Introduction: Bloodshed at Sea.

Yeah I made another Ruby Gillman story. I couldn't help it because this idea wouldn't leave my head when I began to think of other giant sea monsters. Then I thought back to a song by Peyton Parrish named Jörmungandr. You know, the world serpent of Norse mythology? Only in this story, I'm putting my own spin on it.

In short, this story was spawned from an idea I had after listening to the song for awhile.

I'm gonna try my best to make some differences so it's not an exact copy of my first Ruby Gillman story: "Ruby Gillman and the Teenage Sea Monster."

I'd also like to thank DemonicDeku1 for being such big help with this chapter.

Anyways, enjoy the introduction!

...

Somewhere far out at sea, trouble is brewing beneath the waves. Within the deep blue expanse of water, we see a school of fish swimming about without a care. That is until the fish get spooked when something quickly swims by like a bullet. Seconds later, four more follow behind.

We soon get a good look at what, or who, is swimming so fast. A woman with caucasian skin, long black hair, red colored irises, and her lower half where she should have legs is replaced with silver scales, and a fish-like fin at the end.

She is a mermaid.

In her arms, she's carrying something tightly yet gently for dear life, and it's wrapped up in a fabric as she holds it close. In fact, it's the very reason why she's being chased.

Who's chasing her? More mermaids, and she's desperately trying not to get caught.

She then navigated through rocks and corals to get them to split up.

The four lose sight of her, so the mermaids traverse different paths in order to find her.

"Find her!" The leading mermaid ordered.

The runaway mermaid continued to swim for her life in order to keep her precious cargo safe, and out of their clutches...

... out of her clutches.

She swam faster.

Yet she suddenly stops when she hears something swim by. She looks around with wide eyes filled with fear, but sees nothing. When she turns around, she's met with a spear pointing at her face, and she gasps in fright.

"You traitor!" The leading mermaid shouted angrily.

"No, please! Stay away! Stay away!" The runaway begged.

"I'll kill you for this!"

"You don't understand, please! He's just a baby! MY baby!"

"He's a living weapon."

"No he's not! She wants to make him into one, and you know it!"

"Of course I know that, you idiot! Which is why she wants him back, and wants you DEAD!"

Yes, the thing the runaway mermaid has been carrying in her arms is in fact her baby. But why would this baby be a possible threat? You'll have to see.

The other mermaids began to converge, and surround her on all sides. Each holding a spear towards her, and the baby in her arms began to cry.

"Please! Stop! Don't do this!" The runaway mermaid pleaded.

"Time to die, traitor." The leading mermaid stated.

Suddenly, a shadow looms over them group, and they look up to see a ship... a scarily familiar ship.

"Oh no..." the leader said with dread.

"It's the Flying Dutchman!" The second mermaid exclaimed fearfully.

Seeing them distracted, the traitorous mermaid took off towards the surface of the water like a dart, and the others took notice.

"No!" The leader protested angrily.

The runaway traitor rockets to the surface of the sea, and managed to breach high enough into the air to grab a hold of the wooden railing of the ship with one arm. Her other arm is still holding her baby. Her mermaid tail had morphed into grey jeans with bare feet.

She hoists herself up with her crying child, and are now on the deck of the ship known as the Flying Dutchman. The mermaid pants from exhaustion, yet she's met with a broadsword pointing at her face.

She gasps in shock.

Standing before her, wielding the broadsword, is the notorious captain of this ship. A male kraken with a crab leg, and a crab claw as working prosthetic limbs... Davy Jones, Captain of the Flying Dutchman.

"Alright, lass. You better have a good reason why I shouldn't toss your accursed siren ass back into the drink, or worse, skin you where you stand." Davy Jones threatened.

The mermaid wasted no time in explaining why she's on the boat.

"Please take the baby, they'll kill me but they want to use him for their own purposes, and I can't let it happen!" She begged with tears glistening in her eyes.

Davy Jones became confused.

"What? Why would they want a mere child?" The kraken Captain questioned.

The traitor gently uncovers her baby's face, and what the sea captain saw had left him shocked.

"That's... impossible." He said softly.

He then looks back at the frightened mermaid.

"What are your names?" He asked.

