Part 52

"Arnav... what is she doing here?" Khushi asked as she looked at him with moist eyes, just when she thought everything was going well, this had to happen.

"Lavanya please give us a moment." Arnav said to her, she nodded as she walked out leaving them both alone, Arnav walked towards Khushi immediately and cupped her face as he looked her into the eyes.

"Hey, I am so sorry Khushi, you came to surprise me, I wasn't expecting for you to see her, I was the one that called her."

"Why would you do that Arnav? After everything that happened?"

"Look please relax and listen to me. Whatever that happened in the past was because of me, for the things I did and I just wanted to make things better for the both of us.

She has been working in this company for so long but as soon as we got back together, I had to ask her to quit, I knew it would affect you if you came across her."

"But I did come across her Arnav."

"I know and I am really sorry Khushi. I just realized I was punishing her for my mistakes and she dint deserve to be asked to quit her job because of what I did, so I just called her to tell her I'd found her a job in another company, I knew some people and I just talked to them about her.

I dint want to punish her for my mistakes like I had done to you Khushi, that is the only reason she is here, I just wanted to talk to her about the other job so she could join there trust me. You can sit here with me when I talk to her about it if you want to, I promise there's nothing else."

"It's just that seeing here has brought back the memories... I think I should leave." Khushi said as she tried to walk away but Arnav kept on holding on to her.

"Please Khushi, I really dint mean for you to face her, I am sorry."

"It's okay Arnav, I get it, you were just trying to help her and I agree she does need a job. I just need some alone time, so I need to go."

"Please tell me everything is still okay between us?"

"It is. I just need some air... I'll talk to you when I feel better."

"Okay, I'm really sorry for this once again, I promise I wont ever see her once I settle this job matter, trust me on that okay?"

"Okay." She nodded, he let her go so she walked out of the office and headed straight back to her car.

She sat on her seat and leaned against it shutting her eyes, as once again all those horrible memories flashed in front of her eyes, she thought she could forget about them, but it was so damn difficult.

Everything between her and Arnav was so great right now she dint want to ruin it, she dint want to overthink any of this and ruin the beautiful feelings she was having, she just wanted to forget about it and move on in life but only if it was that easy.

Only if Lavanya had never shown up, everything would still be going on well, but maybe this happened so she could see things for what they had been and accept them.

It wasn't like she could go back in the past and change things, neither could she ignore them, she had to accept what had happened, she had to accept the decisions she had made and live with them, she couldn't run away from the truth forever.

The truth was that Arnav was a terrible person to her in the past, but the other truth was that he was a changed man now, he did everything in his power to always keep her happy, he made her feel loved and happy right now unlike in the past so it was for her to decide on what she wanted.

These memories were always going to haunt her from time to time, it wasn't like she would completely forget about them, but this was her second chance with Arnav, the both of them had put so much effort into it and they were finally happy together.

So was this one moment from the past worth ruining their happiness for? Definitely not.

She inhaled a couple deep breaths and calmed herself down, and then she switched on the car and drove off, making sure her mind was full of other thoughts and not Lavanya and Arnav.

It worked but only for a few minutes and then all she could remember was her husband with his ex-girlfriend on their bed. How was she supposed to be okay with that? How was she supposed to forget that and move on?

Why did Lavanya have to come and remind her of her past once again?

Now everything was back to square one, she was once again stuck with the same image in her mind that had been haunting her.

She parked her car in the parking as soon as she arrived back at the office and headed straight to her cabin, she sat down on her chair yet clouded with the past.

"Hey you, what's up and why are you ignoring me?" Tara asked as she followed her inside.

"When did I ignore you?" Khushi asked as she looked at her in confusion.

"Just right now, you passed by me Khushi, I kept trying to talk to you but you walked away like you dint see me, and you look like you're going to be sick, is everything okay?"

"yeah... everything is fine." She tried to fake a smile.

"Everything doesn't seem fine, what happened? We are friends now you can share with me."

"I went to surprise Arnav at his office but then I saw Lavanya, the woman he brought to our bed to revenge on me or whatever and I know he has nothing to do with her now, he even asked her to leave his company but it's like that image is stuck in my mind once again and I just can't seem to get rid of it."

Her eyes were filled with tears, it was crazy how the past still hurt her so much.

"Oh... I know it must have been so hard to see her."

"It was, I don't know what to do Tara, will I ever be able to get rid of that image from my head?"

"Honestly, no. When something that tortured you so much gets stuck in your head, it's always going to be there Khushi even after ages, it might get blur but it would still be there.

But you can choose how to look at it, you can ignore it, you can let it bother you, or you can act like it doesn't exist, it's upon you on how you choose to deal with it.

What do you want to do Khushi?" Tara asked.

"I... I have loved Arnav my whole life Tara, when I chose to divorce him it was because of all that, but a lot changed since then, we talked we solved the issues and everything and I thought I could never forgive him but I did, and I gave him a chance.

All this thing about us dating and spending time together, it's going so good, so perfectly, I finally feel like I am getting the love I always yearned for, the love I deserve, and I don't want to lose it again, I want to continue feeling this happy, I want to continue feeling this loved." Khushi looked at her sadly.

"Then continue to feel so, only you can choose on how you let things affect you Khushi, if you are happy with Arnav, you will have to find a way to not let those images of the past bother you, only then you can be truly happy with him.

I know it's not easy but if you are happy with him and you still want to be with him, you will have to find a way to make your peace with the past, you have to accept the things that happened, you have to accept that you can't change it, only then you will truly be happy with him.

IF you let the past bother you, you won't ever be able to find the happiness you're looking for, you'll have to be free of it."

"And how do I do that?"

"But talking, relationships are always about communication babe, talk to Arnav, tell him how you feel and how it affects you, I'm sure he would try to make things easier and trust me with time, everything will fall into place."

"You sure?"

"I am... I did the same with Rohan and see, we're getting married soon." She smiled.

"I want to get married too, someday hopefully." Khushi giggled.

"And you will, but you will have to move on from the past. I know it was terrible but it happened you can't change it, but don't let the past ruin the beautiful future you have ahead okay?"

"Okay. Thanks, I feel so much better after talking to you, I wasn't sure I would be in terms with it, but now I think I can be."

"Perfect, so you okay now?"

"I think so."

"Great, so I couldn't wait, I wanted to talk to you about my wedding, I am so excited I've told the whole world about it, posted on all my social media accounts, called my friends and my family and even relatives that I don't like." She giggled.

"You're crazy."

"I'm just excited for my wedding, I've got a lot to do and I'll need you help."

"Sure, you and Rohan both will have all my help." Khushi laughed.
