Chapter 4 - Get a Disguise
This time, I was actually holding onto something as I fell. Small, but a huge difference. With the ground steadily coming closer, the cord suddenly went taunt.
My feet were inches above the ground, but instead of staying there, I bounced back up again, unexpectedly, my hands came free and flailed madly in mid air.
Then, I came crashing back down again.
However, when I actually landing, the ground seemed to crumble away under me. I tumbled, and I laid flat on the cold, dark ground, facing the fiery sky.
A green line danced across my face. I sat up, rubbing my head, then a formal woman's voice addressed to me. "Welcome to HEC. Please write your name with this bewitched pen.". A stylish black pen appeared in front of me, along with a piece of white parchment. Hastily scribbling 'Birchen' onto it, red text appear magically after it. I looked at the paper in surprise. The words after it was my last name. I looked around, unsure of what to do. I guess I'll just write down my last name after it.
"Thank you. Please walk into the wall in front of you." the lady's voice said again without emotion.
Wait, walking into the wall?
Then again, this is a hidden entrance.
I hesitantly press my hand against the wall, and with a gentle click, the false wall moved back, revealing a dark corridor. Cautiously entering, I see piles of documents stacked on top of each other. I lifted one up. Cover story:
Jacob Fender. 2.1 metres tall, 72 kgs in weight. Refer to weight and height gaining. Background: abandoned as a child, lived in orphanage by River Fist. Gym trainer. Not very intelligent. Goes to West Tower to buy materials.
I placed the document down. Maybe I'll go and grow taller.
After I got a fake tattoo of the Cogenth city symbol, and got my cover story ready (I decided that I will become Jacob), I headed into the actual corridor that leads to Cogenth. According to the map, I will enter Cogenth through a small weaponry shop (called 'Golden Blades') that sells weapons too expensive to have many customers.
The shop's owner is actually part of the Rogue city, so it doesn't matter whether the owner sees you or not. In fact, it says the owner, Valerie, will help. As I got my bag, I turn around and found out Darwith wasn't here with me yet.
Good riddance. I never liked Darwith and it wasn't my choice to travel with him. He just happened to be 'in trouble' when I was travelling to Cogenth. To leave an injured was very rude, so I had to take him with. Even though he was a nuisance, I couldn't but help worry.
Stop thinking about that stuff! You got a mission, and you got to fulfill it.
So I climbed the slope, revising the Cogenth map I memorized.
