Part 29
He pressed the door bell and Tara opened the door, she greeted him with a smile and let him in.
"Khushi is in the shower, you'll have to wait." She smiled.
"No worries." Arnav nodded as he settled down on the sofa. Khushi has started feeling a lot better by the evening after the doctor injected her, he had stayed with her until night and then once she was asleep he headed back home, he hoped she was feeling good today so he could at least go out with her, his first day with her was already over, he had just six left, and he wanted to spend those six days around her only, because those were going to be the days he was going to remember for the rest of his life after all this ended.
A while later, Khushi walked out of her room all ready for today, she was wearing a casual denim skirt with a white top and sneakers to go with it, she looked well too, like she hadn't been sick just yesterday, it was like she got well overnight.
She looked really beautiful, and fresh and the smile she had on her face was beautiful. He was literally seeing her in a different light, she wasn't the Khushi that he used to live with, that Khushi was stressed and worried, this Khushi seemed peaceful.
He could understand the difference though, the day when they got married, she was exactly like this, happy and peaceful and then he started stressing her up and somehow the glow and the innocence she always had disappeared, but now it was back and he was happy that it was back.
"Wow, you look beautiful." Arnav smiled as he stood up and looked at her with a huge smile.
"Well what can I say, I have a great fashion sense and I'm just happy." She giggled.
"I can see why you chose to start designing clothes."
"Yeah, I always loved that, even when I used to live with my aunt, she wouldn't let me go out so I used to sit in my room and draw random sketches, I never thought of making it a career though."
"Well it's good you did make it your career." Arnav smiled.
It wasn't really a fancy dress up or anything, it was quite normal but he had never seen her this way before, when they were married, she was mostly dressed in saree's so this was kind of different and he had also seen some of her work, which was pretty great actually.
"So where are we going today?" She asked excitedly.
"Just out... to do some random stupid stuff." Arnav shrugged.
"Okay... let's leave then. I'll just have to pass by work first to make sure everything is well." She said, Arnav nodded as they both headed out of the house and downstairs to the parking lot. They got in Arnav's car as he drove her to her workplace first.

Once they were done with the visit at the work, they both got back into the car as Arnav drove off.
"So, where are we going?" Khushi asked.
"You'll see, we'll be there in like ten minutes, it's not far." Arnav smiled to which she nodded and just like he had said, within ten minutes he had parked the car outside a building that was quite hard to decipher. It looked like a church, also it could be someone's house or a hotel or restaurant or something, and there were endless possibilities.
"So, do you know this place?" He asked, Khushi nodded negatively, it did look quite like a church but she wasn't sure, also why would Arnav bring her to a church the first thing?
"Great, you're in for a surprise then, can I hold your hand while we walk in? I know I promised no touching but I just want to see and feel how you'll react and that's only if you agree, whatever you decide." He smiled.
Khushi looked at him in confusion for a moment, what was this place and why was it making him so excited, why was he sure that she would react in a good way about it? Also the hand holding, she liked the suggestion but it was just that they weren't together now.
She expected this king of romantic gesture when they got married, not after they were divorced. But she was curious too and this was a chance for her to live something she had dreamt of, this little romance even though it wasn't going to last, at least it was going to be an experience, so keeping that in mind, she nodded positively.
As soon as she nodded, Arnav slid his hand to her and clutched it, intertwining both their fingers as if there was nothing that could separate them anymore, he sighed and took a step ahead as Khushi still kept looking curiously, wondering what this place was.
Once they were at the door, Arnav stopped, he looked at her once again and smiled brightly and then he pushed the door and Khushi looked at what was inside this church like looking building, she was left with her eyes wide open as a huge smile curved up on her face, her hold on Arnav's hand tightened because of the excitement that was rushing through her entire body.
Even though it wasn't a church, it felt like a way towards heaven.
"Oh My God!" She said as she walked in, a lady looked at her strictly and shushed her to which she looked at Arnav and giggled.
"This library is huge Arnav! I didn't even know a library like this existed here." She smiled at him happily. Since childhood, she had always loved reading, all types of books, she always had so many books in her room which someone would assume were there just for the sake if they dint know how much she loved reading.
