Left At The Altar ☻ Pt. 1
A/N: I love Harley, but somehow she always seems to be the bad guy (correction, even more bad guy?)
Your POV
"It's the big day!" My father jeers, and rubs my mothers shoulders supportively (or any other family members or friends).
"You look," my mother sniffs and looks me over, "beautiful. You will both be so happy".
My father grins, "you know, you're mother told me when she first met Joker that she thought it would last". This surprised me since my mother has never approved of any of the boyfriends I've had in the past, and to approve of Joker? She must be as insane as we are. I look at my mother in surprise as she chuckles and wipes the tears our of her eyes.
"Oh, hush, y/d/n (your dad's name). You're so bad!" I smile as I watch the two of them make fun of one another. "Oh! Do you hear that? It's Joker's car," she yelps excitedly and rushes over to the window with my father. "My goodness he's quite a dashing fellow," she wiggles her eyebrows at me and I roll my eyes in embarrassment.
"How strange," my father adds on. "He's not wearing a tuxedo, only his dress shirt. Maybe something's wrong?" I run up to the window and Joker spots me and waves me out of the building.
"I'll just be a moment you two," and gather the dress in my hands.
"Crab apples!" My mother yells, "it's bad luck to let him see you before the isle walk," and she sighs out of disappointment. All I can think about is Joker in this moment and if he's okay.
"Lovely day for a wedding, isn't it?" he says sarcastically, as it is practically pouring out. "You, as always, look breath taking". His voice is colder than usual and he leans against his car as though beckoning me forward into the rain. "But I can't marry you, Y/N". He looks away from me, his bright eyes meeting our surroundings.
"J, what are you talking about? Do you just have cold feet or something?" I don't want to step into the rain and ruin my makeup and dress. "Hey, look at me". His gaze finally lands on my face and I lose all words when I see he's serious. When he turns around to reach for the door handle I decide, 'who gives a fuck if my dress got torn in two? I need to stop J'. I run forward into the rain and can already feel the makeup on my face become a mask of sadness. "STOP! J, what did I do?" I finally reach him and tug his arm to pull him in to me. He just shakes his head and tries pushing me off of him.
"Get off of me, I don't wanna hurt you!" he yells and swipes his wet hair from his forehead.
"You already have," I burst into tears and keep a hold on his arm. "Why? I love you, J. Please don't do this!" He stops moving and looks into my eyes for the longest amount of time. My parents and the wedding guests were all crowded around the church entrance, staring.
"I don't love you, Y/N". He was lying. There was something else. "I love another person". There was someone else. "Harley is just good for me, I'm- I'm so sorry, Y/N".
He swings open his car door and gets in but I get in one last question to the love of my life. "What the hell is wrong with you?"
He gives me a sad smile, "I'm a bad guy. It's what I do," and drives off, leaving me to cry in the rain on our wedding day.
