18: Curiosity Kills The Cat (2/2)

Funny how I was about to go home but ended up here, instead.

Glimpsing at the nameplate, a fear and a silent shout of anger bubbled up through my chest.

Kim Jisoo.

The woman who confused me the most in this game of hide and seek. The one who made me feel all sorts of emotions in just minutes. Guilt, confusion, anger, frustration, and all the aggression emotions to ever exist.

I love her. I love my friend but I need real answers this time. I'm tired of this game. I want to end it and be happy with my Tae...

Ringing the bell, I waited as some commotion could be heard from inside. In a minute, the door opened up with a confused Jisoo. She eyed me up and down and smiled a little.

"Hey, what's up?"

"Will you keep me standing here in this weather?" I taunted with a straight face as the clouds thundered.

"Huh? O-Oh no, that wasn't my intention at all. Please come inside, dear."

It broke my heart how she referred to me with those nicknames. Crazy woman, dear... I don't understand why she'd do that. Is she evil like in that fiction and stories? The evil bestie? No, she can't. She is a mature and calm person. I know for sure...

As I entered, I took a seat on the sofa and stared at her, as she too, sat in front of me.

"What went wrong?" I spoke softly.

"Hm? What are you talking about, Miso?" She inquired in bewilderment as she poured me a cup of water.

"Why did you lie to me..." A mere whisper croaked out through my throat as I closed my eyes. It would sound and look dramatic to some people but it wasn't my fault that I was too emotional. Too attached to my friends...

"What lie..." A clueless sound erupted in her chest as she scrutinized me with an even more skeptical expression.

Taking a deep breath, I started,

"You lied to me about pushing that girl named 'Heejin' off the roof. But in reality, it was my very own twin that threw me off the rooftop to get with my boyfriend..." I sighed as I finished. A hopeful look in my eyes as she went into deep thinking.

"You'll end the water at this rate..." I spoke monotonously as she overfilled the cup in her deep thoughts. With a hitch, she shook back into reality as her eyes widened with realization.

"Oh sorry..." Sorry?

What was she referring to? Sorry for overfilling the cup or for lying to me?

"For what?"

"For- For... I-I honestly don't know." She paused as her eyes struck back at the glass table with the deafening silence.

"That means, you indeed did lie to me." A scoff escaped my lips as I smiled bitterly.

"Miso, who told you all this?" She darted her orbs at me and I could see the tiny tears in her eyes. Why, just why Jisoo?

"First, tell me. What all is this about." When I saw an unconvincing countenance in her eyes, I gave up all my courtesy.

"You better speak the shit out or I'm killing myself, Jisoo!" I hissed as my body trembled in furiousness. We were all so funny and cool. How did we end up like this?

"M-Miso... Never say that! You get me?"

I stayed silent.

"Okay, I'll tell you. Your brothers and I kept this a secret from you as we didn't want you to go through the past trauma or fear. But if you're so desperate, then here it is..." She sniffed as she whimpered helplessly.

I patiently waited for her to continue.

"Yes, I lied to you all this time. Taehyung really liked you but your twin was jealous of you, so she did all these shits. But as soon as she jumped too, we lost all hope in claiming her as the killer. We took you both to the hospital. But only you survived; and that also with selective amnesia. She died. We thought it was the best punishment for her and so, we buried the matter deep into our hearts."

My heart rate increased.

"Taehyung disappeared into thin air. We thought it was a good opportunity for you to start a new life, with a new identity. Not as Heejin but as a new you. Miso... The name your mother wanted to give you."

...

"You saw me suffering so bad, yet you kept it a secret, huh?" I muttered, narrowing my glance.

She abruptly banged a fist on the table, growing out her eyeballs from her socket.

"You are the one who gets into all kinds of troubles all the time. It's your curious ass that causes you so many problems. Can you stop being so eager sometimes? Let things happen at their own pace, can you? Let go of things, please... Don't dig up into matters that do not concern you!" She began to breathe heavily as she lunged backward on the couch with a thud.

I remained as silent as the vacuum.

She is kinda right...

But I have the freedom to know the things that concern me, right? It was about me, no one else!

"T-Then why is there a picture of you at Taehyung's place?" I swallowed a lump in my throat when she looked down, rolling her eyes.

"Well, guess what? You now know what you wanted to, isn't it? Don't dig up holes into my mind. Just leave."

"Jisoo? At least tell me what's the relationship between you and Taehyung!" I stood up, feeling an irritation brew up in my heart. Why is she behaving so foreign all of a sudden?

"Yeah! Remember the day you went missing and your father told you that I called him and said that you were staying at my place? Well, I never called him! It was Taehyung who did it!" She scoffed with a small smirk, making my mouth part.

