Chapter 1

Ursa steps out of the fireplace in the sitting room to see Bellatrix. Ursa narrows her eyes. Narcissa and Draco step out behind Ursa. "I'm surprised you brought her back Cissy." Bellatrix says with a sneer. "A blood-traitor." Ursa shakes her head and walks out, making sure to flip Bellatrix off on her way.

     "Ursa!" Narcissa exclaims.

"Given Bellatrix tried to kill her," Draco says. "I would say that is the best thing she could have done. Honestly expected Ursa to attack her."

     "So did I." Bellatrix says.

"She was silent the whole ride. Her friends said she was silent too."

"I will go check on her." Narcissa says before leaving the room. She goes up to Ursa's room to find her sitting at her window seat and staring out the window. "Cub?"

"Hm?" Ursa says without looking at Narcissa.

"Are you alright? Wait. That is a dumb question."

     "I'm fine Mother. Just mourning."

"Is there anything you need from me?"

"I don't think so. Other than keeping her away from me."

"Of course. We are all surprised you did not attack her."

     "Not in the mood."

"Alright. Your father's trial is in two days and they want you to testify since you were there." Ursa nods. "You will do the right thing correct?" Ursa stays silent for a few seconds.

"I will do the right thing for me." Ursa says. "Whether that is lying or not is yet to be seen."

     "Ursa." Narcissa sighs.

"He was caught red-handed." Ursa looks at Narcissa. "There is not really anything I can say to keep him from going to Azkaban. Draco and I are not little anymore and no smart person would put the same person under the Imperius Curse twice. The least he will get is a charge for breaking into the Ministry to steal something and even that is a low chance. Unlike 14 years ago, his Mark is easily visible. Serving the Dark Lord is twenty years in Azkaban at the least. They will figure out he was never under the Imperius Curse and will probably end up with a life sentence."

"Why did you not help him?"

"I did. I gave him my prophecy, so he would not be empty handed, and told him to run. Bellatrix took it from him before he could escape."

"Your prophecy?" Narcissa sits next to Ursa.

"She didn't tell you?" Narcissa shakes her head.

"She did not give me details about it. Just that you had one and she told the Dark Lord."

"I had a prophecy with the Dark Lord too. I'm essential to his success or defeat and I have to choose between you and Draco or my friends eventually."

     "I had no idea."

"With Father's trial... you know I have to make sure he does not come home right?"

"No. What do you mean?" Ursa looks back outside as tears come to her eyes.

"If... if he comes home, we both know he is going to kick me out and disown me."

"Ursa... I do not think he wants-"

"It doesn't matter what he wants! Family tradition says he has to... so he will. He even admitted it. He said I would be if he ever got out unless you did it for him."

     "He did?"

     "Yes."

"No matter what you choose I will not be mad. I know they will try to give you Vertiserum."

"They will not." Ursa replies. "Dumbledore is the Chief Warlock again. He knows I am a powerful Occlumens and not worth wasting it on me."

"Why do you listen to that man?"

"I honestly do not know. Because he is on the side that does not want my friends dead. That is about it. I am not proud or happy to be allied with him Mother."

"What would it take to get you to help the Dark Lord?"

"I do not think there is anything. My friends are blood-traitors, Harry Potter, and a Muggle-born. Unless he can ensure them and their family's safety which he will not."

"You are right. He will not. Especially Potter."

     "Exactly."

"Well I will keep Bella away from you."

     "Thank you."

"If she tries to hurt you, please tell me."

"She probably will at some point."

     "Tell me."

"I will." Narcissa walks over to Ursa and sits next to her.

"Thank you for not attacking your aunt. The Dark Lord has already punished her harshly for failing and trying to kill you."

"There goes my plans for tomorrow." Ursa says with a small smile.

"Only you would crack jokes when you are down."

"Well I know you are hurting too."

"I am." They sit silently for a minute. "That prophecy explains why the Dark Lord punished her for trying to kill you."

"I noticed she looked a little more ragged than usual."

"He did a number on her. She has never failed him before." Narcissa sighs. "He really wants you on his side Ursa."

"I know, so does Dumbledore. They know whoever has me is most likely to win." Narcissa gently makes Ursa look at her.

"No matter what you choose in the end. I will always love you." Narcissa kisses Ursa's forehead. "Come on. Let's go for a walk outside."

     "No thank you."

"That was not a suggestion. I know the second I leave your room you are going to shut everyone out and get depressed again."

     "You know me too well."

"I do. Come on." Ursa gets up and goes into her closet. She puts her shoes on and speaks to Snape as she does.