"His name is Morgan. I'm Carmine. Please, don't let them take him! I'm begging you!" The runaway mermaid, now known as Carmine, begged fearfully.

The kraken sea captain looked into her eyes. He saw no deceit, or any ill intentions. Just fear. The kind of fear a mother has when protecting their child. He couldn't believe he was gonna say this, but...

"... Welcome aboard the Flying Dutchman." He said.

He placed his sword in his crab claw, and offers her his right hand. She hesitantly reaches for it, but she stops when she sees two of the mermaids crawling up the other side of the ship.

"Oh no..." She said fearfully.

Davy Jones turns around, and scowls at the two other mermaids who would dare to climb aboard his ship with spears in their hands.

"You picked the wrong ship to board, sirens." Davy Jones declared with a warning tone.

"We're not here for you, Jones. We just want the traitor, and our queen's prize, then we'll be on our way." Said the second mermaid.

"Out of the question I'm afraid." Davy Jones stated firmly.

"We're not leaving without them. So I suggest you hand them over before you get hurt." The lead mermaid threatened.

"You come aboard my ship, and then have the gall to make demands of me? ME?!" The kraken sea captain questioned angrily, not taking kindly to being threatened.

While Davy and Carmine are distracted, the other two mermaids can be seen silently climbing up the side of the ship with Carmine's, and Davy's backs to them. Each holding a spear in their mouth. The one closest to Carmine grabs hold of her spear, and has a clear shot to impale her from between one of the openings of the railing. Just as she reals the spear back, she's suddenly shot in the head, and falls back into the water.

The gunshot scares Carmine, and sees the other mermaid still holding the railing while the other falls dead into the water. She sees that it was Davy Jones who shot her.

"No one can stop me at my best." Davy stated.

"Oh my god, he killed Kimmy!!!" The third mermaid exclaimed in shock, and disbelief.

"You bastard!!!" The second mermaid exclaimed angrily.

"GET THEM!!!" The leader ordered.

Davy places his flintlock pistol back into its holster, and arms his sword back into his right hand.

"Carmine! Barricade yourself in the Captain's quarters!" Jones ordered.

"Ok!" Carmine said.

Carmine rushed to his quarters, and Davy Jones stood guard of the door with his sword drawn as the three mermaids have their spears ready to kill.

"You just had to make this more difficult than it had to be, didn't you, Jones?! We could've all have walked away if you had just given us the traitor, and the child! But then you had to kill one of our own! Now it's your head that joins the chopping block with her!" The leading mermaid declared.

"I know one thing for sure, I have a soft spot for children, and no one gets to use or harm them for any reason." Davy Jones said firmly with a hardened gaze.

The leader glared at him before smirking. She then unleashed a loud sonic shriek that made Davy Jones cover his ears.

Once it stopped, Davy Jones sees the three just standing there with smirks.

"Tell me you didn't do what I think you did." Said Davy Jones, a hint of dread mixed with annoyance in his tone.

The three smile, showing their now sharpened teeth. That's when more mermaids began to climb up over the sides of the ship. Some are armed with spears, others are armed with swords.

"Of course you did..." he grumbled.

Jones put the tips of his crab claw in his mouth, and gave a loud whistle.

"ARM YOURSELVES, YA SEADOGS!!! FOR WE'VE BEEN BOARDED!!!" Davy Jones declared loudly.

That's when his crew of kraken began rush up on deck with a war cry, brandishing swords to face the mermaid threat upon the ship.

"U-Uh." The lead mermaid was uncertain of the outcome for a moment.

"ATTACK!!!" Jones ordered.

They all charge. Swords, and spears clashed as both sides fought. Blood on both sides began to spill as some become injured, or fatally wounded. Davy Jones himself is fending off against the three mermaids who first came aboard his ship.

Davy Jones had his sword ready for each of them, just daring one of them to make the first move.

"Come and face me!" Davy Jones dared.

"It would help if you dropped your sword!" Said the leader.

"A real shame that I don't plan to!" Jones quipped.

The three attacked with their spears, but Davy Jones blocked them with his sword with swift precision. When one of them came at him from behind, he grabbed hold of it with his crab claw, and stabbed her in the chest with his sword.

