Mairin's POV:
"I TOLD YOU TO CLEAN THE KITCHEN FLOOR TOO!!!!" Grace yelled and lashed my back with a belt.

Pain shot up my back. It burned.

"LEAVE HER ALONE!!!" My brother, Steven yelled. "Why Steven honey, she didn't do what she was told" Grace batted her eyes.

"SO?! THAT DOSEN'T MEAN YOU NEED TO WHIP HER WITH A BELT!!" Steven shot at her. Grace batted her eyes. "Then what do you want me to do to?"

Steven clenched his fist. "Just send her to her room, nicely" "Ugh...FINE!" Grace said and pointed to my room.

I sat on my broken bed. My friends Chespie and Babé sat on my bed.

"Another hard day?" Chespie asked. "Yup" I sighed. Yes, I can speak to Pokemon....

Then, I heard a soft knock on my door. "Come in" I mumbled. Steven walked in. "Hey Mairin" He said "Hi..." I mumbled.

Let me get this straight. Steven is my brother, and Grace is my Step-Mom–well I wouldn't call her a mom. My father died after he married Grace and she treats me like trash, but treats Steven like a prince. Steven is always kind to me, but why is Grace not?

"Thanks for...you know–helping me" I said. "My pleasure" He answered.

I missed Dad so much. "Is there anything I can do?" Steven asked. "What do you mean?" I said. "You know how you've always wanted to go to the village, right?" He began.

"Yes!" I started to smile. "I asked mom and you can go for a day." He said. My jaw dropped open "SERIOUSLY?!?" Steven nodded.

"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" I hugged him so tight. "Anything for my little sis!" Steven smiled.

"I'm 18, Steven I'm not little!" I giggled. Steven got up and ruffled my hair. "I'm gonna take a shower, night" he said "Goodnight and thanks!" I said. Steven nodded.

When she walked out, I grabbed a picture "Prince Alain..." I stared dreamily.
