmer & expert undersea hunter, but its body is ill-suited to life on land. The species went extinct before it could adapt to changes in its ecosystem.

"It's unbelievable." Gary said surprisingly

"But how come they're not fossilized like other Fossil Pokémon?" Leaf said in confusion

"They must've been sleeping for over thousands of years, it's amazing that these Pokémon are still alive & well." Ash said

"Talk about a long cat nap." Meowth said

"Eevee Eevee." Eevee said as she pointed at a staircase with a pedestal on top & a Mega Stone on it

"Hey, a Mega Stone." Ash said

"Sweet, that Mega Stone is just crying out for me." Leaf beamed

"I call dibs on it!" Gary exclaimed as he & Leaf were about to run up the stairs

"AERO!" a voice screeched causing everyone

"What was that!?" Meowth said in aghast

Just then a light purplish gray, reptilian pterosaur-like Pokémon appeared as it Flew around & landed in between the Fossil Pokémon & the gang.

"It's an Aerodactyl!" Brock gasped as Ash pulled out his Rotom Phone

Aerodactyl, the Fossil Pokémon, a Rock & Flying Type. In its own time, this ancient Pokémon was master of the skies. The fangs that line its jaws are like teeth of a saw, & it uses them to grip & tear at opponents.

"Aero Aerodactyl." Aerodactyl said

"It says we have to defeat it in battle, if we want that Mega Stone." Meowth translated

"Aerodactyl." Aerodactyl said gesturing to Leaf.

"I think it wants you to go first, Leaf" Serena said

"Oh, well at least this Pokémon has some manners." Leaf said as she pulled out a Poké Ball "Go Ivysaur!"

Leaf sent out a Bulbasaur-like Pokémon with the bulb on its back that has been bloomed into a large pink bud

"Ivysaur." The Pokémon said as Ash scanned it

Ivysaur, the Seed Pokémon, a Grass & Poison Type, & the evolved form of Bulbasaur. Carrying the weight of the bud on its back makes Ivysaur's legs stronger. When the bud is close to blooming, the Pokémon spends more time sleeping in the sun.

"The evolved form of Bulbasaur." Ash said

"Ivysaur, Use Seed Bomb." Leaf said. Ivysaur fired multiple glowing green explosive seeds from its bud.

Aerodactyl dodged the attack, then its fangs glowed ice blue, created ice blue teeth-like aura & bites down Ivysaur which caused it to be frozen in a block of ice.

"Oh no, Ivysaur!" Leaf gasped

"Ivysaur's frozen." Serena said in aghast

"Aerodactyl just used Ice Fang." Ash said

Then Aerodactyl grabbed Ivysaur with its talon-like feet, lifted Ivysaur high into the air, sped down towards the ground and flew away at the last second, hurling Ivysaur to the ground which caused it to break free of the ice & faint.

"Ivysaur!" Leaf cried as she ran towards Ivysaur

"That move was Sky Drop." Brock said

"That Aerodactyl beat Ivysaur in the blink of an eye." Serena said in surprise

"Ivysaur, are you okay?" Leaf said worriedly

"Ivy." Ivysaur said

"You were great out there, return." Leaf said she returned Ivysaur

"That Mega Stone is mine." Gary boasted "Go Wartortle!"

Gary sent out his Wartortle

"Wartortle." Wartortle said

"Wartortle is a Water Type, so it should be strong against a Rock Type like Aerodactyl." Serena said

"True, but I wouldn't underestimate Aerodactyl." Ash said

"Heh, watch & learn." Gary smirked arrogantly "Wartortle, use Water Pulse."

Wartortle fired a blue orb of water from its hands, but Aerodactyl's wings glowed white & sent it back which hit Wartortle.

"Alright, use Aqua Jet."

Wartortle became surrounded by water & shot himself like a rocket towards Aerodactyl. Then Aerodactyl's fangs glowed yellow, created yellow teeth-like aura with sparks of electricity & charged at Wartortle. Both Pokémon clashed into each other causing an explosion, but the impact caused Wartortle to stumble back.

"That was Thunder Fang." Serena said surprisingly

"I wouldn't be surprised if Aerodactyl knows Fire Fang." Ash said

"Aeeeeroooo!" Aerodactyl screeched as supersonic waves came out of its mouth which caused Wartortle to become confused

"This ain't gonna end well" Meowth said in concern

"Eevee." Eevee agreed

"Pika." Pikachu agreed

& Meowth was right, Aerodactyl grabbed Wartortle & hurled it to the ground with Sky Drop which caused it to faint.

