16: The Other Half

Third Person Perspective

THUD!

The thunders made a loud resonating vibration, scattering the rain-showers and droplets throughout the city. People were running to get home while some were enjoying and dancing under the rainy water.

The sky was a completely grey-colored hue of black, with no sign of light seeping through the dark clouds. The clouds grumbled again and again as the shopkeepers closed their shops, hurrying back home, running away from the scary weather as well as the dusk of night.

But, there was one human, expressionless, walking through the twilight of night, not a speck of worry on her face... She kept moving forward, wherever her legs took her. She had no umbrella or shade on her head, wetting her hair and entire body. Her clothes were dampened and translucent by now, due to the humid and moist climate conditions.

Though she didn't care. She was broken. She wanted answers... She wanted the answers to her unknown questions. She wanted to know why this happened to her. She wanted to know what she did, that caused such harsh things to take place against her.

Well, it would be best if she remembered it by herself, but because she didn't have her memories, she couldn't feel anything. She was blank.

...

Stopping in front of his house, she looked at it with her hopeless face. There were a thousand thoughts running through her mind. Should she go knock? No. He might throw her out at this rate. Then shall she keep standing and stare at his house like a creep?

She decided to turn around and walk away but before she could, the door flung open by itself, and there he stood... With an umbrella in his right hand.

He was about to open the umbrella when he noticed her.

Huh?

His forehead creased looking at her, even though he tried showing as minimal expressions as possible.

"What are you doing here, Miso?" He asked curtly, not giving much thought to her shivering state.

Looking at him with her glossy eyes, Miso bit her lip, tightly, containing herself to go and hug him right away. But she just couldn't... Because he thought so wrong of her... And that hurt her.

"I asked you something." He stated, looking at her. There was something wrong with her, indeed. But he couldn't really point out what.

As she walked closer to him, her legs gave up and she fell down, right in front of the pavement of his house.

"Miso? M-MISO! H-Hey wake up! What's wrong with you, why did you faint?" Taehyung hissed, running towards her and putting her head on his lap, shaking her face gently, trying to wake her up, but to no avail...

And that's when he noticed her soaked clothes and freezing body along with a burning head.

...

First Person Perspective.

"It was you..."

No. I know that can't be...

"It was you who pushed the girl from the rooftop..."

Stop with it. It's so bullshitty. Why say such things that are not true?

"Yes, it was you, Miso."

STOP IT! This is all fake. All that you are saying. It's all not the full truth.

"You didn't like her. And so, you were really angry at her for an unknown reason, jumping to conclusions. In the end, you pushed her down, making her lose so much blood that she died."

Stop lying! Your words are lies. Your voice is venom. And you are fake... How could you lie to me like this when I trusted you so much?

"IT WAS YOU MISO! YOU KILLED HER!"

Stop it Jisoo! I hate you! I hate your words! I loathe your betrayal!

"I HATE YOU!" I gasped, breathing heavily when my eyes opened, looking at the unfamiliar surroundings.

Purple curtains...?

My head was covered with a wet cloth.

Droplets of sweat trickled down my form when I remembered the things told to me, a few hours ago.

...

FLASHBACK

"Miso dear, Taehyung killed someone for 'Heejin' and didn't know that the one he killed, had some powers."

Hoseok smirked, looking at the stick of birch in his hands, twirling it.

"Powers? Is that even true!" I scoffed in exasperation. Humans possess powers. Is that even possible?

"Yes. Think of it like this, he was god's favorite, so, he got the powers. Or maybe, Adam's reincarnation?" He chuckled, observing the wood 'wand' in his hands as if he could see the whole world through it.

"Adam's reincarnation? When did it all happen?"

"He cursed Taehyung with the curse that the first person in his mind would be bonded to him for a lifetime." He ignored my words, spilling his thoughts. "And the only person in his mind at that point of time was Heejin. Which is why he got bonded to her."

"W-What."

"Hm."

"He got some powers too. But he couldn't really understand what those powers were until Heejin died." Hoseok moved toward the water filter, filling a cup of water.

"She died. How...?" I asked, unsure.

"She was in an accident."

"Leave that." He smiled eerily. "Let's not remember what happened 200 years ago, yeah?"

"200 YEARS AGO? WHAT DO YOU MEAN?!"

"When she died, Taehyung was shattered. But then he noticed some changes in his body. He didn't grow up. It was like his age got stuck on 18." Hoseok huffed, taking a sip from his paper cup of water.

My eyes widened and I said the impossible.

"He became-

"Immortal." He finished my words.

