Chapter 1
Narcissa knocks on Ursa's door before opening it. Ursa is sitting on her window seat, staring out the window. "Cub? How are you doing?" Narcissa asks.
"Fine." Ursa replies. "Why?" Narcissa walks over and sits next to Ursa. She notice's Ursa's tear stained face and dark circles under her eyes.
"Because Draco said he has heard you crying and yelling in your sleep, when you do sleep, and that you have been avoiding him. You will not talk to him and yell at him when he tries. I have noticed you are not eating enough."
"I'm fine."
"Ursa, I can tell you are not fine. What is going on?" Ursa shakes her head. "Is this about the graveyard?"
"It's all I see every time I try to sleep Mother." Ursa says as tears fill and fall from her eyes. "That night. That damn night. I see Cedric die. I see Wormtail cut his own hand off. I see the Dark Lord reborn. I see others holding Father back while the Dark Lord uses the Cruciatus Curse on me. I feel it again and again. I see Cedric's father push through the crowd and break. I see Severus and Draco push through crowd, terrified because I disappeared from right next to Draco and appear with Potter and Cedric's body ten minutes later, crying because I was still in pain. I see Crouch being revealed. I see you coming out of the fireplace as terrified as Draco and Severus were if not more. And the Ministry denies it all. They deny that the most traumatic thing I've been through happened."
"I'm sorry you had to see all of that and be tortured." Narcissa wipes the tears from Ursa's face.
"Did you know that was going to happen?"
"Not specifically. We got a threatening letter telling us not to go to the third task but that you and Draco would be safe. It mentioned they knew your father was not under the Imperius Curse, so we did not want to risk it. We were scared so we did not go. I hope you know that."
"I do."
"How exactly did you end up there?"
"We believe Crouch disapparated us there and then went back before anyone noticed he was missing. I was lucky I didn't get splinched."
Narcissa wipes Ursa's tears. "When was the last time you slept Cub?"
"I don't know. A day. Maybe more. Every day just blurs together right now. I'm not even sure how long we've been home."
"A week." Narcissa gently takes Ursa's hand and stands. She pulls Ursa to her feet and leads her over to the bed. She kicks off her heels and pulls Ursa to sit next to her.
"What are you doing?"
"When you were little and you had nightmares, laying with me always helped."
"Mother I'm 15."
"I'm not giving you a choice Ursa. You need to sleep." Ursa smiles softly as Narcissa lays down on her back. Narcissa guides Ursa to lay her head on her chest. Narcissa kisses the top of her head and Ursa closes her eyes. Narcissa gently scratches Ursa's scalp and plays with her hair, causing Ursa to fall asleep within minutes. When she's sure Ursa's asleep, Narcissa summons a book to read.
A few hours later, Draco opens the door to tell Ursa it's dinner time only to find that Narcissa fell asleep too. He smiles softly before closing the door and going back downstairs. "Did you find them?" Lucius asks.
"They are both in Ursa's room." Draco replies. "It appears that Mother got Ursa to sleep only to fall asleep herself. Ursa hasn't slept in a few days so I was not going to wake them."
"Probably a good plan."
Narcissa wakes up about an hour later and looks at the time. She gently moves Ursa off of her and goes downstairs. She eats dinner in the kitchen and grabs something for Ursa when she wakes up. She goes back upstairs and hears Ursa crying when she gets to the top. Narcissa runs into Ursa's room and shakes her awake, putting the snack on Ursa's nightstand. She sits on the bed as Ursa wakes up. "Shh. You are alright Cub." Narcissa says as she lays back down and Ursa curls into her. Narcissa rubs Ursa's back as she cries. Ursa looks up at Narcissa when she calms.
"It worked didn't it?" Ursa asks as she sits. "Then you went to do something."
"Yes." Narcissa says as she sits. "I brought you something to eat." Narcissa hands Ursa the snack.
"It's fine if you want to go do other things. I can find another way-"
"Shush. I will stay with you as long as you need me to. Every night until it's better if I have to."
"I love you."
"I love you Cub."
***
"You're coddling her Cissa." Lucius says after a week.
"Lucius she needs to sleep." Narcissa says. "It is the only way we have found to keep her from having nightmares about the graveyard."
"Have you tried giving her a Dreamless Sleep potion?"
"You know I don't like giving the children potions unless I have to."
"Cissa, one night." Lucius steps into Narcissa's personal space. "Please."
"Lucius she needs me."
"But I need you." Lucius gently pulls her close and kisses her.
"You know exactly what to do to get me where you want me don't you?" Narcissa whispers after they pull back.
"Well after twenty years of marriage I better know."
"You're lucky I love you."
"I know Cissa." Ursa walks down the hall and starts being able to hear them.
"Wow. It has been twenty years hasn't it?"
"It has. We were so busy with Ursa being home, the party, the World Cup and the Tri-Wizard Tournament that we forgot." Ursa smiles as she has an idea and continues down the hall.
