Chapter 9

- Tegan's Point of View -

We walked into the house, laughing hysterically, soaked to the bone. After we got back from the school we had decided to take a walk, and right in the middle of it, it started to rain. It had kept pouring down on us like Niagara falls for another half hour as we finished our walk, and it still was.

"I just want you close, where you can stay foreeevvvveeeerrr," Joe sang along with Maria as they wiped down the table.

I realized I had missed dinner again.

"You and me together, through the days and nights," Maria harmonized.

"I don't worry cause, everything gonna be allllrriiigghht," I continued.

"People keep talkin, they can sayyyy what they liiikkke," Joe sang.

"Buuuut all I know is everythings gonna be allllrriiight," Maria and me harmonized with each other.

"NO ONE, NO ONE, NOO OOOONNNNNNEEEE, CAN GET IN THE WAY OF WHAT I'M FEELLLLIIINNN!" We all sang together.

"Oh, you're back! I hadn't noticed you." Maria laughed.

"Man, it's on fire in here." I said.

At least, it felt like it. After being in the rain so long it felt like the Sahara in here.

"THIS GIRL IS ON FIIIIIRRRREEEE!" We all sang together.

It was sort of a habit of ours. Whenever somebody said something that we could relate to a song, we'd sing it. Yeah, probably not the best habit ever.

"Okay, song birds. I think that's good enough." Ken said.

He was use to our behavior, but sometimes even he had to put his foot down.

"Good for ya, good for ya." I couldn't help myself.

"Teg?"

"Sorry." I looked down at my feet.

"You two look like you jumped into a puddle." Maria said, looking at our drenched hair and clothes.

"We did! Well, I did." I answered.

"Yup. She jumped right in like a wild cat." Ken confirmed it.

"Don't worry," Joe winked at me.

"I would have done the same thing."

"Well I was already wet. You might as well have fun."

"Well the heater is on and there's still some hot water on the stove if you want some tea or hot chocolate."

"Oooo, so many choices." Ken laughed.

"Oh, and there's also some coffee."

"There won't be once Ken get's to it." I chuckled.

"I don't get why you don't like coffee." He said it like it was a crime.

"It's just so bitter, even when you do put sugar in it...Think of it this way, more for you."

"Oh yeah. I hadn't thought of that."

We both laughed and trudged off to the kitchen. I was going to make myself some black tea with milk and sugar, but then I decided to have the hot chocolate. It wasn't very often that we got hot chocolate and I didn't want to miss the opportunity. Ken poured himself a cup of coffee and left it black. Of course, I had to make a face and when I did he returned it by taking a big swig of that nasty stuff and said, "Mmmmmmmmmm..." I gave him another face and after that I looked at the calendar.

"Wait, it's a feast day?" I said, surprised.

"Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you." Maria said.

"Well let's watch a movie." I suggested happily.

We were only allowed to watch movies on the weekends, birthdays, and feast days.

"Oh no." Ken said.

"What?"

"I see a long two hours of The Great Dictator."

"Go Charlie Chaplin!" I answered.

"Wait a sec, you like that movie."

"I know. I'm liable to like it to much."

We both laughed and I slipped the video (Yes, we have a VHS player) in and, like Ken predicted, we had a two hour long laughing fit. After that Ken had to go home before Sue started worrying. I decided that I should probably get some studying done, after all, it was Friday and Tomorrow I wouldn't have to do any. I walked up to my room and hit the books. Maybe an hour later I decided I was too tired to do any more so I closed my math book and walked to the closet to get changed. I passed by the window and caught a glimpse of a girl in the window of the room and board across the street. Only, she looked familiar. Her brown hair and just the way she dressed....SHE LOOKED LIKE ME!!! I immediately turned back to the window but when I looked across the street there was no one there.

"Man, I must be seeing things." I thought out loud.

So I just ignored it and went back to my closet, getting ready for a very much needed good nights sleep.

- Alrighty then, sorry for taking so long on all the updates but I've been working on a book for my family called 'The Red Key'. I don't know if I should post it on here or not. What do you guys think? I hope you liked the chapter and if you did, votes and comments are appreciated. Thanks :D - Anna
