Chapter 17: Events, Fights with Potter & Dollhouses
Ursa runs up to Hagrid outside his hut. "There yeh are, Ursa." Hagrid says.
"Sorry. Draco decided to pick a fight in Hogsmeade and we got caught by our parents that are here for the first task." Ursa replies.
"No problem." Lyra hoots from Hagrid's roof. "Well Lyra's been impatient. Come on. I want you to meet the Hippogriffs." Lyra flies down to Ursa's shoulder and they walk towards the forest.
"I've read a bit about them. Very prideful creatures."
"That they are. Do you know how to greet one?"
"Walk up slowly with eye contact and bow. If they don't bow back, run like hell." Hagrid laughs. "Wasn't it a Hippogriff that hurt Draco last year?"
"Yes, that was ole Buckbeak. I miss the fella"
"Knowing Draco, I'm probably right in assuming Draco got cocky and either purposely or accidentally insulted him."
"How'd yeh know?"
"My mother, Crabbe, and Goyle told me a bit. Otherwise it's cause I know Draco."
They get to the Hippogriff pen and Hagrid lets her in. She approaches one only for it to move towards her. It bows first. "That's never happened before."
"I am Clawhoof, Noble Phoenix." The Hippogriff says as Ursa bows back.
"Hello Clawhoof." Ursa says cautiously.
"How'd you know his name?" Hagrid asks.
"He told me." Ursa replies. "First Fawkes now this. Can I speak to animals? Ursa backs up to the pen gate. "I need to talk to Dumbledore. I'll explain everything later Hagrid. Lyra, owlery." Lyra takes off and Ursa runs towards the castle.
"Come in." Dumbledore says when Ursa knocks on his office door. Ursa opens the door and walks in. "Miss Malfoy."
"A Hippogriff just spoke to me." Ursa says as she walks up to his desk. "Called me 'Noble Phoenix.'"
"Pardon?"
"I help Hagrid for a few hours every weekend. He took me to meet the Hippogriffs today and one spoke to me. He approached me and bowed first. Called me 'Noble Phoenix.'"
"Ah. I was wondering when you would discover this. One of the powers or your condition is the ability to understand any magical species of bird or any magical species that are part bird. There may be other that have not been tested. As for the 'Noble Phoenix,' it appears some creatures can sense the phoenix inside you."
"The Hippogriffs call me 'Noble Phoenix' too." Fawkes says.
"I thought I could only understand Fawkes who just told me the Hippogriffs call him 'Noble Phoenix' too." Ursa says. "Does that mean I can understand Lyra, my owl?"
"Not in the same way." Dumbledore replies. "She can understand you more than she could understand another person. She and any nonmagical bird can understand what you're saying."
"So it is kind of flip-flopped for nonmagical birds?"
"Yes." Dumbledore pulls a book out of his desk and sets it on top of his desk. "I couldn't find much about your transformations, but I did manage to find a diary of one of your ancestor. They were like you and I believe it will answer your question about when you almost hurt Draco. They describe four events. The first event occurred the first time they transformed in which they shed feather. Like you they had their feather as their wand core. The second event, which is what I believe you experienced with Draco, occurred when they were startled right after landing, they noticed after that they could understand certain creatures. The third event will occur when you get extremely angry and snap at someone and you should be able to control your transformations after that. With the first three events, they felt more powerful after each one. The final event will come when you are betrayed by one you love. After that, you will be at full power." Dumbledore holds the book out to Ursa and she takes it. Ursa's bracelet starts glowing. "This hopefully can answer any other questions you have."
"Thank you Professor."
"I would like you permission to explain your situation to Professor McGonagall. It seems this may be related to Transfiguration."
"If you trust her then yes. I may also tell Hagrid because I just ran off on him and told him I would explain later." Dumbledore notices Ursa's bracelet.
"Is your bracelet glowing?" Dumbledore asks. Ursa looks down at her bracelet.
"I guess it is. I got it this summer. I was drawn to it."
"Open that diary to the end pages." Ursa opens it and the page glows before writing appears. "That's what I thought. There is more information."
"It glowed when I had my second event too."

"I was impressed with your Transfiguration this morning Miss Malfoy." McGonagall says.
"Thank you Professor." Ursa replies.
"You seem to have an affinity for it like your aunt."