That night, Narcissa gives Ursa a dose of a Dreamless Sleep potion and Ursa sleeps alone. Draco is woken up by Ursa's crying and yelling. He goes into Ursa's room and lays in her bed next to her. She feels his body heat and rolls over and curls into him, calming down.

Narcissa goes into Draco's room in the morning to find his room empty. She smiles softly, immediately knowing where he is. She goes to Ursa's room to find them spread out, legs overlapping and Ursa's hand on Draco's cheek, and chuckles. She walks over to the bed and gently shakes them both. "It's time to get up." She says and Ursa whines in protest.
"I agree." Draco grumbles before copying Ursa's whine. Ursa chuckles.
"I guess that potion did not work. Breakfast is in fifteen minutes."
"Yes Mother." Both kids mumble. Narcissa leaves and the kids shift so they are laying on their sides facing each other.
"When did you invade my bed?" Ursa asks.
"Maybe two or three." Draco says. "You woke me up with your crying and yelling and I remembered Mother wasn't in here. You calmed down almost instantly."
"Sorry I woke you. Thanks."
"What do you dream about that makes you react like that?"
"That night and Beatrice." Ursa pauses. "So I heard something interesting last night."
"Oh?"
"Our parents twentieth anniversary was last August and they never celebrated. They were busy with other things... including me."
"So?"
"I think we should do something for them. Like arrange a surprise date night for them. And maybe get Father in on it so he can get Mother something. Maybe you and I can go to Severus's or Pansy's so they don't have to worry about us."
Draco smirks. "Pansy's huh? Making an excuse to go see your girlfriend?"
"She's not my girlfriend. At least not officially. So should we do it?"
"Yes."
"Maybe we can see if we can make Pansy's a sleepover for our house and year so you're not the only boy."
***
Ursa smiles as she reads the letter she just got in her room. "Who's that from?" Draco asks.
"Hermione." Ursa replies. "She wants to take me somewhere in the Muggle world."
"You're going to go into the Muggle world?"
"Yes."
"How are you going to manage to hide that from our parents?"
"Probably say I'm going to Severus. She wants to meet at the Leaky Cauldron. I'll make that reservation before I come home."
***
"Be home by dinner." Narcissa says as Ursa goes to the fireplace.
"Yes Mother." Ursa replies as she tosses Floo Powder into the fireplace. The flames turn green and Ursa steps in. "Spinster's End." She disappears from the Malfoy fireplace and reappears in Severus's. "Hey."
"Hello." Snape says.
"Thanks for covering for me."
"They're going to kill you if they find out."
"I know."
"You better hope they don't come over."
"Hermione said we'd be out for two hours at most. I have until dinner."
"You're going into the Muggle world wearing that?" Snape looks Ursa up and down. Ursa is wearing a silk blouse and black leather leggings.
"Of course not. Hermione is bringing me more appropriate clothes."
"Alright. Shoo."
"Love you too." Ursa replies as she tosses Floo Powder into the fireplace. She steps in. "Leaky Cauldron." She appears at the Leaky Cauldron and walks up to the table Hermione is sitting at. "Hey."
"Hey." Hermione says. "I brought you some clothes like you asked." Hermione hands her a bag.
"Thank you." Ursa replies. "These are some of the closest clothes to Muggle clothes I own. I wore Muggle clothes on the plane home but my mother burned them."
Hermione chuckles. "Yeah you would still stand out next to me. Go change. We need to go to Gringotts to get Muggle money for you."
"Go change?" Ursa repeats with a chuckle. "Oh Hermione. That's cute." Ursa draws her wand and raises the clothes with magic. She taps the tip of her wand to her chest and her clothes change.
"I should have known better with you."
"Jeans without holes. Weird."
"You've worn jeans?"
"Not blue jeans but yeah. Black usually and most have holes in them. What is weird is wearing a t-shirt."
"Never worn a t-shirt?"
"Not in public. To sleep yes."
After going to Gringotts for Muggle money, they go out into Muggle London. "I have never been in the Muggle world before." Ursa says as they walk
"Never?" Hermione questions.
"Other than the airplane. I mean we went to a small town populated by Muggles and wizards at Ilvermorny. Kinda like we do for Hogsmeade."
"Wow. You really are sheltered."
"From the Muggle world? Yeah. In general? Not really."
"Well come on it's this way."
"Is this a music store?"
"Yep."
"This is amazing." Ursa says as they walk in.
"I thought you'd like it." Hermione says. "Better selection than the place in Hogsmeade."
***
Ursa smiles as the wind rushes through her hair as she flies around the manor grounds on a broom, practicing Quidditch moves and tricks. She lands in the back courtyard to find Draco was watching her. "I didn't know you could fly so well." He says.
"Thanks." Ursa replies. "I can fly faster and do more tricks on a broom than as a bird. I usually ride it when I need to relax."
"Were those Quidditch dodges I saw you doing?"
"Yeah. I tried out for the team at Ilvermorny but I didn't make it. Personally I think it was because people didn't like me."