"What!?" Gary said in shock

"Aero Aerodactyl." Aerodactyl said

"Aerodactyl said your arrogance led to your defeat." Meowth translated

Gary growled & returned Wartortle

"Aerodactyl?" Aerodactyl asked gesturing to Ash

"Huh? Who, me?" Ash asked pointing at himself

Aerodactyl nodded

"Well, Alright." Ash said stepping forward

"Be careful, Ash." Serena said worriedly

"Yeah, that Aerodactyl is no joke." Brock warned

"Good luck, Boss. You're gonna need it." Meowth said nervously

"Charmeleon, I choose you!" Ash said as he sent out his Charmeleon

"Char." Charmeleon said

"Charmeleon? But it's a Fire Type & it's weak against Rock Type Pokémon." Leaf said confusingly

"Seriously? Did he just randomly select that Pokémon?" Gary complained with his arms crossed feeling bitter about his defeat.

"It wasn't a random selection." Serena said

"What?" Gary said looking at Serena

"Ash didn't choose Charmeleon because it was a random selection, he chose him because he wanted to." Serena said

"That's right, he believes in his Pokémon." Brock said

"Alright, Charmeleon, start off with Hone Claws." Ash said

Charmeleon's claws extended and glowed red, & an orange glow then shot up along his body increasing his Attack & Accuracy power. Aerodactyl's mouth glowed white& fired rocks from it

"Spin & use Iron Tail"

Charmeleon jumped with his tail flame glowing white, spun horizontally breaking through the rocks & hit Aerodactyl. Aerodactyl glowed white, fires silver ball from its mouth & hits Charmeleon

"Use Dragon Rage."

Charmeleon fired a blast of blue energy from his mouth, but Aerodactyl dodged & flew around at fast speed.

"Use Flame Burst."

Charmeleon fired an orange-yellow fireball from his mouth in the air. The fireball exploded & small embers hit Aerodactyl.

"Now, Thunder Punch."

Charmeleon's fist became surrounded by yellow electricity & punched Aerodactyl.

"Charmeleon knows Thunder Punch?" Leaf said surprisingly

"Yes, & it's very useful against Water & Flying Types." Brock said

Aerodactyl became surrounded by a golden force field & charged at Charmeleon

"Use Flare Blitz." Ash said. Charmeleon became surrounded by. light red flames with orange spiraling streaks & charged at Aerodactyl. Both Pokémon clashed into each other causing an explosion, but the impact caused Charmeleon to stumble back.

Then Aerodactyl became surrounded by light blue energy, fires a blue beam of energy & hit Charmeleon which caused him to become paralyzed

"Oh no, Charmeleon's been paralyzed by Dragon Breath!" Brock exclaimed

Aerodactyl grabbed Charmeleon by his arms, & hurled him to the ground with Sky Drop creating a huge cloud of dust. When the dust cleared, Charmeleon slowly got up on one knee

"Charmeleon, it's alright, you don't have to keep going if you don't want to." Ash assured as Charmeleon looked back at the gang

"He's right, please, don't try to push yourself too far." Serena pleaded

"It's okay to admit defeat, you can lose today & win tomorrow." Brock advised

"The choice is yours, Charmeleon." Ash said "You do what you wanna do."

Charmeleon stared at them & he remembered the times he had with them. He remembered when he first met them as a Charmander, when they saved, cared, & stood up for him & they were different from his old trainer Damian. He remembered when Ash took him in as is Pokémon & when he trained Charmander to get stronger, when he defeated Lt. Surge's Magnemite, & when he evolved into Charmeleon. Charmeleon also remembered when he made friends with the gang's Pokémon, when Brock healed him when he was hurt, & when Serena made him sweet treats. Charmeleon closed his eyes, got up on his feet, & looked at Aerodactyl with determined eyes.

"CHAAAAAAR!" Charmeleon roared as he glowed bluish white.

Everyone watched in awe as Charmeleon's grew bigger, his tail grew long, & grew a pair of wings on his back. When the light broke apart, Charmeleon had evolved into an orange draconic-like Pokémon.

"RAAAAARGH!" He roared

"Wow, that's awesome!" Ash exclaimed with excitement as he pulled out his Rotom Phone.

Charizard, the Lizard Pokémon, A Fire & Flying Type, & the evolved form of Charmeleon. Charizard seeks out stronger foes & only breathes fire during battles with worthy opponents. The fiery breath is so hot that it can turn any material to slag.