He did it? And... How does she know about it?

She's just changing the topic.

"H-How do you know about it? How do you know so much about Kim Taehyung?! FUCK IT JISOO, I NEED MY DAMN ANSWERS!" I squealed in anger as I threw the cup down to the floor. It rolled down and broke into pieces.

I was doing something I would regret later...

Staring at the broken glass, a tear slipped through her eyes.

"Amazing... Just amazing Miso. Now you're breaking our friendship for a boy? You're misunderstanding me and overreacting for a man? Is that what our friendship was limited to? Get out, please just leave my house."

The actions I committed would later be guilted, but I was not in the position to think. My ferocious side took over my practical mind.

"Great! Fuck you too!"

THUD!

Aaaand, I left her house.

The tears overflowed as I walked aimlessly through the streets full of euphoria. Kids giggling in the rain, people shopping, walking, and cars passing by me, as the water on the grounds vibrated along the droplets falling onto them, giving off a prism-like reflection.

I had just fainted some hours ago due to the cold, yet here I was, moving like a dead animal through the ways, not knowing what to do anymore and what not to. My heart told me to just give up and transfer schools, starting a new life with new friends.

My head was hurting due to the obsolete remorse of being so damn rude to my one and only friend. I guess... I'm a little selfish.

Just as I was about to cross the road, without peeking at the street lights, a loud horn honked its way into my ears as I was standing midway in the road. Flinching, I spun around and saw a truck almost about to hit me.

The very next moment, two hands wrapped around me, pulling and rolling me over the ground, saving me roughly from the attack as the pedestrians passing by gasped.

A yell left my lips when I felt my arm's skin being slightly scraped off due to the metallic road.

"DAMN WOMAN! ARE YOU CRAZY?"

Huh?

Turning around, I saw a familiar boy, shouting at me, his face became redder as time passed by. He had some mud on his chin, as evident due to the sudden rolling on the sticky wet roadway.

"J-Jimin...?" I inhaled a tough breath, as my eyes became plates.

"Miso? God... Goddamn it! What were you trying to do, girl?" He grunted, dusting his already-dampened clothes.

"I-I didn't notice the lights." I cleared my throat as I kept sitting down, feeling a wave of trance gush through me. I was about to die, yet I don't feel any fear of the aftermath.

"Get up." He commanded as I got off, obeying suddenly, caressing my fingers, trying to cleanse them as the rainwater washed over them.

"Are you okay? You seem... distracted." He asked in a rather soft tone. Way different that his friend, Jungkook.

"I'm fine. I think I need to sleep. Nothing else hehe." I faked a smile, displaying my gums but he didn't seem persuaded.

"Your eyes are red and swollen. Did you perhaps cry?" He sighed for the umpteenth time, removing his coat from his shoulders and putting it on me.

It was quite warm, I must appreciate it.

I kept quiet as I had nothing more to say.

Closing his eyes, he began to think while the rain poured harder.

"How about, coming to my house and getting changed? I have my sister's clothes. And, let's have a talk over a hot chocolate. We need to talk about something." He proposed with a smile as his eyes formed crescents.

Talk about something? He does not look evil or something. How about giving it a chance? I'm freezing anyways...

"A-Alright," I spoke as a shiver broke down my spine, feeling the weather get even chillier.

{}

The next thing I knew was walking over to his house which wasn't very far away and getting changed. We sat in the drawing room with two cups of hot chocolate as the heater was switched on, radiating the light warmth that I needed the most.

"So," I started, as the atmosphere turned awkward with only us sitting hushed. Just the droplets knocking over the windows with the howling dark winds of the evening.

"Why were you crying...? If you don't mind me asking, of course." He sipped a little, fixating his eyes on the heater as it burnt the coal.

Just a day and how many people's houses have I gone to?

"That's nothing... Just had a fight with my friend. Now I regret it." I chuckled lowly, trying to comfort myself. I'm happy that I have people who are concerned about me and my matters.

"Oh... Well, you can say sorry. I hope they will understand!" He sounded enthusiastic, lightening the mood.

If Jimin were not friends with Jungkook, then we would've been good friends. I can feel it. But that can't happen now.

"Yeah right." I nodded, understandingly as we sipped again, in the stillness of the day. "By the way, what did you want to talk to me about?" I raised an eyebrow, calmly.

He released a breath as he set the finished cup of chocolate on the table.

"Miso, welcome back. We've missed you."

What...

"I don't get what you mean, Jimin." I blinked continuously, pondering his words once again.

Settling back on the couch, he comfortably spread his legs and crossed his arms, staring with a look of tiredness and an overwhelmed expression.

"Welcome back, Heejin."
