Chapter 24 - What it takes to Devise a Plan

I sat down on the cold hard floor, and unfurled a map of the city. Glancing towards each other, the others sat down as well.

"I presume you all know the rough idea of the city?"

They all nodded. I pointed to the middle of the map. "As you all know, this is the Allivith central. The palace is located here, and the jewel is based in the Cherished Garden, the local palace park. Surrounding the central is the farmlands. A passport is required to enter the city central. The Cave of Mercucy will get us inside the city, but not into the city central. Not only that, but we need to look blue as well. How do you think we could get in there? It's not going to be as easy as Cogenth for sure. They're much more sensitive towards magic, and much more cunning. However, they are also much less hostile."

Delilah leaned forward and rested her head on her hands. "I could magically turn you all slightly blue. I can just make copies of the passport."

I shook my head. "That's too risky. If anything were to happen to you, we could easily end up dead."

Delilah frowned. "Then . . . I guess we could dye ourselves blue. It doesn't require magic, but it takes awhile to work."

"That's a good idea. We can get it done after this. Now . . . for the passports. That's harder, because passports have who knows how many security features?" I agreed.

Delilah thumped her hands onto the ground. "You are underestimating the power of magic!"

"You are underestimating the Allevith citizens! As I said before, they are much more sensitive to magic. Simple magic spells ain't going to cut it." I argued back.

"Oh, will you two just stop it! This arguing isn't going to get anywhere!" Lark broke in, and looked at me straight in the eye. "Isn't there at least some places with lax security?" she questioned.

I looked back at the map. Back in Perfideth, I had circled all the weak points in red. "I guess we could go through Ample Prairie . . . we could risk sneaking past them. We could go through the Wandering Forest to escape. Their security is pretty weak too."

"You see? Okay, what's next?" Lark cried out joyfully.

"Um, let's see . . . Oh, right. Supplies. Hopefully, if all turns well, we should be able to buy our supplies at this shop called . . . the Omnia. Apparently, it's the best buy all around."

"Whoa! You've done your research." Lark exclaims. I blush.

"Then . . . we've got cover stories."
