Part 30

"Are you hungry?" Arnav asked as he parked the car outside a restaurant.

"Yeah, it's not lunch yet though." Khushi smiled.

"It almost is... we can each, by the time we order and get the food it would be lunch time, and then we can continue driving to where I was taking you."

"Okay as you say." She nodded as she stepped out of the car and looked around, it wasn't really a huge restaurant, but it was beautiful, it had both outdoor and indoor sitting and the outdoor was surrounded with beautiful plants and flowers.

"Can we sit out?" Khushi looked at Arnav excitedly.

"Sure." Arnav smiled, she was always so excited about little things like even sitting outside, this side of her had disappeared after their marriage, but he was glad that it was coming back.

They settled down and then went through the menu, once they had decided what they wanted to eat, they placed the order and waited for the food.

"So where are we going?" Khushi asked.

"I told you it's a surprise, I'm obviously not telling you." Arnav laughed.

"Why does it have to be a surprise, I'll eventually find out."

"What kind of a question is that now? And I know you like surprises that's why." Arnav smirked, Khushi just nodded and smiled as she looked around uncomfortably.

It was strange, the Arnav she married and the Arnav she was spending time with right now were like two different people, this Arnav, she knew him from childhood, but that Arnav, he was different, something she had never expected him to be.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Arnav asked noticing how Khushi had been continuously staring at him.

"Just wondering..."

"Wondering what?"

"Where you had hidden this Arnav. I always knew like this, since childhood, but after we... umm got married, you were nothing like this."

"He was living a life full of misunderstandings, maybe that's why." Arnav shrugged. Why was it that they couldn't even spend a day together without being awkward or talking about the past, all he wanted was to make things better for her and then let her be, but it seemed kind of difficult when feelings were involved.

"It was better when we were kids wasn't it? Why did we even grow up?" Khushi pouted.

"I know, as a kid I always wanted to grow up because adult life seemed so fun, but it isn't. You start caring, thinking and feeling and worrying and what not. It's just too stressful. As a kid the only stress I had was not to break stuff or mom would beat me up." Arnav laughed.

"I know right." Khushi laughed.

The waiter came with their food, placed it on the table as Khushi looked at it excitedly, she was starving and she really wanted to eat, so as soon as the food came, she grabbed a plate and served herself and started eating immediately.

"Wow, you were really hungry." Arnav said.

"I am always eating, like every two or three hours I need something in my mouth."

"If you told me that earlier, I would have packed some snacks for you. Anyway, I'll get some take away snacks from here." Arnav said.

"You don't have to."

"It's okay Khushi, it's just food, no big deal."

After having lunch, the began the trip again, Arnav said it wasn't going to take any longer now, they were going to be there in a while and exactly like he said, after driving for a short while, he stopped the car in a place that seemed like a jungle.

"Here we are." He looked at Khushi.

"Are you planning to leave me here? Why are we in a jungle Arnav?" She asked.

"Aren't you too paranoid? Come, you'll know why." He said as he stepped out of the car, Khushi kept on sitting inside feeling afraid, it was a jungle, there were going to be wild animals, why did Arnav bring her here seriously?

"Seriously Khushi, I promise I won't murder you and I won't let anyone murder you, now get out of the car." Arnav laughed.

"Fine." She rolled her eyes as she stepped out of the car nervously and walked towards Arnav.

"Okay, we're using this route, we walk inside and we'll reach our destination, we can't go with the car because it won't fit." Arnav said.

"What if you run away and leave me alone here?" She pouted.

"You can hold on to me, I am not running away Khushi." Arnav smiled, she nodded as she immediately grabbed his arm and walked so close by him, Arnav just smiled at how scared she was.

"You seriously have no idea where we are?" Arnav asked as they started heading inside.

"I don't know, I feel like I've seen this place somewhere, I can't remember though." Khushi said as she looked around trying to remember where exactly she had seen it.

After a short walk, they stopped in front of a waterfall, the scenery was so beautiful, she definitely knew this place, why couldn't she remember it?

"You still don't remember?" Arnav looked at her curiously.

"Have I ever come here before? I mean I know I've seen this place but I don't remember coming here."

"We came here once, as kids. Our parents had planned a picnic sort of thing together and we all came here, you and I kept on playing around this waterfall and you were literally picking up flowers and putting them in your hair." Arnav smiled.

"You remember all that?" Khushi looked at him in surprise, for some reason she had forgotten about this place, maybe it was because they came only once, but as Arnav kept on telling her about it, there were blurry memories.

"I have a good memory, it's a good things sometimes and sometimes it's really bad when you want to forget stuff." He shrugged.

"So... why did we come here?" Khushi asked.

"Just... it's where we spent time as kids, it's an important place so I thought you'd like to see it, also the scenery is beautiful, I can give you a photoshoot if you're interested."

"I love taking photos." Khushi said excitedly.

"I'll grab the camera from the car, I hope you aren't scared anymore." Arnav said.

"I am not." Khushi pouted, he laughed as he walked away while Khushi stood there admiring the place and then suddenly an idea popped up in her mind.

She quickly looked around to find a place where he could hide and luckily she spotted a bush, she rushed towards it and hid herself behind it.

A minute later Arnav walked back and looked around trying to find Khushi but she was nowhere to be seen, he had just left her there for a minute and now she was gone.

"Khushi." He called her out as he looked around trying to find her.

"If you're playing some games with me I swear I'll be so mad." He was getting nervous now, looking everywhere, trying to find her. This place was usually safe, there were no wild animal or anything dangerous, and not many people knew about it, so where had she gone?

Khushi kept hiding behind the bush trying hard not to laugh, Arnav literally seemed worried but she wanted to keep doing this a while longer, it was fun.

"Khushi for heaven sake!" He shouted angrily, he ran from one corner to the other looking behind trees but he couldn't find her.

He had no idea where she could have disappeared suddenly, she was right here. What was happening? He headed deep inside the jungle calling out her name, hoping she would respond but she dint.

As Arnav headed inside, Khushi came out of the bush and slowly followed him deciding she would come out and scare him.

"Khushi!" Arnav's voice sounded really shaky, it seemed like he was scared and nervous.

"Khushi if you're playing games with me, I'm so done, please come out, I am serious." He shouted at the top of his voice.

He kept on heading deeper and deeper inside the jungle but still there was no sign of her, how could she have disappeared just like that? It wasn't possible. Where did she go? Only if he hadn't left her alone.

"Khushi!" He called out one last time and when he did, Khushi decided to finally show up, he sounded really scared and she dint want to torture him anymore.

She walked aside from the tree she was currently hiding behind and walked towards him, Arnav fell down on his knees leaving her surprise.

"Arnav." Khushi looked at him in surprise, he tilted his head and looked at her and then stood up and rushed towards her as he wrapped him arms around her and hugged her tightly.

"Thank God you're safe, I thought something happened to you." Arnav said as he kept on holding on to her.

"I was just... You were crying?" Khushi asked, when she called him out and he turned to look at her, she could swear she saw tears in his eyes.

"No I wasn't." He said as he broke the hug, he did look normal, there were no tears or anything, maybe she was imagining things.

"I am sorry, I was just playing a prank."

"It's okay... Come we'll take pictures for you now." He shrugged as he grabbed her hand and pulled her along towards the waterfall, Khushi followed him silently feeling confused about the whole thing that had just happened.

He sounded really mad when he couldn't find her and he kept saying he would get mad at her if she was playing games, and now that she told him that's what exactly she was doing, he dint even bother. What was he doing? Was he really that worried about her? But why would he be? They had just started becoming friends right now, it wasn't like she was important to him.
