" Man this country is amazing! Are you guys seeing what I'm seeing here? It's like every house is a mansion or something. " Polnareff asked in the front seat.

We were driving through a fancy street, and the houses looked like they were mansions and everyone owned one. The car Joseph bought was fancy, but the reason behind the fancy purchase is beyond anyone. No one knows why he bought such a nice car for this sandy place. Joseph was sitting in the front seat beside Polnareff, leaving me to sit in the middle of the other two travelers. 

   " Yeah, all the houses around here would cost three or four billion yen in Tokyo. Apparently, this is the norm for the people here. Just 20 years ago, this was all desert, but thanks to massive profits from the oil crisis, this place turned into a dream-like city. "

   " The sun is harsh but with the air conditioning, it's perfectly comfortable inside the car. No complaints here. "

I could see Polnareff looking around. He looked out of the window behind us and then out of the windows. He finally settles in his seat and placed his hand under his chin. 

   " What wrong, Kakyoin? "

   " Its...Its nothing. The view here is amazing. If anyone were after us, I'm sure we'd spot them, but I feel like someone's watching us, so I can't help looking back. "

   " Can't blame you, every time we thought we could relax we really couldn't. " I said folding my arms. 

   " Yeah, we can never catch a break, can we? " Kakyoin asked looking at me, connecting our eyes. 

   " We can't, but it's what we signed up for. "

   " It is, but at least we get to be heroes in the comics instead of the bystanders. "

   " True, it's more fun to be the hero and not the villain or the bystander. "

   " Listen up you two. If we take the route I explained at the dealership we can get to the airport. We can fly across the Saudi Arabian desert. If we can get a Cessna, I can piolet it, and it'll shorten our travel time. "

   " Flying in a Cessna with a man whose been in three plane crashes and a woman who's been in two. Yeah, that seems like a perfect idea to me.  " Jotaro said leaning back on the headrest.

I chuckled a little but Joseph only glared at Jotaro. I stopped laughing and continued to listen. 

   " That comment was not standing. Our priorities should be crossing the desert and high-tailing it to the village of Yarpline. It'll take us one day on camelback. "

I decided to fade away into my thoughts and stop listening to Joseph. I knew the plan and that was all I cared about at the moment. It got quiet really quickly, and it was an awkward silence. I felt a yawn start climbing my throat and I covered my mouth as I yawned. I was yawning a lot because I didn't sleep much. Dreams were great but when Dio was in them they weren't dreams anymore, they were nightmares. I felt my right shoulder get nudged, and when I looked over, Jotaro's eyes were staring at me.

   " Yes? "

   " Why're you so tired? How much sleep did you get last night? "

   " Not much. With so many stand attacks and Dio in my dreams, I really have no value for sleep anymore. I just need a little coffee or some tea and I can stay awake. I've been awake now for almost 25 hours. "

   " Now, that's pretty useless. "

   " What? "

   " How are you going to fight when you can't even go one minute without yawning? Get some rest, I'll wake you when we get there. "

   " I can go without. "

   " I agree with JoJo, Y/n. You look really tired, and it would do some good for you to get some sleep. "

   " Not you too Kakyoin. I am fine. "

   " Just rest please for me? " Kakyoin asked showing me a small smile.

I rolled my eyes and leaned my head back against the headrest behind me and closed my eyes. 

   " Fine, but wake me up when we get to the village. "

   " Sleep well, precious. "

   ' Okay, he gotta stop or I'm going to be a tomato. '

You closed your eyes and went to sleep quickly. You didn't dream of Dio so it left you in wonderful dreams. Kakyoin smiled at your sleeping figure glad you could get some rest. Jotaro glanced at you from the corner of his hat and sighed.

   " Good grief. "

He leaned against the window and was about to reach out to pull you towards him so you could be more comfortable laying on him. Before he could touch your shoulder a pale hand had wrapped around your shoulders and held your right shoulder. Kakyoin pulled you against him so you leaned on him instead. Your body shifted against him and turned towards him. Your head rested against his chest and your body was close to his. Kakyoin made eye contact with Jotaro and showed him a small smile. They knew they would be friends no matter who you chose, so to them, it was a friendly competition. 

   " You're fast Kakyoin. And stealthy. I'll have to be quicker next time. "

Jotaro tilted his hat down and leaned against the window, watching the mansions pass by with the sun floating above them and setting everything ablaze. By the time you woke up, you were already on a camel. You opened your eyes slowly and when you did, you found yourself on top of a camel. You sat up and rubbed your eyes. You were sitting behind Kakyoin and on a camel.

   " What happened? Where did the car go? "

   " Ah, you woke up. Well, Mr. Joestar traded in the car for these camels. It's going to take us a full day to get to the village on these camels. "

   " ... "

   " Y/n? "

   " JOSEPH! "

   " AH! What? "

   " Joseph, why didn't you keep the car? What was the point of getting camals? "

   " The camels are better suited for traveling across the desert. They have a big water supply in their humps, so the sun doesn't bother them. "

   " Alright, I get that, but did you also forget that the car you bought has 4-wheel-drive? "

   " And what would we do with a limited amount of gas? By the time we got to the camel salesman, we were three-fourths full. "

   " And did you not think we could have gotten some gas tanks and filled them up? Put them in the trunks and ride with them?"