"AGHH!!!"

She collapses onto the deck, fatally wounded. Davy Jones now faces the last two of the group that chased Carmine.

"Come on! Show me a real challenge!" Said Davy Jones, daring them to try.

The leader then unleashed her shrill shriek, and it was soon followed by the other unleashing her shrill shriek.

"Agh!!!"

Jones dropped the spear he held, but still held onto his sword as he stumbled back while trying to cover his left ear with his claw. While distracted, the leader walked around him as he struggles to fight back, and the leader began to break down the double doors.

The loud screams gave the other mermaids an idea, and they too began to unleash loud shrill shrieks. The combined attack was enough to make the kraken crew hold their ears as they dropped to their knees, and yelled in pain. However, this spelled their doom, and the mermaids attacked the krakens while they're down.

Inside the Captain's quarters, Carmine is seen holding onto Morgan as she hid away from the pounding doors, and is trying to calm down her crying baby.

"Shh, shh, shhhhhhh. It'll be okay, baby. It'll be okay. Mommy's here." Carmine said softly.

Back on deck, a storm is brewing overhead, and the mermaids continued their sonic attack. But Davy Jones wasn't gonna go down so easily.

He ignores the pain the best he could, then charged with a yell, and with a swing of his broadsword, he slit the mermaids throat.

Her shrill squeals became choking gargles as she struggles to breath until she collapsed.

A couple more mermaids began to converge on Jones. The krakens that were still alive continued to fight despite now being outnumbered. Davy Jones fought with more ferocity, more determined to either kill them all, or drive them off of his ship.

He's soon drawn out of his thoughts when he here's something break with a loud slam, followed by a woman's scream.

"NO!" He exclaimed in horror.

He tried to rush over, but his path was blocked by more mermaids, and thunder rolled.

Inside the captain's quarters, the leading mermaid has Carmine cornered, and there's nowhere to go but through her.

"End of the line, Carmine. Hand him over, and I'll make it quick." Said the leader.

"No!" Carmine continued to resist.

"You know there's no way out of this! You dug your grave in the sea floor the moment you ran away with that bastard child of yours, and now you have to lie in it! He belongs to the queen now!" The leading mermaid pointed out.

"Kelly, please! Don't do this!" Carmine pleaded fearfully.

"OH SHUT UP ALREADY!!!"

The leading mermaid, now known as Kelly, raises her spear, and impales it into Carmine's heart as she shrieked in horror.

The baby then cried loudly.

Davy Jones soon rushes inside, but stops dead in his tracks at the sight. Laying on the floor wailing loudly is the baby, Morgan. Right next to him is the now lifeless body of his mother, Carmine, bleeding from her chest where she had been impaled, and a small puddle forming. Standing above them with her spear in hand with fresh blood on the spearhead, is Carmine's killer.

A lightning flash from the storm brewing outside shows the shadow of Davy Jones along the wall, Kelly turns around to see the sea captain kraken himself at the door. His form trembles as the rage is about to explode out of him, and he slowly begins to scream in fury.

"AGGHHHHHHHH!!!"

He draws his sword as he dashed towards her with blind fury. We zoom in on Kelly's eyes as they widen in fear, and we see Davy Jones get close with his sword swinging towards her.

The scene turns to black as a metallic shing is heard.

*SHING*

The scene then fades to show rolling ocean waves with a thunderous rainstorm over it, and the title of the story appears before it fades away as music began to play.

The
Jörmungandr
& the
Gillmans.

Once the title had faded away, lyrics of the song began to appear.

🎵 Don't you let the tail out
Don't you let it scream
Don't you let the sky turn to midnight eve

To the tides
Thief in the night
The great serpent stretched afar
Slid through and through
Beast in the dark
The world serpent comes alive

Who comes before me?

You know who I am

You think you can kill me?

Yes and now

Jormungandr, Jormungandr, Jormungandr
Swimming through the venom like
Jormungandr, Jormungandr, Jormungandr
The serpent who covers the sea
Welcome to the nine realms
Destroyer cast away into the seas
Jormungandr, Jormungandr, Jormungandr
The end of the earth is near. 🎵

Lightning flashed as thunder rolled as the storm continued.
