Chapter 5

- Tegan's POV -

I walked into the house put my bag down on the couch, sat down, my head back, and said to no-one in particular, "I'm an idiot."

Maria, who had no qualm about grasping this opportunity, was the one to answer.

"Finally, she realizes it."

But when I didn't answer with a well thought out come back, she knew something was wrong.

"What's up?" She asked.

"Nothing. I'm just the biggest fool on this planet. I got mad at Ken for the most stupid reason. The thing is, I don't even know why I did it."

"Maybe it was just at the spare of the moment, or something."

"I don't know."

I got up and started heading toward the kitchen.

"Is there any dinner left?" I asked.

"Dinner? Didn't you eat there?"

"Yeah. But I'm hungry again."

"There's a little bit of chili left."

"Oh. Never mind."

I didn't particularly care for chili.

I went up to my bedroom to put my books away and Joe was reading her horse Encyclopedia.

"Hello." I said.

"Hi." She answered, not looking up form her book. I had to laugh. Gotta love sisters. They act like you're not even there and you're constantly teasing each other, but when you're really in trouble they're the first ones you turn to. Funny how that works. It was around ten o'clock and my sisters were heading to bed so I walked back downstairs to maybe write a little. Mama and Daddy had already gone to bed so I was pretty much the only one awake. Raphael was still at work though, so I left the porch light on. I desided to update my books on a website called wattpad (I'm sure you've heard of it. Wink, wink). After a while of that I check my email. I answered several messages form friends and deleted several adds. I was through all of my mail when an anonymous email popped up. It opened itself and in bid red letters it said, 'WATCH OUT! YOU'RE NEXT!'. It was then that I realized, I was alone. All the lights were off, save the porch light, and everyone was asleep. Suddenly, the door swung open emitting a huge gust of wind and rain and even though it made hardly any noise, it seemed nearly deafening to me. I jumped out of my and groped for something to throw. The hooded figure came closer and I was about to throw a book at him, when he pulled his hood down, revealing his unmistakable head of red hair. I let out the breath I had been holding and said in relief, "Raph. Oh, you scared me."

"Um...How?" Raphael asked.

For a minute I contemplated telling him, but than I began to weigh the options. Either I tell him and he freaks out and calls 911, or I don't tell him and figure out what's going on before I involve anyone else in my problems. Plus, there was a large chance that it was just a prank or something like that.

"Oh, I was just...Watching a scary video...Night!"

I quickly ran up to my bedroom before he realized that I NEVER watched scary videos.

I quickly changed into my pajamas, brushed my teeth, said my prayers, and hopped into bed. I set my alarm clock for 6 a.m. and then finally, after a long days hard work, pulled the nice and cold covers over my cold body, and curled up, trying to make myself warm. I loved the feeling of the cold around me and the warmth under the blankets. I tried to put my mind at ease, but the anonymous message kept nagging at me and I eventually fell asleep with that thought still on my mind.