   " ... "

   " That's what I thought. "

It was silent for a little while longer before Kakyoin turned to look back at me.

   " Do you want to sit in front of me? "

   " Sure. "

I took notice that he had a cover over his head and so did Polnareff. I put my arms around him and moved my legs to one side of the camel and slid off, moving one of my legs into the air and put it around the camel on the other side, in front of Kakyoin. I pulled myself in front of him and sat in front of him. I basically swung around him and sat facing him. His face was a little red but I just smiled and turned around. I laid my back against his chest and I could feel his arms on both sides of me. Nothing was said and we kept riding the camels. I felt a shiver travel up my back as if we were being watched and that person's eyes were on me. "

   " Something's wrong. I still can't shake the feeling that someone's watching us. " Kakyoin admitted.

   " Kakyoin, I think you're worrying a bit too much. The palm leaves are covering our tracks. And we can see a great distance around us. If someone were here, we'd know. " Polnareff said.

   " Now, that we are out here I'm starting to feel it too. It feels like someone has their eyes on me. " I admitted.

   " Me too. " JoJo agreed. 

   " Jotaro, look into it. " Joseph told him. 

Jotaro searched his bag on the side of the camel and found his binoculars. He brought them to his eyes and Star Platinum formed in front of him. We waited for his response. His face was stern as he looked into the waves of sand. Kakyoin stopped our camel and everyone waited. 

   " How about it? Do you see anything suspicious out there? "

   " No, nothing. Nothing whatsoever. Even so, something's not right here, but what is it? "

   " Hey, let's hurry up and go. " Polnareff told them with a dry throat. 

We all agreed and discussed how hot it was. We only stopped when we heard Joseph gasp.

   " Eight o'clock? What? Jotaro, check your watch. What time does it say?" 

   " It's ten past eight. Hey, old man! "

   " My watch is correct. We lost track of time but what the hell is going on? According to my watch, it's past eight pm. So, why isn't the sun setting? "

I looked in the direction of the sun and I couldn't directly look at it. I looked down at the sand wiping the tears from my eyes from looking too close to the sun. 

   " This is impossible. The thermometer is jumping to sixty degrees celsius! " Polnareff said looking at his thermometer.

   " No, the sun's not even going down at all. It's actually-" Kakyoin said from behind me. 

   " It's actually rising higher in the west! " Polnareff finished.

   " Don't tell me the sun is really..."

   " A stand? " Jotaro finished for the old geezer.

   " What else could it be? It has to be and we're not in a good spot right now. "

   " Y/n's right! Quickly! Get behind some of those rocks! "

We jumped off the camels and started running to a pile of rocks that would cover all of us. The shadows covered us but the shade didn't cool us at all. The temperature had even risen to seventy degrees Celsius. 

   " Our only option here is to quickly take out the stand user. " Jotaro said.

Smoke started rising from the ground, from the hot sun starting to burn it. My skin felt as if it was on fire. We were all breathing hard as the air was losing its coolness and the heat started taking everything over. Anything that could survive the heat of the desert, usually, stood no chance in this. Not even the camels who fell to the ground due to their exposure to the heat. 

   " This waiting isn't getting us anywhere. " Kakyoin said standing up.

   " Kakyoin don't do anything stupid. We don't know where the user is. "

   " I'm not going to do anything stupid. I'll use Hierophant to do some recalescence around the area. I'll only search for the stand's rough location. If we know how far away it is we might be able to locate the user. "

Hierophant appeared, with legs this time instead of his tail and he started heading towards the sun. Kakyoin counted the meters her traveled the closer he got. At one-hundred meters, I could hear the sun flare.

   " Something' snot right. Kkayoin, have Hierophant come back! " Jotaro shouted. 

   " There's something coming right at us! " Polnareff shouted. 

Before Kakyoin could call Hierophant to come back he was injured. There were a lot of things flying through the sky and they started hitting the rock wall behind us. Kkayoin kneeled to the ground and held on to him. The balls of molten fire melted the rock around us and killed the rest of the camels. Getting rid of our water. I pulled Gold Spirit out while Polnareff did the same with Chariot. We used our swords to hit the balls and divide them before they could reach us.

   " I'm gonna bust a hole in the ground! Everyone get in now! "

I heard Star Platinum's 'Ora' and turned around with Pol to run into the hole. The balls of lave were going everywhere and I noticed one coming right towards Polnareff. I jumped on Polnareff and pushed us the rest of the way into the hole. The ball of lava didn't touch us and hit the ground as we rolled into the hole.

   " Merci, ma chere. "

   " Don't worry about it. "

Kakyoins' breathing worried me. He was breathing deeper than the rest of us and he was sweating profusely. Everyone was sweating but he looked like he was sweating more than he should. His eyes held tears that he wouldn't let fall and I sent Gold Spirit to heal him. 

