Growing up Oceanside.

I'd like to thank Damien338 for the big help with this chapter.

...

The scene opens up with a view of the ocean with grey clouds up above. The view then pans over to where we see a little town built next to it, and on it. This is the little seaside town known as Oceanside.

Approaching the pier is the wooden pirate ship known as the Flying Dutchman, captained by the kraken known as Davy Jones.

Onlookers watched as the large wooden ship lowered its sails, drop anchor, and get secured to the wharf with rope from the ship's crew... or what's left of the crew.

Afterwards, they lowered a ramp onto the pier, and the onlookers watched as the captain of the boat descended from the ramp. He gave off a sense of authority in his stride, but people couldn't help but stare at him since he looks like an old pirate captain. In his arms is the now orphaned baby, still safely wrapped in a blanket.

"You sure this is a good idea, Captain?" One of his crewmen asked.

"If we stay far enough from open waters, and don't do anything to draw their attention, they won't think twice to look for him here. In the meantime, guard the ship while I'm gone." Said Davy Jones.

"What will you be doing in the meantime, Captain?" Another one of his crewmen asked.

"Buy baby supplies with what little currency I have, and get a human job." Davy answered.

"Aye, Captain." The two crewmen said before their captain made his way into town.

Davy Jones wanders around town looking for a shop that can help him provide for Morgan.

"Hmmm." He hummed in thought.

So far it's a bit of a challenge for him, due to not being familiar with this town. People did give him odd looks due to his appearance, but didn't outright call him out for it, and just assumed he's another human wearing an odd choice of attire. Jones ignored them as he walked with a steady pace.

Eventually he found a store that looked like it might possibly have what he's looking for.

"Here we are."

Davy Jones walked inside, and began to look around to find what he's looking for after grabbing a basket.

While browsing through the baby necessities, something, or someone, gets his attention.

"Jones?"

Davy Jones recognized that voice, and turned to face the owner of the voice. It's another kraken, but with blue skin, a mustache and beard, glasses, overalls, boots, a striped sweater, and an orange beanie. Despite his human clothing, Jones recognized this kraken.

"Arthur?" Davy Jones questioned in disbelief.

Davy Jones is shocked to find one of his former shipmates is here of all places. He hasn't seen him since he left the kraken kingdom with his wife.

"Oh sweet seashells, you're here! It's so good to see you after so long." Arthur said with glee.

"Wait... why are you here?" He questioned.

"I should be asking you that." said Davy Jones.

"It's my wife's personal reasons." Said Arthur.

"Figures." Said Davy Jones.

Arthur then took notice of what his former ship captain is holding in his arms.

"What's that?" He asked.

"The reason why I'm here." Davy Jones answered.

Something within the wrapped blanket noticeably moved, and it didn't take a genius to put the pieces together. Especially since the two of them are in the baby section of the store.

"*GAAAAAAAAASP* Is that a baby?!" Arthur gasped dramatically.

"Yes."

"What baby is it?" Arthur asked curiously.

It's a legitimate question, considering that the baby could be another kraken or a human he adopted.

Davy Jones looked around in case anyone was eavesdropping before he answered.

"I can't say it out loud. You never know who could be listening." Davy Jones said in a whisper.

"Oh." Said Arthur.

"Let's just say it became a blood bath on my ship because of him. Now I gotta feed him, bathe him, and keep him safe. On top of that, I gotta find work, and I don't even know what I'm doing!" Davy Jones ranted in frustration, having never raised a child before.

"Calm down, we can figure this out." Arthur said, getting his former ship captain to calm down.

Davy Jones took a deep breath to calm down. He had recently gone through hell and back out at sea, and he now has to raise a child.

"I really hope so, Arthur. Too much has happened before I arrived." Davy Jones said somberly.

"Well, if you're not to busy, maybe you can stop by my place, and we can talk about it?" Arthur suggested.

"Hmmm... perhaps. But first, I need to get what I came here for, and that's necessities for Morgan." Said Davy Jones.

"Well I can help with that. It's what I'm here for too." Said Arthur.

"Thank you, Arthur."

"You're welcome."

...

Later, we see the two krakens arrive at a household that Arthur lives in with his wife, and baby girl. He unlocks the door with his keys, and enters with Jones following from behind.