"Bellatrix told the Dark Lord my prophecy." Ursa says.

"Damn it." Snape replies. "I'll tell Dumbledore." Ursa leaves her closet and follows Narcissa into the hall.

"Where are you going?" Draco asks as he sees them.

"A walk in the garden." Narcissa says. "Would you like to join us?"

"Sure." Draco walks with them outside and takes Ursa's hand, causing Ursa to smile softly.

Dumbledore sighs in relief when he sees the Malfoys step out of the Floo Fireplace at the Ministry. "I am so glad you came early." Dumbledore says as he walks up to Ursa. "I assume you got my message."

"We did. Why did we need to be here this early?" Narcissa replies.

"Wizengamont wants to put Miss Malfoy to trial."

     "What?" All three Malfoys exclaim.

"This is because Lucius was there isn't it?" Narcissa asks.

"Yes." Dumbledore replies. "Not everyone believes you were there with Harry. The younger Weasley children and some others are all here to support you."

"Hey Girly." Tonks says as she comes up behind Dumbledore.

"Hey Dora." Ursa says before noticing Tonks's hair is a normal human color. "What is wrong with your hair?"

"Apparently being depressed messes with my metamorphic abilities."

"Sounds about right. I have not been able to change without falling since then."

"Nymphadora will be your Auror escort to your trial." Dumbledore says

"You have nothing to worry about Girly." Tonks says. "We're on your side." Tonks turns to lead Ursa and Ursa runs and jumps on her back. "Hey!"

"Let's go!" Ursa says causing Tonks to laugh.

"Who is that?" Narcissa asks Draco as Dumbledore and Tonks, with Ursa still on her back, walk away.

"No idea." Draco replies. "She does not tell me much about her friends. Said she cannot risk it."

     "They seem quite close."

"So are we going to Ursa's trial?"

"My visitation with your father may overlap so we will go for as long as possible." Narcissa and Draco follow after Dumbledore. They sit in the stands of the courtroom. "The last time we were here was for your aunt's trial."

     "We?"

"You were with me. We decided you were too young to be able to remember it." Narcissa and Draco furrow their brows as the new Minister, Rufus Scrimgeour, sits in the Chief Warlock's seat.

"Why is Dumbledore not running it?"

"Maybe because Dumbledore and Ursa are... allies."

"Bring her in." Scrimgeour says and Tonks and Ursa walk in. Ursa sits in the seat in the middle of the room and Tonks stands next to her. One by one, Ron, Ginny, and a few Order members confirm Ursa's story. Narcissa nervously and reluctantly leaves near the end. In the end, Ursa is cleared, to the Minister's visible dismay.

"Where is Mother?" Ursa asks when she meets Draco outside the courtroom.

"She had to go to her visitation with Father. We're supposed to meet her at the Auror's office, where Father is."

     "Any idea where that is?"

"Nope." Draco says at Tonks walks by. Ursa jumps on Tonks's back again.

"Doraaaaa." Ursa says. "Where's the Auror's offices?"

"That's where I'm going. Get off of me and I'll take you Girly." Ursa slides off Tonks's back.

"So who are you?" Draco asks Tonks as they walk.

"He doesn't know who I am?" Tonks asks with fake sadness.

"I don't tell him much about other friends," Ursa says. "and may I remind you, I am not supposed to know you or your mother exist."

     "Right."

"Remember how I told you we had an aunt who was disowned for marrying a Muggle-born?"

     "Yeah." Draco says.

     "Well Dora is their daughter."

"We have a half-blood cousin?" Draco says with some disgust and Ursa hits him upside the head. "Ow! What was that for?"

     "The disgust on your face."

***

"Miss Malfoy." Dumbledore says, from his place at the front of the Wizengamont. "You were present the night of Mr Malfoy's arrest, correct?"

     "Yes sir." Ursa replies.

     "And why were you present?"

"I believed I was there with Harry Potter and our friends to rescue Sirius Black from You-Know-Who, until we discovered it was a trap."

"Were you aware that Mr Malfoy would be there?"

      "No sir."

"Did you know Mr Malfoy was a Death Eater?"

     "Yes sir."

"Was Mr Malfoy ever under the Imperius Curse?"

"No sir." Gasps come from around the room and Ursa keeps her face emotionless.

"How long has Mr Malfoy been a Death Eater?"

"I am not sure but I know he was associated with them immediately after graduating Hogwarts, if not before."

"Mr Malfoy." Dumbledore says later. "Did we arrest all of the Death Eaters?"

     "No." Lucius says.