   " My emerald splash protected me from any damage. I'll be fine. But I feel like with this intense heat it's going to drive me insane. "

   " Did any of you notice that attack? " I asked.

   " It was perfectly aimed. While we were fighting and cutting the balls of fire the targets were clear. Those balls of fire went right for us, no matter where we moved. " Polnareff continued.

   " Meaning that the user is near us. They've been watching us the entire time. " I concluded.

   " We'll just lay low for now. Sit tight until something happens next. " Joseph said looking back at me.

   ' This is going to be useless. I'm going to be burnt and dead when this is over with. '

   " Oh shit! "

I looked at Joseph's hands and saw his water container was busted, leaving us with no water. He threw it to the burning sun outside and I watched it start to smoke. He sat in the hole for a while, breathing trying to stay cool, but there was nothing we could do. We were all sweating buckets full and with no water to cool us down our body temperatures increased. I was seated beside Jotaro and Polnareff in the hole and they were in the same state as I was. Sitting and waiting for the next attack or a chance to get out of the heat.

   " Jotaro! "

Joseph held his hand out and JoJo gave him his binoculars. 

   " Son of a bitch! Where the hell are you!? " Joseph screamed.

I laughed a little at his predicament but my smile faded quickly as I continued to breathe deeply. It felt like hours had passed, and it was only getting hotter. The temperature was bound to make one of us go mad, but who it would be I had no idea. Not until the laughter started. 

   ' Why is he laughing? '

I looked over at Kakyoin who was laughing. It was a small chuckle at first and then it escaped his lips. He seemed to be having the time of his life but...

   ' His laugh sounds like he's going insane. '

   " What Kakyoin? What's the matter? "

He didn't respond, he only kept laughing. Joseph kept yelling at him, but laughter was what filled Kakyoin's lungs. I leaned towards Jotaro a little afraid of Kkayoin's mental state.

   " What's going on? "

Jotaro didn't answer my question. He started laughing just like Kakyoin did. Kakyoin's sounded more whimsical while Jotaro's was deep. I scooted away from Jotaro and to Polnareff only for him to start laughing. Polnareff's laugh joined there's and it sounded like an insane group going further into insanity. I sat beside Joseph and he looked at me wondering if I was going to laugh. I shook my head and looked back at the three. 

   " Oh no! They've all lost it! This damn heat has driven them all completely insane! At least you have your sanity Y/n, we need to think of what to do here. "

   " I'm with you there, these three are starting to scare me with their laughter. I don't even think I've seen a person laugh this long and not take a breath. "

A hand was placed on my shoulder and Joseph. It was Kakyoin looking at us as he wiped his tears from his eyes. He laughed so much he cried.

   " Please...Please don't get the wrong idea you two. Have a look at that rock over there. It's large enough for someone to hide behind, don't you agree? "

I looked at where Kakyoin was pointing and saw a rock. It did look big enough for someone to hide behind but I was still a little confused. 

   " What? I don't follow you. "

   " I don't either Noriaki. "

   " Oh, you will. Take a look a the rock sitting on the opposite side. "

We looked at the rock and it was the same rick that we saw but turned in a different direction.

   " Umm...." 

   ' I barely understand. I guess I get it. A mirror? '

   " Oh...I get it. "I told them. 

   " You, still don't see it, sir? " Kakyoin asked Joseph.

   " Oh, what a stupid trick. " Polnareff said calming down his laughter.

   " Move. Stay here, old man. "

Jotaro walked outside and Star Platinum was summoned. He grabbed a rock and threw it towards the rock and shattering glass could be heard. I smiled knowing what I thought was right. I couldn't fully understand it but I knew there was a mirror reflecting the rock and that was good enough. The sun went away and revealed the starry sky. I stepped out of the hole and stood, looking at the stars. 

   " Since, we've defeated the enemy stand nights finally fallen. Or maybe I should say it's back to being night. " Kakyoin stated smiling at the stars. 

   " However you wanna slice it we're safe and sound. " Pol shouted climbing out of the hole.

   " Just how long do you plan on hiding in that hole? "

   " Oh, yeah, right. "

   " Good grief. It's finally gotten dark around here. "

I walked over to the mirror and saw the guy that Star hit with the rock dead on the ground. He had a water tank and air conditioning. 

   " So, wait. You're telling me that we defeated the stand user already? We didn't even know his name! Or his backstory! How did we defeat him already? " Joseph yelled.

   " Joseph, look. Times have changed. In our time all of that mattered........but apparently not any more so let's grab that water. "

I pulled the water out of the small cart and set it beside the mirror on the sand. I looked up at the stars feeling the cool night air. Who would have thought that the stand followed us and hid by using a mirror? He kept us from the beautiful stars. 

   " It's kind of chilly at night in the desert, isn't it? " Kakyoin joked.

   " Don't even joke about that! I will never complain about cold weather again. " I yelled smiling at him. 

Kakyoin patted my head, but I pushed his hand away and laid in the sand. I just stared up at the stars, closing my eyes and enjoying the cool air. When I opened my eyes I could still see a confused Joseph, and it made me break out in laughter.