"Aggie, I'm home!" Arthur called out happily.

On the couch in the living room sat his wife, Agatha Gillman, her hair tentacles in a ponytail, and she's reading a book.

"Oh hey babe, how was your day?" Agatha asked.

"Pretty good. Oh, and I ran into an old friend."

"Oh really? Who?"

Arthur steps aside to reveal Davy Jones.

"It's my old ship captain." Said Arthur.

"Davy Jones?!" Agatha gasped in shock.

Davy Jones gave a blank look, and arched an eyebrow.

"Were you expecting your mother?" He quipped.

Agatha gives Arthur a stern expression.

"Arthur, you better explain yourself." Agatha demanded.

"Well, you see-"

He's then interrupted by the sound of a baby crying from upstairs.

*Aheh, aheh, aheh, aheh, aheh! Waaaaaaah!*

"The baby's awake. Just a second." Said Agatha.

She then points a finger at Jones, warning him not to go anywhere.

"You, don't go anywhere." She said sternly.

"Hm..." Jones merely grunted, but didn't argue.

Agatha went upstairs to check on her crying baby, leaving the two downstairs.

"Well isn't she charming today?" Davy said sarcastically.

"Don't take it personally. One of the reasons she moved here is to get away from anything that could lead to... Uhh... traumatic events." Arthur explained.

"I see." Jones said.

"Please, have a seat. Would you like anything to drink or snack on?" Arthur asked.

"I'm fine, thank you." Said Jones.

"Ok. Just a second."

Arthur went into the kitchen to get himself a glass of water as Davy took a seat on the couch. Arthur returned a moment afterwards, and Agatha came downstairs with their fussing baby girl in her arms.

"Ruby's just hungry." Said Agatha, trying to soothe her baby girl.

"I'll get her bottle." Said Arthur.

Arthur sets his glass of water down to get the baby bottle, and now it's Agatha with her baby, and Davy with his baby.

"Is that a baby in your hand?" Agatha asked, sounding surprised.

"Yes." Jones said bluntly.

"What the hell...?" Agatha muttered.

She didn't expect Davy Jones to show up, or even have a baby with him.

Arthur then came back into the living room, and handed Agatha the baby bottle.

"Thanks, Arthur." Agatha thanked her husband before turning her attention to her hungry baby.

"Here you go, Ruby." Agatha said in a cooing voice.

She then feeds her baby the milk that's in the bottle. Her hungry baby suckling on the bottle's nipple.

"So, Jones, what's the story between you, and the baby?" Arthur asked.

...

After explaining, the kraken family was shocked to say the least.

"Good god, the poor thing." Agatha said sadly in sympathy for the orphaned baby in Jones' arms.

"That's horrible! Mermaid or not, she was just protecting her baby!" Arthur exclaimed in shock.

"I know... and I showed the others no mercy for what they've done." Jones said with bitterness towards the mermaids who were sent to kill Carmine.

"I still don't get it. He's only a baby. What could they possibly want from him?" Agatha asked.

"See for yourself." Said Davy Jones.

Davy carefully, and gently unwrapped the blanket to show baby Morgan's face to them... the appearance of them had left them breathless in shock.

What they saw is a baby covered in smooth light blue scales with a reptilian yet cute appearance, grey scales on his underbelly, and is suckling on his tail where the beginning of the vertical fish-like neon green fin begins.

"He's a... he's a-!" Agatha tried to say, but was too shocked to say it.

"I know." Said Davy.

"His mother is a mermaid gone rogue, and his father must be... one of those." Arthur said, but too shocked to utter a word of what the baby's father is.

"Yes, and I hope this baby can grow to be stronger than the mermaids that will attack him." Jones said with determination.

"You're not gonna just use him when he's older, are you?" Agatha asked in concern.

"Bah! Of course not! If anything, I'll prep him when he's older so he'll be able to face what may come." Jones explained.

"Oh. Alright." Said Agatha.

Once Ruby was finished, Arthur handed his wife a wash cloth. She placed it on her shoulder, and she patted her baby's back to burp her.

*burp*

"Hehe, aww." Arthur cooed at his baby girl for being adorable.

"Well, it was a nice chat, but I gotta raise a kid on the ship." Jones said, about to get up, and leave.