"I would believe that. That was some good technique."
"I agree." Lucius says, causing both children to jump.
"I swear you get pleasure out of sneaking up on us." Ursa says.
"Maybe a little." Lucius replies with a smirk. "So you tried out at Ilvermorny?"
"For Chaser and Seeker."
"Well I'm the Slytherin Seeker." Draco says.
"I know. It also just so happens that I know you only are because Father bought the team new brooms."
"Nuh uh!"
"When was the last time you caught a snitch?" Draco mumbles a reply. "What was that?"
"I haven't!" Draco yells and Ursa chuckles.
"You should try out Ursa." Lucius says.
"I will think about it." Ursa replies. "But I want to make it on the team because I am qualified, not buying my way on."
"Alright. If you change your mind just let me know." Lucius starts to walk away but stops. "Just do not tell your mother if you do make it on the team. According to her ladies do not play Quidditch."
"Does she really expect me to constantly act like a lady at this point?"
Lucius chuckles. "No she does not."
***
Draco wakes up to Ursa's cries again. He goes into Ursa's room to see her thrashing and tries to wake her up. "Ursa!" He yells as he shakes her hard. "Ursa wake up!" No matter how hard he shakes her, she doesn't wake up. Draco runs out of the room and across the manor. He knocks on the door of their parents' room. He knocks louder when there is no answer and Narcissa opens the door.
"What do you need Dray?" Narcissa asks.
"Something is wrong with Ursa." Draco replies. "She's crying and thrashing and- and I can't wake her up."
"Alright give me a second." Narcissa goes back to the bed as she ties her robe closed and grabs her wand off the nightstand. She quietly closes the door behind her and walks with Draco back to Ursa's room. "No matter what you hear or what happens, do not come in there."
"What is wrong with her?"
"Draco. Do not come in."
"Mother you're scaring me."
"If this is what I think it is, I do not want you to see what I have to do. In five minutes, have your father check on us. Do not come in. No matter what. Do you understand me?"
"Yes Mother."
"What did I say?"
"Don't come in no matter what and get Father in five minutes." Draco replies.
"Good. Now go back to your room." Draco nods and goes into his room. Narcissa takes a deep breath before opening the door and going inside. Ursa's body is tensed and her back is arched, like she is being tortured. "Poor baby." Narcissa walks over to Ursa and gently touches her shoulder. She jerks back as one of Ursa's arms flies at her. "Of course she's one that fights." Narcissa manages to shake Ursa to try to wake her to no avail. "Poor Cub." Ursa's arm flies at Narcissa again and Ursa's fist hits Narcissa's face. "Fuck." Narcissa grabs Ursa's arm and pins it to the bed. She points her wand at Ursa. "I'm sorry Cub." Narcissa closes her eyes and turns her head as she curses Ursa. Narcissa stops and Ursa's body goes still. Narcissa releases Ursa's arm and gently shakes her to wake her. "Ursa, can you hear me?" Ursa nods, eyes closed and Narcissa sits on the bed. Ursa opens her eyes and quickly moves back from Narcissa after seeing Narcissa with her wand.
"Wh-what did you do to me?" Ursa asks as tears fill her eyes.
"You were having a rare nightmare called a Magical Nightmare. I did not do anything to you."
"Then why do you have your wand out?"
"The most effective way to wake someone having a Magical Nightmare is to ground them with a curse." Narcissa says as she sits against Ursa's headboard.
"You cursed me?"
"I took no pleasure in it Cub, but you needed to wake up. Come here." Narcissa holds her arms out and Ursa hesitates. Narcissa sets her wand on the nightstand and Ursa moves closer. She relaxes into Narcissa's arms and lets the tears fall. "What were you dreaming about?"
"A mix of that night and Beatrice. It felt so real this time. Like I'm in pain right now."
"That's what a Magical Nightmare does Cub. You have a nightmare that involves getting hurt by magic and... well no one is exactly sure how it works but you feel everything. People think the dreamer casts it on themselves."
"So I casted a curse on myself?"
"Possibly. Not many people get them."
"Wow."
There is a knock at the door. "It has not been five minutes."
"Huh?"
Lucius opens the door and pops his head in. "Everything alright?" He asks.
"It is now. Ursa was having a Magical Nightmare." Narcissa replies.
"Oh no. Are you both okay?" Ursa nods.
"I may have a bruise in the morning but otherwise yes."
"Why did Draco get me?" Lucius asks.
"I told him to have you check on us after five minutes. In case she accidentally knocked me out or something similar."
"I assume you are going to spend the rest of the night in here?"
"If she wants me to."
"Please." Ursa replies.
"Alright." Lucius says. "I will see you two in the morning." Lucius smiles softly at them before leaving.
"Did I hurt you?" Ursa asks.
"You were flailing and I did not see your arm in time." Narcissa replies.
"I hurt you." Ursa tears up again.
"Do not cry Little Cub. I am alright. I can heal it in the morning. Okay?" Ursa nods. "Good. Now let's get some sleep."