Ability: Blaze

Hidden Ability: Solar Power

Learned Moves: Wing Attack, Air Slash, Dragon Claw, Heat Wave, Shadow Claw, & Inferno

"Raargh." Charizard said as he gave Ash a thumbs up.

"Alright, in that case, go Charizard!" Ash said

Aerodactyl & Charizard flew up in the air & Charizard started chasing Aerodactyl.

"Charizard, Use Fire Spin." Ash said. Charizard sent a stream of fire with a flick of his tail & Aerodactyl got trapped in a fiery tornado.

"Now, time to use Dragon Claw."

Charizard's claw became surrounded by a light green claw-shaped aura & slashes the fiery tornado with Aerodactyl in it, causing an explosion. Aerodactyl fell on the ground & fainted.

"Alright Charizard, you did it!" Ash cheered as he gave Charizard a hug.

"Raargh!" Charizard roared as he fired Flamethrower at Ash's face in affection.

"Guess some things never change." Ash sweatdropped

The other Fossil Pokémon went up to Aerodactyl to make sure it was okay, then the Omastars & Kabutops helped Aerodactyl back on its feet.

"Aero." Aerodactyl said thanking its friends.

"Are you alright, Aerodactyl?" Ash asked

"Aerodactyl" Aerodactyl nodded before gesturing to the Mega Stone "Aerodactyl."

Ash went up the stairs, took the Mega Stone, & came back down.

"Congratulations Ash." Leaf congratulated

"Thanks." Ash said as he pulled out his Rotom Phone

This item is an Aerodactylite, a Mega Stone that can Mega Evolve Aerodactyl into Mega Aerodactyl.

"Cool." Ash said before turning to Aerodactyl "Thanks for the battle & Aerodactylite, Aerodactyl."

"Aero." Aerodactyl said before turning to Brock & Serena "Aero Aerodactyl."

"You have something for us?" Serena asked

"Omastar." The first Omastar said as it gave Serena a white egg with red & blue shapes.

"Hey, it's a Pokémon Egg." Gary said

"Pokémon Egg?" Serena repeated.

"Inside that egg is a Pokémon waiting to be hatched." Ash explained

"What kind of Pokémon is inside?" Serena asked

"Who knows, but we'll see when it hatches." Ash said

"Kabutops." The first Kabutops said as it gave Brock a shiny, amber-colored rock

"What's this?" Brock said as he pulled out his Rotom Phone

This item is an Old Amber, a fossil that can be regenerated into Aerodactyl

"Cool, I always wanted an Aerodactyl." Brock smiled

"Aero Aerodactyl." Aerodactyl said

"Aerodactyl wants to ask you a favor." Meowth translated

"What is it?" Ash asked

"Aerodactyl Aerodactyl Aero." Aerodactyl said

"It says they want to come with us." Meowth translated

"Why's that?" Serena asked

"Kabu Kabu Kabutops." The first Kabutops explained

"Oma Omastar." The first Omastar explained

"They said they've been sleeping in this joint for too long, & they want to leave the nest & explore the outside world. They want to experience what things are like nowadays." Meowth translated

"Then we should definitely take them." Ash said

"Yeah." The others agreed

So Ash caught the first Omastar & Kabutops with Great Balls & Aerodactyl with an Ultra Ball, Gary caught the first Kabuto, Leaf caught the first Omanyte, Serena caught the second Omanyte, & Brock caught the last Kabuto, Omanyte, Kabutops, & Omastar.

"Whew, I'm glad we got out of there." Meowth said

"I don't know about you guys, but it's about time I leave." Gary said

"Me too." Leaf said

"Are you sure." Ash asked

"Yeah, I may not have gotten the Aerodactylite but at least I got a Kabuto." Gary said before leaving "See ya later."

"Bye." Leaf said waving goodbye before leaving

"We better report this to Officer Jenny." Ash suggested

"Right." Brock & Serena agreed

The gang reported to Officer Jenny & told her what happened. Ash used his psychic powers to transfer his memories to Jenny's as proof. Jenny gathered up everyone in Grampa Canyon to make her announcement

"Everyone, under dangerous circumstances, digging for fossils in Grampa Canyon is now forbidden." Jenny announced

After that, the gang left Grampa Canyon with some newly captured Pokémon, a new Mega Stone, & an Egg, the journey continues