"What? You can't raise a baby on your ship." Agatha said with worry, since the Flying Dutchman is no place to raise a baby.

"What do you expect me to do? I can't exactly buy a house. Especially without a job." Jones pointed.

"... Oh." Said Agatha, realizing he's got a point.

"Well, we can help you with that. We can give you childcare advice, and even babysit little Morgan while you're busy. Right, Agatha?" Arthur suggested.

"Actually yeah, we can definitely do that. But I work the rest of the week, so you'll be on your own for most of the time." Said Agatha.

"I can handle it. Ain't that right, Ruby?" Said Arthur.

He tickles her tummy, making her giggle.

"Haha!"

"Did you get him everything a baby needs?" Agatha asked.

"Baby food, clothes, bottles, a crib, and diapers... though I'm not sure how that'll work when he has no legs." Said Davy Jones.

The two krakens notice something about Morgan, and their eyes go wide.

"Uh, Jones?" Agatha questioned.

"What?" Davy asked.

"Morgan's losing his scales." Agatha pointed out.

"Wait what?"

He looks down at Morgan's chubby baby arm, and sees that he's technically not losing his scales, but rather they're becoming caucasian human skin. He uncovers Morgan's face, and sees that his oval shaped reptilian face is now the face of a human baby.

"Oh, I see. Must be his mermaid half doing that." Jones realized.

"Wow...amazing." Agatha said with amazement.

The baby began to start crying.

"Oh boy..." Jones groaned.

"Does he need changing?" Arthur asked.

Davy smelled the crying baby, and didn't smell anything bad. He checked the blanket he was wrapped in, and still nothing.

"No." Said Davy.

"Has he been fed yet?" Agatha asked.

"No." Jones said.

"Then feed him." Said Agatha.

"Do I just fill the bottle with milk from a carton?" Jones asked.

"No no no, just use formula." Said Arthur.

"We'll show you." Said Agatha.

Ruby began reaching her baby arms for her dad.

"Here, Arthur, she wants you to hold her." Said Agatha.

"Ok. Come here, princess." Said Arthur.

Agatha hands Ruby over to Arthur, and she takes Jones into the kitchen to prepare some formula for the crying Morgan.

... Five years later...

We now see a five year old Morgan, who has grown black hair like his mother, but his eye color is a silvery grey.

It's a weekend, and we see that he's having play date with a five year old Ruby Gillman. The two are drawing with crayons, with Ruby drawing a whale, and Morgan drawing his Dad's ship. Their play dates are a common occurrence because Ruby's mom, and Morgan's dad have jobs. Agatha working real estate, and Davy working as a tour guy with his ship.

"Nice drawing ruby." Said Morgan.

"Thanks! Is that a drawing of your dad's ship?" Ruby asked.

"Yep." Morgan confirmed.

"I like it." Said Ruby.

"Thanks."

Arthur then appears from the kitchen with a plate of apple slices.

"Who wants apple slices?" He asked.

"Me!" Both kids exclaimed happily.

He sets the plate down, and the two kids began to enjoy eating the apple slices.

The front door unlocked, and Agatha walks in, her hair tentacles now in a bun.

"I'm home!" She calls out.

"Mommy!" Ruby says joyfully before she rushes over, and hugs her mother's legs.

"Hi baby." Said Agatha.

She then picks up her daughter after closing the door.

"Hi Mrs. Gillman." Morgan greeted.

"Hey Morgan." Agatha greeted back.

"Hey, honey. How was your day? Sell anymore houses?" Arthur asked.

"Yep, and my day was great." Said Agatha.

Ruby then shows her the whale she drew.

"Look, Mommy, I made a whale!" She says happily.

"Wow, I love it!" Said Agatha.

"I made my dad's boat!" Morgan said, showing her his drawing.

"Not bad, that's really good!" Said Agatha.

"Thank you. Do you know when my dad's done with work today?" Morgan asked.

"I don't know, hun. He said he was really busy today." Said Agatha.

"Oh." Morgan said in disappointment.

"Well, at least you get to play with Ruby a bit longer." Agatha reassured.

"Yay!" Both kids cheer happily.

Morgan stuck around right around dinner time. After dinner, the two kids snacked on some cookies Agatha made. The two sat on the couch watching cartoons, then the doorbell rang.

"I got it." Said Arthur, walking to the door.

