Chapter 26 - At Last, The Light of Allevith

The bath was amazingly cold, but it worked. By the time I finished, my skin was a light blue - exactly like a normal Allevith citizen. Delilah also tattooed the Allevith City Symbol onto my arm, as well as giving me a makeover, so I looked like a completely different person. When she finished with all of us, we no longer looked like a bunch of rag tagged Perfideth citizens, but healthy Allevith members. With our bags on our back, we headed deeper inside the cave, where it would eventually lead us into Allevith.

"I'm tired!"

"I know you are. Now shush. We're almost there."

We had been walking for at least an hour already, yet the cave did not seem to end. The only light was from our glittering lanterns, casting flickers of orange light onto the walls. Tall shadows crept upon us on all corners.

I hope this isn't a dead end.

Golly, if it was a dead end, then I might as well quit this mission.

"Wait. Did you feel that?" Gale suddenly said.
"Feel what?"
"Just . . . stop and feel. I think I felt something."
We all stopped in our tracks, trying to feel what Gale had felt. Suddenly, a gust blew in, ruffling my hair. Wind. Air.
"Is that what I think it is . . . ?" Lark said slowly, as if saying it out loud would make it vanish. Without ending her sentence, we all ran through the cave.
