Chapter 29 - Escape . . . ?
A short summary on what's happened so far . . .
When Birchen and accomplices go and restock their supplies, Darwith accidentally makes a mistake and endangers their cover. Birchen, seeing the hazards of what could happen next quickly butts in to solve the problem - but did he just make himself fall further into the web of lies . . . ?
My plan had turned the wrong direction.
His grip on me tightened.
"Trevor. Come."
A man hurried towards Sir Castor. "What is it, Sir?"
"Block the entrances and exits."
Panic started to crawl up me. I struggled against his grip. "Why are you holding me like that? It hurts." I pretended to flinch. A dry grin curled on his lips.
"Don't play that innocent look with me."
He hauled me to one of the guards blocking the door.
"Guard him."
"Yes Sir!"
The guard grabbed my wrists and attached a handcuff on both myself and Darwith. I struggle against him, but it proved useless.
How are we going to escape? A small voiced questioned me. Suddenly, a wave of pessimistic thoughts zoomed all over my mind.
What happens if we can't get out?
What happens if they kill us?
What will Lord Enince think?
What will happen to the jewel of strength?
I struggled to push the thoughts out of my mind. The negative thoughts continued to seep further into my heart and brain. My heartbeat became faster, my breathing became jagged and my eyesight became clouded.
Get yourself together! See what's happening to the others!
I forcefully looked upwards and scanned the area. So far, everyone in the store who wanted to get out had to line up. They were then questioned and if they were proved innocent, they were released. Lark was already questioned, and clearly she failed, because a guard was pushing her towards us. She gave us an angry glare.
'Seriously, why did you have to muck it up? We were going so well too!'
I gave a small shrug. She snorted. I found Delilah in the line, looking nervous and hurriedly muttering under her breath. Probably casting a spell. Gale wasn't in the line. Instead, he was by the isles. He saw me looking, and gave me a furious glare. Suddenly, he disappeared and I couldn't see him anymore. Must of used his invisibility powers.
I turned back to Delilah. She was being questioned, and thankfully, she passed. She turned back at us, and left. It was only us three who were stupid enough to let down our guard. Sir Castor came back.
"Looks like it's just you three who are from Cogenth." He sneered. I looked away.
"Come on, you trespassers. It's time to go to jail.