He then open the door, and standing at the door is Morgan's dad, Davy Jones.

"Dad!" Morgan calls out happily.

"Ahahaha! Hey, lad!" Davy Jones greeted with a chuckle.

Morgan ran to him and hug him, and Davy returned the hug.

"Sorry I took so long. Gordon had me work overtime due to being booked with too many tourists." Jones explained.

"It's ok, Dad." Said Morgan, just happy that his dad didn't take too long.

"Honestly, I don't understand why you're still working with that screw loose sailer. Why not start your own tour business with that ship of yours?" Agatha questioned.

"Oh believe me, I've thought of it. But it's not as easy as it looks. With time I'll get around to that. Anyways, has Morgan eaten dinner while I was gone?" Jones explained before asking if his adopted son has eaten dinner.

"Oh of course." Agatha reassured him.

"Good. So, Morgan, did you have fun with Ruby?" Jones asked his son.

"Yes!" Morgan said happily.

"That's good." Said Jones.

"I also made a picture of your boat!" Morgan said happily, showing him the picture he drew.

"That's fantastic! Very good. Now say goodbye, Morgan, we're gonna be heading home." Jones said.

"Bye." Morgan said, waving goodbye to his friend.

"Bye, Morgan!" Said Ruby, waving goodbye.

With that said, Davy Jones left with Morgan, and drove off to their home. Which is a house Agatha was able to sell to Davy for a good price.

Speaking of Agatha, Morgan began to think. Ruby has both a mom, and a dad, but he only has his dad. So he decided to ask his dad a question.

"Dad, did I have a mom?" Morgan asked curiously.

The question threw Davy off guard. He hasn't expected Morgan to ask him that.

"Well, y-yes. You did." Said Jones, a little hesitant with the subject.

"What happened to her?" Morgan asked.

"She..."

Jones hesitated to tell him. Morgan was only five, so he's not sure how he'll handle this.

"She kept you safe... from very bad people... that's all you need to know for now. You'll understand when you're older." Davy explained, but not giving the full details.

"Oh...ok."

Morgan was disappointed, but didn't press further. Davy Jones sighed sadly at the memory of what happened to his mother. Sure he only knew her for an incredibly short amount of time, but it still stung because that was the mother of the boy he's raising. His son.

Jones continued to drive until he, and Morgan got back home. The screen fades to black.

... Ten years later...

Lightning flashes as we see the Flying Dutchman out at sea in the middle of a storm. The rain poured, lightning flashed, thunder rolled, and the waves rocked the ship.

Speaking of the ship, we see that it's actually under attack by giant sea lampreys! The crew of the ship can be seen scrambling to fight them off.

On board are two members of the original crew, both are kraken, while the rest of them are rather somewhat new in comparison by a couple of years.

One of them is a short anthropomorphic brown furred raccoon wearing a moss green raincoat along with a white and blue trucker hat that says "I'm eggscellent" on the front.

He's currently screaming his head off in terror while bashing one of the man-sized lampreys with a broom.

"AHHHH!!!"

Another is a short, but still taller than the raccoon, pudgy, green skinned man with medium length hair. He's wearing a fisherman's vest with a fishing hat that has fishhooks in it.

He's currently screaming in terror while wielding a freaking barrel over his head... and his screaming sounds more like a squealing scream or something.

"LEAVE ME ALONE!!!" The raccoon screamed at the lamprey.

[There should be a GIF or video here. Update the app now to see it.]

"EeEeEeEeEeEeEeAaAaAaAaAaAaH!!!" The green guy squealed in terror.

"Get a grip on yourselves, lads!" One of the original kraken shipmates exclaimed over the storm.

"You don't see her complaining!" The second of the original kraken shipmates exclaimed.

The third shipmate that's not a kraken is a fish woman with blue skin, long red hair in a ponytail, ear fins, sharp teeth, red upper eyelids that make it look like she's wearing red eye shadow, wears an eyepatch over her left eye, a black tank top, blue jeans, and red boots. Said fish woman is also wielding a spear, and is going to town from stabbing one of the lampreys like a maniac.

"NYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!" She yelled out.

She then kicked it off the ship.

"Excuse us if we don't have the genes of a maniac!" The raccoon spat.