"I remember the Khushi that used to love to read, and I was hoping she grew up still loving to read, so I thought I'd bring you here." Arnav whispered to her.
"You did a wrong thing by bringing me here the first thing, now I'm not getting out of this place." She giggled.
"Don't worry, they allow borrowing books, you just have to register with them, you can borrow as many books as you want and read them always."
"Who said I'm borrowing books, I'll live here and read them here, there's nothing better than sitting in a library and reading." She giggled as she walked away from him and started looking around the sections trying to find a perfect book.
Imagine in between thousands of books, a possibility of so many being your type, how was it even going to be easy to decide which one to pick first and read?
She loved reading autobiographies mostly, learning about people's inspiring lives was just such a beautiful thing.
Arnav too went to a different section trying to find a book, he wasn't much of a reader, he dint hate reading, he just did it very rarely, unlike Khushi. He had almost even forgotten that she loved to read after they got married as he had never found her reading, but after things got better between them and he reminisced the past memories, a lot of things about her came back in his mind.
Khushi finally found the perfect book, she pulled it out of the shelf and headed to sit at a table, she placed the book down, inhaled a deep breath and opened the first page taking herself to a new imaginary world.
Arnav just grabbed a random book as he followed her, he sat down opposite her and opened up the book pretending to read it but he actually just sat there staring at her and flipping pages so she could think he was actually reading.
Every time she'd look up from the book, he would look back at his pretending to be really serious. He had this huge smile plastered on his face as he kept on staring at her. Who knew love felt this beautiful? Even where you knew you wouldn't ever be together again?
He kept on looking at her face, how every time her expressions changed according to whatever that was happening in the books, sometime she would smile, or even giggle, sometime she looked serious and angry and sometimes she looked like she was going to cry.
It wasn't beautiful wasn't it? How one book could trigger so many emotions?
"So how about we borrow this book and you finish reading it later at night? We've been here for like over an hour now?" Arnav smiled as he interrupted her reading.
"Ohh... okay." She said looking sad.
"Now I feel sad for making you leave, but I just have somethings planned yet."
"It's okay, I will borrow the book and since I know this place now, I'm going to live here for the rest of my life after our days are over." She smiled as she stood up and walked towards the lady that had shushed her before to register and finally borrow the book.
Arnav kept on sitting where he was seated trying to remind himself that no matter how beautiful this time was, it was going to end, and that just kept on hurting him more and more.
"Hey, I'm done we can leave." Khushi said to her once she was done with the formalities. Arnav nodded as he walked towards her, she hugged the book happily as she followed him outside.
As they got inside the car and Arnav started the engine, Khushi looked at him excitedly once again, the day had just started and the smile on her face wasn't fading away at all, this is what she deserved to be treated like since the day they got married, but for some reasons he couldn't do it then, but he was going to make sure in this seven day, he gave her all she ever dreamt of.
"How about you just don't ask where we are going because I'm not telling you anyway." Arnav smiled.
"Okay, I love surprises." She giggled.
"Okay, this one is a bit of a long drive so I hope you don't have problem with sitting in the car for a while."
"No I'm okay, maybe we could just play some music, it would be fun."
"Sure, what kind of songs would you like to hear?"
"Romantic ones." She blushed
"Wow, even after everything, you're still somehow shy, I love that about you." Arnav smiled, Khushi nodded awkwardly, the use of the word love kind of made things awkward for a moment as Arnav had always hated her and everything about her so much, even thought this was new and refreshing, it was kind of awkward.
He pressed the play button and some music started playing which helped get rid of the tension that had started building up, as for Khushi it seemed like she knew the lyrics of each and every song because she kept singing along each and every song that came up.
Arnav mostly concentrated on the road and when he wasn't looking on the road, he was looking at Khushi who was seated beside him singing happily and it was making him realize what he had lost.
Anjali was right when she told him that one day he was going to fall in love with this girl, he thought she was crazy but now looking at her, he realized how right she was. Who wouldn't fall in love with her? She was the perfect girl and it was his loss he dint realize it when they were married.
