Part 47
Khushi was seated in the hall waiting for Arnav to arrive, he said he would come in the evening but he hadn't said the exact timing, so now she was back from work early because she was kind of excited and she couldn't wait to see him.
Every time she'd hear the sound of a car honking, she would rush to the window to check whether it was Arnav, all over a sudden she was acting all crazy just to see him.
"Look at you so madly in love." Tara said as she walked into the hall dressed up.
"Look at you dressing up cutely for Rohan." Khushi teased her back.
"How did you know I was going with him? What if I'm just going out with friends?" Tara asked.
"The look on your face says it all, so date night?"
"Yeah, we figured if you guys started, why shouldn't we?" She laughed, Khushi just rolled her eyes as Tara headed towards the door opened it to leave.
"Oh hi Arnav." She said, Khushi stood up immediately and rushed towards the door to see him but he wasn't there.
"Wow, look at you, you dint even want to give him a chance and now you can't wait to see him." Tara laughed.
"Go away!" Khushi frowned as she headed back to the sofa to sit, she grabbed her phone and decided to call him to save herself from over waiting for him. Did that even make sense? Was there such a word in the English language?
Who cared, this wasn't an exam.
She unlocked her phone ready to dial his number when the door opened up and he walked in, Khushi stood up trying not to look or sound too excited.
"I was just about to call you." She said as she walked towards him.
"Yeah, I met Tara downstairs she said you were waiting, I got caught up at work, hope I dint make you wait too long?"
"Not really." She smiled.
"Great... So what are we cooking?" He asked.
"I don't know, I thought you were going to cook as you invited yourself to dinner."
"If I wanted to cook, I could cook at my place too, I wanted for you to cook for me." He said.
"Oh how romantic Arnav." Khushi rolled her eyes, first he invited himself and now he was expecting her to cook for him, like seriously?
"Not in a bad way, you're looking like I just told you that I killed someone. How do I explain this... okay remember on the first day of our wedding, you had cooked for me and I dint even taste it.
I just realized you never got the appreciation you deserved, that's why I invited myself here, so you can cook for me, like that day, and I promise, I would taste it and even eat it, and it doesn't mean you have to cook for me always, I can also cook for you sometime, you can invite yourself to my place too.
I just thought it would be good if we did the things you wanted and never got to do because of the way I behaved then, that's it." He explained.
"That's sweet actually, I was almost going all feminist on you for telling me to cook for you." Khushi laughed.
"Yeah I was scared I might get a punch, how about we both cook, I can help you, it would be a fun kind of date."
"Oh... so this is a date?"
"Every moment with you is a date." Arnav smirked.
"He also flirts." Khushi rolled her eyes as she walked towards the kitchen while Arnav followed her.
"Come on, I know you like me flirting with you, I am you prince charming, isn't that what you've always dreamt about?" Arnav asked as he wiggled his eyebrows.
"Jeez have you always been this cheesy or it's something new you're trying." Khushi giggled as she opened the fridge and looked inside.
"What are you making for me." Arnav asked.
"I don't even know, what do you want to eat? You really know how to sweet talk me into cooking for you but let me tell you this is the first and the last time." Khushi said strictly.
"Aren't you extra strict with me? I am your boyfriend, you are supposed to be loving towards me." He pouted.
Khushi looked at him smiling, it was funny, their relationship was so messed up, they were childhood friends and then they were strangers and then they had an arranged married and then got divorced and then fell in love and now they were dating.
Why was this all so confusing? Usually people start from strangers to friends to dating and then to marriage, theirs wasn't even revers it was all messed up in between.
"What?" Arnav asked as Khushi was still staring at him.
"You are my boyfriend?"
"You don't want me to be? I mean we are dating."
"Okay, I don't mind it." She blushed as she looked at the fridge once again, she had no idea what to cook for him.
"Seriously though, what do you want to eat? I'm not getting any ideas, what should I cook?" She pouted as she looked at him cutely.
"You look so cute when you make faces like that." Arnav admired her.
"Stop complementing me and tell me what you want to eat before I change my mind and order a pizza." Khushi tried to hide her blush.
"Anything, even something simple would do, as long as you've made it." He smiled.
"Okay, I'll make dal makhani and rice, you okay with that."
"Yup perfect, tell me how I can help?"
"Get the lentils out from the cabinet, they are all there." Khushi pointed towards the cabinet, Arnav nodded as he headed to get them while Khushi started with the preparation.
She kept on giving him instructions on what to do and he would oblige, while she prepared the dal, she told him to boil the rice so he did that, his work was easy so he was done quickly, then he sat down on the kitchen counter and looked at Khushi and she did the rest of the cooking.
"Look at you waiting like a child for the food to be ready so you can eat." Khushi said.
"Yup, I am excited just like a child too."
"Okay go set the table, put the plates and everything, this would be done by then." Khushi said, Arnav nodded as he jumped down and headed to set the table.
*****
Khushi looked at him nervously as he tasted the food, he had normal expressions on his face, he ate another bite and another but he wouldn't say how it was or anything.
"Why aren't you eating?" Arnav asked as he looked up at her.
"I am." Khushi said as she grabbed a plate and served herself.
"The food is really good Khushi, now I can't ask like they do in movies with all those over expressions, but it's really good, I love it." Arnav smiled.
"Thanks." Khushi blushed.
"I'd kiss your beautiful hands for making such delicacy." He smirked at her.
"Then kiss it." She held her hand forward, he held it and bent forward and pecked lightly on the back of her hand making her blush.
They both ate in silence after that, even though it was just a kiss on the hand which was pretty much normal, but it kind of got awkward later.
After they were done eating, Arnav offered to do the dishes as Khushi had cooked so she cleaned up the table, after they were done, they sat down on the sofa and relaxed.
"I had such a great time today, thanks for inviting me over." Arnav said.
"Thank yourself for inviting yourself." Khushi giggled.
"I am glad I can now make you smile and giggle, I hadn't done much of that in the past." He sighed. Khushi just smiled faintly, she dint know what to say, every time the past was brought up, things just got a bit awkward.
Arnav moved a bit closer to her and held her hand into his, Khushi looked at him in confusion.
"Just so you know, I really appreciate this second chance that you've given me and I will do anything that's possible to make things better between us. Thank you for giving me this chance." He smiled.
"You're welcome." Khushi smiled back as she looked at their held hands, this is what she liked, such simple romantic gestures of love.