Another lamprey comes up from behind, giving a gargling hiss, and is about to lunge its sharp toothed suction cup mouth onto him.

"AHHHH!!!" The raccoon screamed in terror.

However, its soon decapitated with a swing from a broadsword. The sea creature falls over dead to reveal Captain Davy Jones.

"Be aware of your surroundings, lad!" Davy Jones declared.

Then the lamprey the raccoon was bashing with a broom was soon impaled by the fish woman's spear.

"AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I love fishing day!!!" She declared happily with a psychotic sharp toothed smile.

The green guy managed to pulverize the lamprey he was facing off against with the barrel he was carrying.

"WHY ARE THEY STILL COMING, BRO?!" The green questioned.

"I don't know! Where the hell is Morgan?!" Davy Jones demanded.

A giant lamprey falls dead from up above, and he looks up to see someone swinging down from a rope.

"INCOMIIIIIIING!!!" The person on the rope declared loudly.

This person then swung, and dropkick the lamprey off the ship before he swung back around, then landed in front of davy.

"Atta boy, Morgan!" Jones cheered.

Yeah, that's morgan, now 15 years old standing in front of his father.

He's pretty tall for his age, almost as tall as his dad. He wears dark blue jeans, black shoes with green highlights, a celadon blue jacket with a green collar, two green rectangular stripes on the upper arm on each sleeve, and a green edge on the bottom of the jacket. He also wears a dark grey t-shirt underneath, and he wears a fishing themed cap hat that's light grey and green. It's light grey in the front, green in the back, and the lip of the cap is also green. Finally, the front of the hat has a design of two black fishing hooks crossing each other.

"I did say I wanted to catch a big fish, but this is ridiculous!" Morgan said loud enough above the storm.

"I'll say, lad. You got your blade?" Jones asked.

"Always." Morgan said, and then took his blade out.

It's also a broadsword, similar to his dad's.

"Great! NOW LET'S SEND THESE PARASITES BACK INTO THE ABYSS THEY CAME FROM!!!" Davy Jones declared loudly to rally his shipmates.

"YEAH YEAH!!!" The crew shouted together.

The raccoon grabbed something that was actually useful in a fight against these vicious lampreys, and it's a pair of knives. The green guy finds a spear gun, as well as spears to load it.

"Woooooo!!! I'm armed and dangerous!!!" The green guy announces, now feeling pumped for the fight.

The whole crew was slowly starting to make the giant lamprey numbers dwindle. They hacked, slashed, and bashed the ravenous sea creatures, overpowering them.

... After awhile later...

The Flying Dutchman can be seen arriving back at Oceanside. The crew finally relaxing after the whole ordeal against the man sized killer lampreys, and had stored the dead ones that were still intact enough in coolers, while the rest that are too brutalized were sent back into the ocean.

"What a catch." Morgan said.

"Not the 'big fish' we were expecting, but these giant sucker faces could give us a good price." Jones said.

"Good." Said Morgan.

Once the ship reaches the pier, the crew secures it after dropping anchor. They then lower the ramp, and began carrying the coolers down one at a time.

Morgan and the green guy carry the last cooler down.

Careful with this one. It's got the biggest of the other lampreys." Morgan warned.

"No prob, bro." The green guy reassured.

As soon as they set the last cooler down, a smaller boat, a tour boat to be exact, arrives on the other side of the dock, and it belongs to who people call a crazy sea captain. Gordon Lighthouse.

He wears a navy blue sailor uniform with a sailor hat, he also has a left peg leg, caucasian skin, a big bulbous pinkish nose, a white beard and mustache, and pet crab named Davy (coincidentally named before he met Davy Jones).

"Well well, Jones. Finally given up on the tour business, and switch to fishing?" Gordon questioned in a mocking tone.

Long story short, ever since Davy Jones opened up his own tour business, he's become a rival to his former boss ten years ago, and they've been trying to outdo each other ever since.

"Ugh. Lighthouse. For your information, it's one of my days off, which I used to spend quality time with my boy and crew by fishing." Said Jones.

"And these fish nearly snagged us." Morgan pointed out.

"And they put the 'monster' in your sea monster hunts." Jones jabbed.

"That's right." Said Morgan.

"Oh please, you landlubbers couldn't catch a sea monster even with a fishing trawler." Gordon spat, not believing them.