"Bellatrix?"
"No, Andromeda. I would like to offer you private lessons."
"I will think about it. Also, I am technically not supposed to know about Andromeda but I do."
"Right. You are a member of the Black family and they pretend disowned members do not exist."

November 20 (Sunday)
"Hey Malfoys!" Harry yells at Ursa and Draco on a side street in Hogsmeade.
"Leave them alone." Ron says.
Draco, his gang, and Ursa turn and Ursa and Draco both look irritated. "What do you want Potter?" Ursa snaps.
"Your mother, that expression she's got, like she's got dung under her nose?" Harry says. "Has she always looked like that, or was it just because you were with her?"
"You fucking-" Ursa says as her irises turn black. She moves before anyone can react.
"Goyle! Stop her!" Draco yells.
Ursa almost reaches Harry before Goyle grabs one of her arms. "Malfoy no!" He says as he pulls her away.
Ursa grabs her wand and shoots a spell at Harry that misses. "Expelliarmus!" Draco yells.
Ursa's wand goes flying out of her hand and lands on the ground nearby. Goyle grabs Ursa's other arm and holds her back as Draco walks towards Harry. Narcissa turns onto the street and notices the group, specifically Goyle holding Ursa back and Ursa's wand on the ground. She walks down the street they're on to the next corner and hides around the corner, so she isn't seen but can still see and hear them.
"The next time you insult our mother, I will not stop her." Draco says and Narcissa smiles softly. "She already warned you not to speak ill of our family."
"So scared." Harry says sarcastically.
"You really should be." Draco replies.
"Ursa's about as scary as a flobberworm."
Goyle let's go of Ursa as she relaxes and her irises turn back to normal. "We're talking about the same Ursa right?" She picks her wand up off of the ground and walks over to Draco. "The same Ursa that disarmed Professor Moody." Ursa rests her elbow on Draco's shoulder. "The one who turned my apple into a dragon yesterday?"
Lucius comes up behind Narcissa and wraps his arms around her, causing her to jump. "Don't do that Lucius." Narcissa whispers with a smile.
"You should be terrified of me Potter." Ursa says. "Did your friends tell you about when they saw me training?"
"What are you doing Cissa?" Lucius asks.
"Please, you're not scary." Harry says.
"She really is." Ron says
"Watching our children argue with Potter." Narcissa answers. "Making sure their tempers don't get them in trouble."
"We should go Harry. Leave them." Hermione says.
"That would explain why your hand is on your wand." Lucius says.
"You should listen to the Mudblood Potter." Draco spits.
"You're just as pathetic as your brother and parents." Harry says. Ursa's irises go black and she points her wand at Harry. Narcissa draws her wand and points it at Ursa.
Goyle moves towards Ursa but Draco stops him. "I warned him. She warned him a month ago." Draco says.
"What's wrong with your eyes?" Harry asks and Ursa moves closer to him. Hermione and Ron both look at Ursa in fear.
"Say that again, I fucking dare you." Ursa spits. "Insult my family or mother again. See what the fuck happens!"
Harry moves closer to Ursa. "You're pathetic, just like your family and your mother is a-"
"Imp-" Ursa interrupts Harry but Ursa is interrupted by an Immobilizing Charm. The glass of Harry's glasses shatter.
"What did you do to my glasses?" Harry asks.
"You can just fix them." Hermione says before doing it herself.
Draco waves his hand in front of Ursa's face. "She's frozen." Draco says.
Everyone looks around in confusion until Narcissa and Lucius approach the group. "As much as I would enjoy watching you duel and defeat Potter," Narcissa says as she puts her hand on Ursa's shoulder. She releases Ursa from the spell and Ursa's irises go back to normal. "I would prefer you not get expelled from another school." Narcissa grabs Ursa's chin and makes Ursa look at her. "I would also prefer you not use that kind of language."
Ursa lowers her wand. "Yes Mother." Ursa says and lowers her head when Narcissa releases her chin. "I'm sorry, but he insulted our family, specifically you."
"I know dear."
"Haha! Caught by your parents." Harry says and Narcissa catches Ursa's wand arm before she can raise it.
"Calm down Ursa."
"At least we have parents." Draco says.