     "Who have we missed?"

"Bellatrix Lestrange and Ursa Malfoy." Most people look over to the Malfoys and gasp.

"What the hell is he doing?" Narcissa hisses.

"Lashing out because I did not lie." Ursa replies.

"That is a serious accusation against a child." Dumbledore says. "Are you sure? Miss Malfoy was cleared of all charges just hours ago."

"Yes." Lucius replies. Dumbledore looks at Ursa and winks discreetly. Narcissa grabs and squeezes Ursa's hand.

"Do not fight them." Narcissa says. "Do what they say."

"Yes Mother." Ursa says as Dumbledore nods to the extra Aurors in the room. Draco squeezes Ursa's other hand. The Aurors draw their wands and walk towards Ursa. Ursa stands and holds her hands up. She walks towards the Aurors slowly.

"Where is your wand?" One of the Aurors ask as they restrain Ursa.

"Left hip." Ursa says. The Auror takes her wand and they lead Ursa to the Auror's offices. Ursa sees Tonks at the front desk. "Dora!"

"Quiet." One of the Aurors says. Tonks turns around and runs over to them.

"What is going on here?" Tonks asks.

"Lucius Malfoy says she's a Death Eater."

"She's not- oh give her here!" The Aurors look at each other. "Now!" Tonks's hair turns red. The Aurors give Ursa to Tonks and Tonks releases her.

"What are you doing?" Ursa hugs Tonks.

"Hey, you're okay Girly." Tonks rubs Ursa's back. "She's not a Death Eater. Where's her wand."

     "How do you know?"

"She was cleared of any charges a few hours ago. Now her wand." The Aurors give Ursa's wand to Tonks. "Glad I hadn't left yet." Tonks tries to get Ursa off of her but Ursa won't let go. Tonks carefully picks up Ursa and Ursa wraps her legs around her. Tonks carries her over to a bench. "I need to put you down Girly." Ursa releases Tonks and sits. Tonks sits next to her and Ursa leans on her. "Why didn't Dumbledore stop them."

"I don't know." Ursa says. "He winked at me."

"What happened? Why did your dad accuse you?"

"I told them everything. Without Vertiserum. He lashed out."

"You're okay now. Do you want to go back?"

"No. It's almost over and knowing my mother, she'll be here the second the trial is over." Five minutes later the doors almost slam open as Narcissa bursts in. She looks around and sees Ursa still with Tonks. She rushes over and kneels in front of Ursa.

"Are you alright Cub?" Narcissa asks.

"I am fine." Ursa says. "Luckily Tonks was still here and she made them release me." Narcissa glances at Tonks before he face changes to disgust. Ursa rolls her eyes. "Mother..."

     "I did not say anything."

     "I'm gonna go." Tonks says.

"Probably a good idea." Ursa says. "Thank you for your help. You are going to tell your mother what happened aren't you?"

"Probably. She likes hearing about you. Good or bad." Tonks messes up Ursa's hair and Ursa shoves her. Tonks laughs and Ursa rolls her eyes. "You know you love me."

"That's my line. Now shoo." Tonks chuckles as she walks away. No one speaks until Tonks is out of earshot. "Yes... she is Andromeda's daughter."

"How do you know about Andromeda?" Narcissa asks.

"Beatrice used her and Sirius as examples of what would happen if I was disowned. She also found out where I was in the States and we sent letters through Muggle mail for years."

"Come on." Narcissa says as she stands. "Let's go home." Ursa stands and follows Narcissa. She hugs Draco and Narcissa takes her hand before they walk out.

"Mrs Malfoy!" A reporter says. "Mrs Malfoy! Why did your husband accuse your daughter of being a Death Eater." Narcissa ignores the man and takes Draco's hand. They walk away in silence.

No one speaks until they get home. "Did you notice the Minister was not happy I was cleared of any charges?" Ursa asks Draco.

"Yeah. He was angry." Draco says.

"I want you to know I'm not mad at you Ursa." Narcissa says. "I know they gave you Vertiserum."

"No they didn't." Ursa says. "I told you Dumbledore knows I am a strong Occlumens."

"Then why did you tell the truth?"

"Other than Dumbledore knew the truth and I would have ended up in Azkaban myself if they found out I lied? I told you that if he came home he would kick me out and disown me. I was protecting myself."

"Ursa I told you he does not want-"

"And I told you it does not matter what he wants, family tradition says he has to so he would. And he does not like me. Why else would he accuse me?" Ursa leaves the room and Narcissa sighs.

"She's right you know." Draco says. "He would kick her out and she would lose us."