"Yes, he did become immortal. Along with this, he discovered some powers within him. The powers were dormant when Heejin was alive, but they became active once she died. He possessed the powers of hypnotism, levitation, and much more. He also became aggressive and to overcome his state of aggression, he started killing people. He started murdering people in the dawn of morning and the dusk of midnight."

My breath hitched hearing his words. I did expect to hear something like that about Taehyung but I didn't know that he owned powers, which made it surreal for me to believe.

And immortal... This feels like a spiral of dreams, spinning and sucking me deep into its mess.

"And then, Heejin came back."

Huh?

Wasn't she dead?

"Rebirth is a thing, Miso dear." Hoseok chuckled darkly as if hearing my inner thoughts. I didn't dare question him about it anymore.

I wish I could trust him, but I still doubt him and his words. What if this all is just an illusion? A trick made by my mind into forcing me to believe that I am the main character of this story when I'm... not.

"She came back after a very long time. She was a really good person. Made many friends. Many were jealous of her but she brushed it off, thinking of it as life."

"Taehyung was shocked to know that she was reborn. Because he was immortal, he was the same age as her when she was 18. He fell in love with her once again and the same happened to her." He continued. I just kept listening in silence.

"When she came back, Taehyung became mortal again. But his powers didn't go inactive and he learned to control them. He stopped killing people. He became happy, thinking that she was finally back and his peace was now restored."

"Oh." I nodded in a trance. To be honest, I felt a little jealous of 'Heejin'. She was so lucky to have someone like Taehyung. He was loyal and most importantly, never fell for someone, even when she died...

"Ever heard of the saying, 'storm after the silence'? That's what happened. She died again. This time it was a murder. Someone pushed her from their school's rooftop." He grinned like a crazy man, emphasizing the word 'Someone'.

"And that's when Taehyung became immortal again and started to kill everyone as the 'Joker' to calm down his anger and sorrow of losing his girlfriend. That's when he understood that he could never be free of this curse until he died along with his girlfriend, Heejin. Or else, he would never die."

My mind went directly to the time Jisoo told me I pushed Heejin and she...

"But this time, a lot of misunderstanding was made. It's still a confusion about who really pushed her, though I know who it was." He spewed, eyeing me up and down.

My body became hot due to nervousness when he looked at me like that, but I decided to accept it, shamingly.

"I did that. I pushed her." I faced, feeling the lump in my throat. Guilt was what I felt, even when I knew that I would never do such a thing...

"Hm? You?"

"Y-Yes."

................

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Hoseok fell down on the floor and started laughing loudly like a psycho. He was continuously clapping his hands loudly as if he heard the joke of the day.

"W-What. Stop being like that. Y-You're scaring me." I whimpered in fear at his weird actions.

"Y-You killed her?" He tried speaking through his violent laughing. "Who said that to you?"

"I-I just know."

"Do you remember your memories?"

My gaze ended up on the floor.

"Then? Just because someone said that to you, you will believe the person? Hah... Will you believe me if I say that 2+2=5?" He laughed again. Like a psycho.

All of a sudden, he held my shoulders and made me flinch with the sudden contact of his freezing fingers.

"Your so-called friend lied to you."

J-Jisoo lied...?

"Miso... You were pushed that day. Don't you find some similarity between what I'm telling you and what you went through?"

...

"You are Heejin."

What...

My heart dropped to my stomach.

How is that possible?

"And, Taehyung thinks that you pushed Heejin that day. Which is why he hates you and wants revenge."

Huh?

Tears dropped out of my eyes with a sudden pain in my heart.

"I-If I'm Heejin, then why does he hate me...?" I still didn't believe I was Heejin, ofcourse. But I still needed answers, so I pretended to trust him.

If not for me, then for Taehyung...

"You had a twin. She liked Taehyung. And because you, that is Heejin who liked him too, she pushed you, deciding to kill you. But she didn't know that he was bonded to you. And not to her."

He chuckled when I fell down on the floor.

It was too hard for me to digest what he just said.

A t-twin...? What the fuck. If I knew a twin, then I would have remembered her! I just forgot my old school's memories! Not my family.

And, where is she now...?

"I don't believe you." I gulped. He was making up a story for sure, but then, why did it sound so real?

"Remember the dream where you were pushed by YOU yourself?"

Oh wait...

No... No damn way!

My mouth parted and that was enough. Enough for me to be shocked. Enough for me to cry out hard.

"She died too, that day. Along with you, though she didn't know that she was the one who died, and you survived.  But before that, the ring you wore, she took it off and wore it instead, so that when you die, she can have Taehyung to herself and show that she is Heejin as she had the ring, an ornament of your identity."