"Leave my children alone Potter." Lucius says. "You and your..." Lucius's face twists in disgust. "Weasley and Mudblood or else."
"Come children." Narcissa says.
"Yes Mother. Watch your back, Potter." Ursa says before her family and her walk away.
"What did you do to his glasses?" Narcissa asks.
"I did not do anything I think." Ursa replies.
"Wait." Draco says. "When that vase shattered at the manor, when we got grounded, weren't you angry?"
"Yeah."
"And the argument in the training grounds. Didn't the windows nearby shatter?"
"Great." Ursa sighs. "So I shatter fragile things when I get angry."
"You should be happy about it, Ursa." Lucius says. "It is a sign of a powerful witch or wizard. Though we already knew you were powerful."
"That would explain why that mirror in your room shattered when I told you your aunt had been arrested." Narcissa says. "Yes we have known. We also have known you were going to be protective of me since you were young."
"When I threw that man across the street before I was two?" Ursa asks.
"Yes, I was worried your aunt would die of laughter when I let her see that memory. She's the only person more protective of me than you."

Ursa sighs as she drops the Prophet on the table in front of her at the Three Broomsticks. "Another article from Skeeter. She dug up more of my 'troublemaking' at Ilvermorny." Draco picks up the paper. "You know, when I was defending myself from other students."
"Eek she found out about your behavior at parties there too." Draco says. "Why didn't you think before doing things?"
Ursa groans. "I was overwhelmed at the parties and was not allowed to leave the main room to relax."
"This is going to hurt our reputation."
"I did not think because I was in a different country and did not think I was going to be here. Ugh. I hate our family expectations and our damn reputation."
"Ursa careful. Our parents-"
"Are not here like you said earlier." Ursa said. Around the corner, out of Ursa's sight, Narcissa raises an eyebrow at Draco's lie and looks at Lucius.
Pansy sits and the rest of Draco's gang and other Slytherins gather. "What are you talking about?" She asks. "You're a perfect family."
Ursa scoffs. "When you walk away, is when we really play." She says.
"Ursa don't. O-" Draco tries to say.
"You do not hear me when I say 'Mother please come here, Father is mad at me again' and 'your son is being an asshole.' No one ever listens. This wallpaper glistens." Ursa whispers behind her hand. "Do not let them see what goes down in the study."
"Urs-" Draco says in attempt to stop her.
Ursa talks to everyone again as more people gather. "Places, places. Get in your places, throw on your dress and put on your doll faces. Everyone thinks that we are perfect. Please do not let them look through the curtains. Picture, picture, smile for the picture. Pose with your brother, won't you be a good sister?" Ursa draws the letters in the air while she spells it out. "D-O-L-L-H-O-U-S-E. We see things that nobody else see"
"Wow." Pansy says.
"Oh there is more."
"You are going to get yourself in trouble Ursa." Draco says.
"They cannot trace it back to me." Ursa replies. "I'm not scared."
"Ursa, seriously stop."
"Hey girl look at our mother, she has 'got it going on.' Blam. You are blinded by her jewelry. When you turn your back, she grounds my ass for no reason."
"There is usually a reason. Also shut up Ursa."
"And takes my wand away from me. Oh no, someone important is coming over for dinner. Go back to being plastic." Ursa whispers behind her hand to Draco again. "One day they will see what goes down in the study." Ursa looks past Pansy and notices people have disappeared. She looks at Pansy and sees that she is nervous. "Based on Pansy's face, I do not want to turn around do I?" Pansy shakes her head in response. "And Draco is a bloody liar and should start running while he has a fucking chance of surviving shouldn't he?"
"Probably." Pansy says.
"I did not think you were going to do something that idiotic." Draco says.
"Run." Ursa growls. Draco scrambles out of his chair and Ursa tries to catch him. Lucius immobilizes her before she can get more than a few feet.
"How-" Lucius starts before Narcissa interrupts him.
"Not here Lucius." Narcissa hisses quietly.
"Right." Lucius releases Ursa from the spell and spins her around to face Narcissa and the stairs. "Upstairs."
"Yes Father." Ursa replies before mumbling to herself as they walk. "I'm going to fucking kill Draco."
"Stop cursing." Narcissa hisses.
"Yes Mother." Ursa sighs and follows Narcissa upstairs, Lucius behind her.