The fish woman popped open one of the coolers, and held up one of the giant lampreys with a confident smirk.

Gordon's eyes go wide, and his jaw drops. Even his pet crab, Davy, was surprised, and it amazed the tourists on his tour bus boat.

Morgan flipped off the old sea captain with a middle finger just to add salt to the wound.

"You couldn't even catch anything with your bare hands!" Jones declared with confidence.

"But we did!" The green guy mocked with a smirk.

"Ooooooooooooooooooh!" The raccoon cheered.

Gordon grumbled to himself in anger as he drove his tour bus boat away, and the tourists took pictures of their catch.

"Haha, take it!" Morgan chuckled.

"Crazy old coot." Davy Jones spat.

"But aren't you old?" The raccoon asked.

"I may be old, but I'm not crazy. I swear, when I was working under him, he took every opportunity on every tour he did to talk about krakens. It's just kraken this, and kraken that with that guy." Jones ranted.

"But aren't you, and those two guys-?" The green guy was about to say.

"AH AH! Not out loud." Jones interrupted, not wanting him to say it out loud for anyone that could be eavesdropping.

"Secret." Morgan said simply.

"Oh right. Gotcha bro." Said the green guy.

"Good." Said Morgan.

He then smelled something that smelled fishy, and it wasn't the just the lampreys. He sniffs himself, and gags.

"Agh! Man I reek of giant lamprey now." Morgan gagged.

"Someone afraid of smelling bad in front of their girlfriend~?" Said the fish woman, who couldn't help but tease him.

"Don't you dare start again, Undyne! Ruby is not my girlfriend! We're just childhood friends." Morgan said defensively, annoyed by her usual familiar teasing about his friendship with Ruby Gillman.

"Riiiiiiiight." The fish woman, now known as Undyne, didn't believe him with the tone in her voice as she smirked at him.

"Oh c'mon, leave him alone... if he wants to lie to himself, let him. Ahahahahahahaha!" The raccoon said, getting in on the teasing.

"Ooooooooooh! Rigby's in on it! You know who else likes to lie to themselves?... MY MOM! Ahahahahaha!" The green guy cackled.

"Not helping, Muscle Man." Morgan said in annoyance.

"You know who else isn't helping? YOUR—"

"Dude, SHUT! Your mouth!" Morgan warned, knowing where he was going with that joke.

"What? It was just a-..." Muscle Man stops talking when he sees Davy Jones giving him a death glare to remind him why that's a bad idea to joke about a certain subject.

"Oh... OH. Right. Sorry, bro." Muscle Man said in realization.

He may be an idiot who cracks jokes, but he means well.

"You're alright." Morgan says, having calmed down.

Then a familiar voice called out to him.

"Hey Morgan!"

He sees that it's his childhood best friend, fifteen year old Ruby Gillman.

She wears a green sweater, dark purple boots, grey socks with leggings that have light grey, dark grey, light purple stripes, and purple shorts. She has light blue skin like her parents, ear fins, dark blue hair tentacles that go down to her shoulders, and turquoise green colored irises.

"Oh, hey ruby!" Morgan greeted back as she approached him.

"So how was fishing with your dad?" She asked.

"Oh, uh, it was great! Unless you count getting attacked by giant killer lampreys as great." Said Morgan.

"Oh. So do you wanna hang out sometime afterwards?" Ruby asked.

"Sure! I just need to take a shower before I do. I currently smell like fish guts." Morgan explained.

"Ok, I smell it now. Ugh!" Said Ruby, gagging at the smell.

"Yeah I was afraid of that." Said Morgan.

"Just text me to let me know when you're done, ok?" Said Ruby.

"Can do." Morgan reassured her.

"Ok, see you later!" Ruby said before leaving.

"See you later!" Said Morgan, waving goodbye.

After Ruby left, he could hear Undyne snickering, and looks back to see that smirk on her face.

"'Just childhood friends' eh?" Undyne teased.

"Oh shut up." Morgan said with annoyance.

...

Now you're probably wondering why I added, Rigby, Muscle Man, and Undyne in this. It's because I needed to have Davy Jones have some employees besides the two krakens that stuck around (I'm still thinking of designs and names for them). Also, IT'S BECAUSE I CAN!!!

Anyways, hopefully you all enjoyed this chapter.