"T-Then, how and why did she die?" My body was now giving up on me. I was so sad and emotional to know that the boy I love, was once in love with me too. But now he hates me because of a misunderstanding. And because of a fucking twin who ruined my life.

Wait.

If she's my twin, then does that mean my father and brother knew about her? And they didn't even tell me about this?

"Your family changed your name when you woke up so that you can live a new life, without getting caught in any mess again."

My life is so evil and frustrating... Full of sadness and dissatisfaction.

But,

Why did my twin die if she wanted Taehyung to herself?

Hoseok's lips stretched but his smile didn't reach his lips.

"That's for you to find out."

...

"Hate who?" My train of thought got cut when I heard his deep, rusty voice. Looking back at him with my eyes popping out of my sockets, I noticed his bored yet curious gaze judging me from top to bottom.

That's when I eventually realized that I was at Taehyung's house. The purple curtains, the same aroma, and the bedroom. That's why it looked so similar.

Peering down at my body, I noticed the furry-brown blanket wrapping me in its warmth. It was really soft, maybe that's why I slept for so long.

"Oh, uhm, that's nothing." I forced a smile. I can't tell him. Not yet.

I got up, trying to leave as the atmosphere was quite awkward. But the moment I walked a step, my head started spinning and I fell back down onto the bed. Hoping for some calmness, I took deep breaths, trying to catch my breath.

"Don't move. You have a fever." He grunted as he laid me down on the bed.

I didn't know why but a small smile automatically took its place on my face. I was happy. Although he wasn't showing any emotions, I could feel his care through his words.

"So what? As if you care." I scoffed while rolling my eyes, trying to see his reaction.

"You better take a rest because if you die, then the police are gonna knock at my door. And I do not want that." He hoisted an eyebrow with sarcasm.

Ouch.

"So you just care if you might go to prison? Not about the sick girl staying at your house?" I gasped in disbelief.

"No."

"Wahhh, Kim Taehyung. You're so rude." I narrowed my eyes, looking down at the blanket.

"Yeah, whatever. Just get up and drink this soup." He commanded.

Gazing at his hands, I noticed him holding a bowl with a spoon in it.

Did he bring that for me? Well, that's weird. I thought he hated me. Maybe that's why he spent so much time with me, yearning for revenge. It sometimes hurts to feel this way. Like a teardrop urges to fall out but it just can't, because it needs to be held in.

I took it from his hands. When my cold fingers brushed with his warm ones, accidentally, I felt my hand shaking, due to nervousness. Damn... This was supposed to be professional.

"T-Thankyou." I gulped after speaking shortly.

"Yeah. Just take care you don't spill it on yourself. It's hot." He warned before going towards the door.

I thought he would leave but just stood there with his arms crossed, looking at me, as if waiting for me to drink a bit.

When he noticed that I saw him, he awkwardly cleared his throat, bringing me from my trance into reality. Glancing back at the bowl, I took a small sip from the spoon, tasting the flavor.

Sweet n' sour...

That's my favorite flavor...

I smiled shyly, before digging into the meal he prepared. He prepared it for me. But then... Why does he still treat me like that? Does he really think I'm that evil?

"I'm leaving. I got much more work to do. If you need something, then just walk and get it by yourself. It isn't as if there's nothing in this house. You just need to find it." He shrugged with an almost uncaring expression.

Before I could utter a word, he went out of the room, leaving me all alone.

Huh! Where did the CoNsIdErAtE Taehyung go?

Well, I take my thoughts back. He ain't caring.

Why does it feel as if he hates me and is just doing all of this because he sees her in me...? Because I look like her. But, I am her. He needs to know that. He needs to know that this is all a misunderstanding made by someone else.

"Wait, am I gonna stay here?!" I gasped. There's no way I'm staying in his house, right? But... I'm too weak to move. Maybe, I really should rest here. If I go back now, Yoongi and Namjoon will ask for a lot of explanations, especially when and why did I go somewhere else. And also, about this hoodie...

C'mon. Don't ask me about this one. Don't even get me started.

This was the first thing I noticed when I woke up. My clothes were dried and neatly folded on the table beside the bed. I was wearing this hoodie and pajamas that were too oversized for me. There was no one in this house except him who was conscious, so I assume he changed my clothes.

I don't want to argue with him right now because I don't have any energy.  Plus if he didn't do that then I would have frozen to death anyways.

Laying back down once I finished the soup, a troubled sigh escaped my lips as my eyes suddenly started to droop.

"In what kind of magic shit did I get myself involved?"
